Conway: I've talked to NBC about Trump singling out Katy Tur

Source: Politico

Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said Thursday that her boss “didn’t mean it in any malicious way” when he singled out NBC News reporter Katy Tur by name at a rally Wednesday in Miami.
Trump was delivering a regular riff for him on the campaign trail, complaining that the media refuse to show footage of or otherwise report on the size of his rallies. Then he taunted Tur by name, pointing at the press area near the back of the rally and directing the ire of attendees at her.

"There’s something happening. They’re not reporting it. Katy — you’re not reporting it, Katy," Trump said. "But there’s something happening, Katy. There’s something happening, Katy."

Trump previously criticized Tur, calling her a "third-rate journalist" during a December rally.

Asked during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” about Trump’s decision to rile up the crowd with malice toward Tur, Conway was reluctant to say much.

“didn’t mean it in any malicious way” MY ASS.

Pardon the vulgarity. Mine, not Trump's.

Rebel groups clash with each other in Syria's Aleppo

Source: Reuters

Syrian rebel factions fought each other in besieged eastern Aleppo on Thursday, officials from two of the groups and a war monitor said, potentially undermining their efforts to fend off a major Russian-backed offensive.

Rebel groups have been plagued by disunity and infighting throughout the 5 1/2-year-old conflict, for ideological reasons, over tactical differences or in disputes over territory.

Fighters of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, Nour al-Din al-Zinki and Abu Amara attempted to seize positions and weapons from Fastaqim, one of its officials said. Fateh al-Sham is a jihadist group. Zinki and Fastaqim fight under the Free Syrian Army (FSA) banner.

An official from the Zinki group's politburo said the clashes had finished and there were efforts under way to resolve their dispute.

So, the jihadist group (Jabbat Fateh al-Sham) attacked some of the "moderate" rebels (the Zinki and Fastaqim groups) that we are backing?

Man, we should arm those "moderate" rebels even more then to crush the jihadists, no?

Oh, wait...

"An official from the Zinki group's politburo said the clashes had finished and there were efforts under way to resolve their dispute."

Oh...

So our moderate rebels are resolving their disputes WITH the jihadists? --face palm --

Saudi activist on hunger strike in jail: rights group

Source: Reuters

A Saudi activist has begun a hunger strike after being kept in jail past his release date for an eight-year sentence, a human rights group said on Thursday.

Khaled al-Omair had been due to be freed on Oct. 5, after completing a prison term for crimes related to a planned protest against Israeli bombing of Gaza, New York-based Human Rights Watch said in a statement.

He began his hunger strike at al-Hair prison in Riyadh the following day, the statement added, citing Saudi activists.

Another rights group, Amnesty International, reported that he had been tortured and placed in solitary confinement for extended periods while in detention.

Russia closed down the Amnesty International office there when AI started to investigate similar abuses of a Russian political dissident.

Does Saudi Arabia even HAVE an Amnesty International office to close?

Honestly, I don't see much difference in the behavior in this regard of our staunch ally Saudi Arabia and human-rights abusing Russia.

Where's the outrage?

EU commissioner apologizes for remarks on China, gays

Source: Reuters

Germany's European commissioner apologized for offending China, gay people and French-speaking Belgians on Thursday as the EU executive tried to end days of scandalized commentary that might have jeopardized trade.

Guenther Oettinger said in a statement released by the Commission that he now realized his remarks to a German business forum last week had "hurt" people. He had called Chinese people "slit-eyes", joked about "compulsory gay marriage" and railed at a Belgian region's efforts to block an EU-Canada trade deal.

A spokesman for the EU executive, which is trying to improve relations with Beijing despite disputes over trade policy and human rights, said Oettinger had released the apology after a call from Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday.

Beneath a Close Election Contest Lie Deep Rifts Among Groups (POLL)

Source: ABC News

Profound rifts among groups lie beneath the close presidential contest, underscoring the country’s fundamental political divisions not only by race, gender and education but also by factors ranging from religious belief to residential area.

