Well well well...

... if it isn't the delicate Southern Gentleman from South Carolina, world famous political showboater, making a fuss about political showboating. That's rich.

Land! I do believe he's about to have another hissy fit! He'll stop his feet until he gets his way! Someone pour him another mint julep, give him a paper fan, and sit him down in a white wooden rocker on the breezy side of the front porch! The aroma of magnolias and gardenias, and the sight of the Spanish moss waving in the gentle breeze might be soothing for him. He certainly does get worked up and emotional over the most inconsequential things. You can tell he's getting all flustered and bothered because his forehead is starting to glisten with little beads of perspiration.

For what reason are they doing this?

What's the goal? What do they want to accomplish?

Is this a real photo? Or is it one of the "prototype" photoshop jobs that, in the past, have been falsely claimed as being a "real" billboard (ie: the billboard claiming to be in the Atlanta area, but which was clearly a photoshop).

After seeing one obvious "fake" from this group, I now wonder if I can trust that any billboard of theirs is genuine (mobile or otherwise).

Obviously not.

Or she's just chasing headlines.

Lot's of weak, impotent and failed politicians do that. Sometimes it's disgusting... mostly it's laughable. They invite the scorn and ridicule that's deservedly heaped upon them.

Here's the thing that I was thinking about: The "virtual convention" set a new standard...

... and I believe that future conventions should continue to be virtual. (Or, post-covid, maybe just one FINAL day at a convention center with a big balloon drop.)

And even though there may be post-covid crowds and spectators at future inaugurations... I really like the egalitarian aspect of having a coast-to-coast televised "parade" and a special concert and speakers to end the day.

It was SPECTACULAR!!

The Democrats and the Democratic Party have reached NEW HEIGHTS and set a NEW STANDARD for both events!!

⭐⭐⭐ Thank you! ⭐⭐⭐

Actually it was made clear and people were saying an additional $1,400.

Here is one example:

This is from December 30, just over two weeks ago.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/12/30/stimulus-checks-2000-dollars/

"But runoff races for Georgia’s two Senate seats — one has been clinched by Democrat Raphael Warnock and Democrat Jon Ossoff holds a lead over Republican David Perdue for the other — are once again rallying congressional Democrats and President-elect Joe Biden around the idea of an additional $1,400 in direct relief, on top of the $600 checks that were included in last month’s stimulus package."

The House bill that had been voted on was to increase the amount to $2,000.
McConnell wouldn't let the Senate vote on that bill.

Biden made the argument that if Warnock and Ossof were elected, then the Senate would vote on that bill and pass it.
⭐⭐⭐ Thank you! ⭐⭐⭐

Biden, Pelosi and Schumer do not need to be lectured by anyone...

... they know what needs to be done. They know what's possible. They know how to count votes. Facts of the matter are these: it's the Biden Administration; it's Biden's agenda; we already know (and voted on) the party's platform and agenda; it's all well known, no secrets were kept, nothing was held-back. This will not be the Bernie-lite administration.

Joe has got this. Trust him and let him do the work that needs to be done. He knows what he's doing. This ain't his first time at the rodeo.

Joe/Kamala or Biden/Harris 2020!!
They're stronger together & can't be bought!!
Jump on the Biden Bandwagon & abandon the revolution!!

Whatever criticism that comes her way is fair and deserved...

Whatever criticism that comes her way is fair and deserved, from what I've seen and offered. But I also think that by their very nature, critical remarks naturally fall short of swooning praise that so many are accustomed to. As a result, and in comparison, her fans often perceive mild and ordinary criticism to be "bashing". But I think that fair-minded people understand that's simply not the case. It serves no good purpose for anyone to engage in a hyper-defensive position that ends up being completely unfair to those who have valid opinions that deserve to be expressed. I think that there can be very little doubt that eventually, when members are not allowed to scrutinize and/or criticize our elected representatives... and when Democratic critics are being silenced or bullied, then what that means is that certain politicians are effectively receiving special treatment (by popular demand.)

Look, all I'm saying is that Democrats should be able to speak honestly about all of our Democratic elected officials. You know... "holding their feet to the fire" and all that. --- That's fair, right? I think every reasonable minded adult can agree on that, right?

You are correct in your observations and I completely understand your diffidence in expressing perfectly reasonable critiques or pointing out other inconsistencies.

I'm reminded of a simple classroom science experiment from middle school where the student submerges both hands in a bucket of water. Left-hand bucket is filled with ice water and the right-hand bucket is filled with very hot tap water. After one minute, both hands are then submerged into a third bucket filled with room temperature water. As a result of being "acclimated" the the extreme conditions of very cold and very hot... each hand now perceives the room temperature water as being very hot and very cold... simultaneously! But how can that be? In reality, the bucket in the middle is only room temperature... neither hot nor cold... but the subject of the experiments perceives it as being two different temperatures at the same time.

Even if it were an open seat... she'd have a very difficult time being competitive statewide.

Additionally, there's a good chance that her very safe and very blue district will be redrawn (or that it may disappear entirely) the next time that these things are done. Her career may be short-lived in that case because it will be much more difficult for her to appeal to voters in a more diverse district. The same thing applies to the predictions that she may be considering a run for the mayor of NYC.

Of course all these things do not square with her recent comments that indicated she would like to leave politics entirely and live on a farm somewhere. I think that will pretty much doom any chance she has of finding an experienced party member who is willing to spend their time mentoring her and grooming her for continued work within the party. Such acts of kindness would most likely be reserved for up-and-coming individuals who showed great promise, who demonstrated loyalty to the party, and who had a clear desire to excel and continue down a political path that benefited the Democratic party.

It will be interesting to see how all of this unfolds. But it's my expectation that she won't be around by the time the next presidential election rolls around. We'll just have to wait and see.

"MacArthur Park" -- Richard Harris 🆚 Donna Summer

"MacArthur Park" is a song written by American singer-songwriter Jimmy Webb that was originally recorded by Irish singer Richard Harris in 1968. Harris's version peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number four on the UK Singles Chart. "MacArthur Park" was subsequently covered by numerous artists, including ... a number one Billboard Hot 100 disco arrangement by Donna Summer in 1978.[1]

In 1967, producer Bones Howe had asked Webb to create a pop song with different movements and changing time signatures. Webb delivered "MacArthur Park" to Howe with "everything he wanted", but Howe did not care for the ambitious arrangement and unorthodox lyrics and the song was rejected by the group the Association, for whom it was originally intended.[2]

Which version do you like the best?
