Bush, Clinton are Wall Street's favorites, donations show

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Jeb Bush is leading the U.S. presidential campaign by at least one measure: financial support from Wall Street.

The former Florida governor who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination received more financial backing than any competitor - Democrat or Republican - from employees of the major Wall Street banks between July and the end of September, campaign filings released on Thursday show.

Employees from Bank of America , Citigroup , Credit Suisse , Goldman Sachs , HSBC , JPMorgan Chase , Morgan Stanley and UBS gave Bush a combined $107,000. He also received the maximum-allowed $2,700 from billionaire hedge fund manager Leon Cooperman.

The sums are miniscule compared to Bush's total haul for the quarter of $13.4 million. But his popularity among financiers is starkly different from his standing in the multitude of national polls.

Bush, seen as a moderate in the crowded Republican field where 14 candidates are competing for the nomination, trails Donald Trump, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina, three candidates who have never held elected office, in every major poll.

The second most popular candidate on Wall Street according to giving patterns is Democratic front-runner and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She took in nearly $84,000 from employees of the same banks.

I'm saying my prayers that this movement continues and gets stronger by the week.

It seems we can only hear stories like this here on DU. I can imagine a news-voice jumping in:

"Stay tuned to DU for the latest on the Sanders campaign 2016. " We'll have in depth interviews and analysis. So tune in to Bob and Mary tonight at 10"

I just disabled the plug-in add-on and things are working.

I'm using Firefox and here on DU it was freezing every 10 seconds. I unchecked the add-on box and its not freezing up. Wowow. I'm happy. This plugin problem has dogged me for a month. My nightmare is over.

If you have Firefox, do this:

Go to menu and click on add-on.
Click on plugins on left side of page
Go to Shockwave flash and click "options"
You should get page that has check mark box
Uncheck it then close out hitting circle icon.
And Wa-la.
You've just ended your flash freeze-up problem.
I can't be sure what options says since its not showing after shutting it off, but click anything that looks like it allows flash to be disabled.

Cheers

What I seem to read here many times is that MOR Dem's just wanna win.

To me, it sounds like a silly excuse to get their Wall Street candidate in. And that's all it is--an excuse. I don't wanna just win. I want someone who thinks more of main street than anything else. That's priority number one in my book if you catch my drift.

Agreed. Chucky was much more conversational than antagonistic

People working on Bernie's campaign should use this video for house parties/undecided voters.

And hopefully a lot of people saw Bernie's position on issues in this interview and have to come away with a good opinion of him as a candidate.

The issues just roll off his tounge in a simple manner.

And I think he handled the Syria question well--referring to having other regional countries get involved who have more of a stake than we do. Well done Sir.

If indeed, a significant number of R-voters go for Bernie in the primaries, Hillary will be out, done, finished, kaput.

Thank you for caring

Is there a video available?

Too poor to afford cable (at least until I finish school). Working on M.A. in Education. Free tuition now would make my life a lot less stressful. So backing Bernie on free college tuition is a no-brainer to me.