Overall, likely voters divide 47-45 percent between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in the latest ABC News/Washington Post tracking poll. Third-party candidates Gary Johnson and Jill Stein have 3 and 2 percent support, respectively.

Hillary Clinton Still Leads a Tighter Race, Times/CBS News Poll Shows

Source: NY Times

Heading into the final days of the presidential campaign, the race has settled back into a tight contest, with Hillary Clinton holding an edge over Donald J. Trump after a month of tumult. Most voters say their minds are made up and late revelations about both candidates made no significant difference to them, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll released Thursday.

Five days before Election Day, the margin between the candidates is narrow, with 45 percent of likely voters supporting Mrs. Clinton, the Democratic candidate, to 42 percent for Mr. Trump, the Republican nominee. The difference is within the poll’s margin of sampling error. Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate, has the support of 5 percent of likely voters, and the Green Party nominee, Jill Stein, takes 4 percent.

More than 22 million Americans have already cast their ballots, and roughly one in five likely voters who participated in the Times/CBS poll said they had already voted.

National polling averages showed a growing lead for Mrs. Clinton in mid-October after the release of the “Access Hollywood” recording from 2005 in which Mr. Trump speaks crudely about women. As women from Mr. Trump’s past came out over the next weeks to report that he had sexually harassed them, his poll numbers dipped.

Poll: 'Shy Trump' voters are a mirage

Source: Politico

Donald Trump has insisted for months that polls are failing to capture the breadth of his support because some of his backers won’t admit it to a pollster over the telephone.
He’s wrong.
Story Continued Below

According to a new study commissioned by POLITICO and conducted this past weekend by Morning Consult, a hidden army of Trump voters that's undetected by the polls is unlikely to materialize on Election Day.

The study — which was comprised of interviews with likely voters conducted over the phone with a live interviewer, and other interviews conducted online without a personal interaction — showed only a slight, not-statistically-significant difference in their effect on voters’ preferences for president.

That’s despite an emerging disparity in the public polling: Clinton leads Trump by 4 percentage points in national, live-interview phone polls, according to HuffPost Pollster’s average as of Wednesday night — but only by 2.6 points in online and automated phone polls.

Poll: Trump catches Clinton in New Hampshire

Source: Politico

Donald Trump has pulled even with Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire, according to a new poll released Thursday — the latest public survey to show cracks in Clinton’s once-safe firewall.

The WBUR-FM poll, conducted by MassINC Polling Group, shows Trump leading by a single point, 40 percent to 39 percent. Libertarian Gary Johnson is at 10 percent, Green Party nominee Jill Stein is at 3 percent and a combined 7 percent of likely voters are undecided or prefer another candidate.

In fact, the WBUR poll points to a GOP sweep of statewide races. In the state’s high-stakes Senate race, incumbent GOP Sen. Kelly Ayotte has a 6-point lead over Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan, 51 percent to 45 percent. And Republican Chris Sununu is 5 points ahead of Democrat Colin Van Ostern in the race to replace Hassan as governor, 49 percent to 44 percent.

The WBUR poll is an outlier.

Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump tied in Colorado, new poll shows

Source: Denver Post

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are tied in Colorado, a new poll shows, entering the final days of the 2016 presidential race.

The University of Denver poll released Wednesday found Clinton and Trump deadlocked at 39 percent in a four-way race, in a survey of registered likely voters conducted Saturday through Monday. The third-party candidates combined for 15 percent with another 8 percent undecided. The poll’s margin of error is plus-or-minus 4.2 percent.

A head-to-head match between the major party candidates put Clinton at 42 percent and Trump at 41 percent, a statistical tie.
...

Floyd Ciruli, a veteran Colorado pollster who conducted the survey, said the numbers are “reflective of the fact that this environment has turned negative for Clinton,” notably the FBI inquiry into additional e-mails with possible ties to her tenure as secretary of state. Among voters who already cast ballots, Clinton sits in a much better position at 45 percent to 38 percent for Trump — a number that appears to support early voting figures showing Democrats with a 23,000 ballot advantage.
