Clinton, whether she knows it or not, is retelling a racist—though popular—version of American history which held sway in this country until relatively recently. Sometimes going under the handle of “The Dunning School,” and other times going under the “Lost Cause” label, the basic idea is that Reconstruction was a mistake brought about by vengeful Northern radicals. The result was a savage and corrupt government which in turn left former Confederates, as Clinton puts, it “discouraged and defiant.” snip...
Yet until relatively recently, this self-serving version of history was dominant. It is almost certainly the version fed to Hillary Clinton during her school years, and possibly even as a college student. Hillary Clinton is no longer a college student. And the fact that a presidential candidate would imply that Jim Crow and Reconstruction were equal, that the era of lynching and white supremacist violence would have been prevented had that same violence not killed Lincoln, and that the violence was simply the result of rancor, the absence of a forgiving spirit, and an understandably “discouraged” South is chilling.
I have spent the past two years somewhat concerned about the effects of national amnesia, largely because I believe that a problem can not be effectively treated without being effectively diagnosed. I don’t know how you diagnose the problem of racism in America without understanding the actual history

I was an angry 19 year old, who hated GWB with every single fiber in my body.
I originally supported Dr. Dean ,but when he failed to clinch the nomination I supported J. Kerry.
When Kerry lost ( OH results were bullshit) I said to myself I would do everything in my power to never support the Establishment candidate ever again. That time came in 2007 ,When a skinny ,funny named man from Senator from Illinois declared his plans to run for president. Barack Obama was my candidate,
Barack Obama was a visionary, and someone that won by being so. He laid out plans for Healthcare, Closing Gitmo, vote against the war in Iraq, Hope & Change, and energized youth voters.. He took on the Clinton Machine and won ! After a few years, Pres. Obama shifted from being a visionary to a pragmatist and the results were a bloodbath in 2010, and 2014 midterms. Why do Democrats give up during midterm elections ? Answer is simple: those in Establishment hate progressives so they hand pick shitty candidates to run and than pass blame on the voters
When Sen. Sanders talks about a political revolution,it is a transformation of the party and the electorate.
I do not have crystal ball nor some tarot cards to tell me the future ,but I do know that those underestimating the Sanders campaign are in for a huge shock .
Give me a Visionary who will fight for me vs a Pragmatic who will sell me out

Chelsea Clinton never has to worry about being covered
She never has to worry about high cost of prescriptions!
She never has to worry about private insurance high premiums !
The everyday American barley gets by with the paycheck they get (weekly or bi- weekly)
The everyday American doesn't have 600k jobs from line up for them
The everyday American wakes their asses up every single morning to provide for their families.
The everyday American does not live in $10 million home
She is the 1%
She is epitome of white privilege
She will never know what it means to struggle nor to make sacrifices
She is out of touch with the everyday American
I do thank Chelsea for showing me why I do not support her mother
I do thank Chelsea for showing me why people like her and parents love the status quo (its all about $)
I do thank Chelsea because you set the fire within me, that will push me to do whatever can to make sure Sen. Sanders is the nominee.

Millennial women are fighting as hard as their predecessors to ensure that women have total control over their bodies and seen as equals.
So why would the chairwoman of a DNC say such a thing ? Why would HRC during forum when asked state she needs data ?
Clinton is asked if she agrees with DWS that women of this generation are "complacent." Clinton's answer: "I don't have any data." #DemForum

In Insider Trading Settlement, Steven Cohen Will Be Free to Manage Outside Money in 2 Years

