Ariz. Public Charter School Must Stop Promoting Religion In Government Classes, Americans United Say

An Arizona public charter school violated the First Amendment when it assigned a textbook that promotes religion to students in government classes, Americans United for Separation of Church and State says.

In a letter sent today to officials at Heritage Academy in Mesa, Americans United explains that a text used in the school’s mandatory senior government/U.S. Constitution class teaches students religious beliefs such as divine creation of all things, divine judgment after death and the Ten Commandments.

The Koch bros and Heritage and so on want all schools to be indoctrination centers for their warped, sick version of Christianity.

Public schools are a great threat to their agenda.

For one LAST time, "Which political candidates BLM targets and why"

http://www.democracynow.org/2015/8/19/when_black_lives_matter_met_clinton

JUAN GONZÁLEZ: And how do you respond to folks who say that, well, the Black Lives Matter now has been confronting several Democratic candidates, but the Republican candidates, of which there are many more, have largely been so far unscathed on the question of answering their policy issues in terms of the black community and of police violence and on mass incarceration?

DAUNASIA YANCEY: Yeah. But, well, every presidential candidate should expect to hear from us and expect to be held accountable. It’s actually a practice called "power mapping," where it’s similar to lobbying, where you actually map who’s closest to you on the issue and go to those folks first in order to force them to articulate their stance and then hold them accountable to it. So this movement is very strategic, and that’s what we’ve been doing.

This is what I like about Bernie Sanders

"If you don't have the guts to run for office on your ideas, then you shouldn't run for office at all."

Yeah, I got tons of problems with the way he is handling the BLM issue and I wont be happy until the African American community is happy, but I do believe him when he says this and I do believe he is truly an honest man.

Voting Rights Act, 50 years old today

WASHINGTON — President Obama will mark the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act Thursday by calling on Congress to restore the law and urging people to register to vote.

Many died for this, and the right wing is working to destroy those efforts.

You could say, sort of, that no other issue is more important, because everything stems from voting rights.

Educate me on your take on Common Core.

Do we have any TEACHERS here? I am interested in Common Core and your take...

A friend of mine, teacher, is visiting.

She is extremely intelligent and trying to explain to me what Common Core is and why the way it is being implemented is the problem, not that the system itself is a problem.

She says that expecting high school students to all of a sudden take on Common Core approaches to learning makes no sense, that it should be rolled out starting only at the beginning (kindergarten and up)

But she likes the Common Core method, teaching critical thinking, etc.

I am interested in what teachers who are dealing with this think.

I was quite bothered by what Claire McCaskill said today on Morning Joe, I think it was.

She acknowledged the feelings of the Trump supporters as "angry at our government" and she did it in an understanding way, sort of.

I dont know who she was talking against, but she was talking up Hillary obviously, but it really bothered me that she gave these people credibility.

They are NOT angry at some vague notion of "the government", they HATE President Obama for being black and that is what they are angry about.

"Dear Black America - Your demands for justice and equality is killing you."

*************Posted in the African American Group*********************

Some troll gave me an idea when he said that a letter entitled "Dear Black America" would never be allowed.

Here it is.

Dear friends in the African American community, your insistence on being treated exactly equal with white people is killing you.

If you could just get it through your thick skulls that you will be profiled and targeted by many, maybe most police, and that while you are being singled out for investigation, that you must show the utmost respect to police, because to not do so is a crime.

Well, it is not actually a crime, but if you do it you can be damn sure it will be seen as one not only by the police but by many white people.

And above all, please stop hurting the feelings of white people who dont want to be reminded of their privilege.