The long investigation of Steven A. Cohen may finally have come to an end with a settlement that will bar the billionaire investor from managing money for outside investors for the next two years.
The settlement is likely to be seen as a victory for Mr. Cohen, one of the most successful stock traders on Wall Street, who was facing the prospect of a lifetime ban from managing outside money.
“Resolving the case gives us certainty and opens the path to raising outside capital,” Mr. Cohen wrote in a memo to employees.
The settlement, announced on Friday, heads off a showdown with the Securities and Exchange Commission before an administrative law judge. The S.E.C. had accused Mr. Cohen, 59, of failing to properly supervise Mathew Martoma, a former trader at Mr. Cohen’s former hedge fund who was convicted of insider trading
The S.E.C. settlement order is striking for its strong words about Mr. Cohen. The agency blamed him for ignoring red flags that should have prompted Mr. Cohen to question whether Mr. Martoma was engaging in insider trading.
If Mr. Cohen seeks to manage money for outside investors beginning in 2018, the settlement requires him to obtain an independent consultant through the end of 2019. Even before then, his family office will be subject to periodic examinations by the S.E.C. and must retain an independent consultant to monitor its activities

Exclusive: Lawyers Went to Rahm Emanuel, Then Quashed the Laquan McDonald Video
The mayor’s men demanded that dashcam video be kept confidential for at least several years as part of a $5 million settlement with the teenager’s family.CHICAGO — City of Chicago lawyers, after meeting with Mayor Rahm Emanuel, demanded the Laquan McDonald family bury the video showing the killing of their son by a police officer.
Emanuel said last month that Stephen Patton, Chicago’s corporation counsel, briefed him “towards the end of March” about what the dashcam video showed and about the proposed $5 million settlement with McDonald’s estate. After that briefing, Patton’s second-in-command, Thomas Platt, drafted settlement language to keep the dashcam video hidden for at least several years, according to emails reviewed by The Daily Beast.
Michael Robbins, an attorney for the McDonald estate, balked at the demand.
“The provision as drafted, that we maintain the confidentiality, of the materials — principally the dash-cam-video — until the criminal charges are concluded, which could be in effect for years, is entirely unreasonable,” he wrote to Platt on April 6. “Nor was any such broad sweeping confidentiality provision discussed during our meetings.”
“I’ll call you,” Platt wrote Robbins on April 7.
That was the same day that Emanuel was fighting for his political life in a runoff election after he failed to win 50 percent of the primary vote in the February. (Emanuel won with 56 percent against Chuy Garcia.)
Emanuel has maintained since McDonald’s death that he has never seen the dashcam video, but the emails prove the mayor knew exactly what the footage showed when city lawyers negotiated a deal that would at least delay the video’s release. Emanuel’s lawyers were offering $5 million in hush money to keep the video hidden just weeks before the runoff election.
And the biggest part of the deal — that McDonald family attorneys agreed to keep the video to themselves until criminal proceedings were concluded — just so happened to be inked the day after Emanuel was re-elected.
The first draft was sent to the McDonald estate’s attorneys by Platt on March 31. The draft said that the estate would only be free to release the video after potential charges were dismissed by a prosecutor or after a criminal trial was over. Emanuel and his underlings at the Law Department would have preferred this, because it meant the video would have been buried under lengthy legal proceedings that could have taken years.
On April 8, one day after Platt's phone call, the McDonald estate's attorneys suddenly agreed to keep the dashcam video hidden. The only thing that changed in the settlement agreement regarding the video was the deletion of a line that said the estate agreed with the city releasing video would harm ongoing criminal investigations. Exxon Mobil Under Investigation in New York Over Climate Statements

The New York attorney general has begun a sweeping investigation of Exxon Mobil to determine whether the company lied to the public about the risks of climate change or to investors about how those risks might hurt the oil business.
According to people with knowledge of the investigation, Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman issued a subpoena Wednesday evening to Exxon Mobil, demanding extensive financial records, emails and other documents.
The focus includes the company’s activities dating to the late 1970s, including a period of at least a decade when Exxon Mobil funded groups that sought to undermine climate science. A major focus of the investigation is whether the company adequately warned investors about potential financial risks stemming from society’s need to limit fossil-fuel use.
Kenneth P. Cohen, vice president for public affairs at Exxon Mobil, said on Thursday that the company had received the subpoena and was still deciding how to respond.
