First i want to say that this was my experience till the age of 7-8 living in iran. I grew up and im now married to a lovely american women and i consider my self straight but still have sometimes erotic fantasies about men. Anyway that part is for another day.
My posts are generally geared towards islam muslims and living in iran. I left all religions in my late teens when i was living here in america. I do consider my self an agnostic.
The reason i wanted to write the post was because i see a lot of people having such a hard time understanding that this shooter who could potentially be gay could do such a thing. Have a dating gay app on your phone and then turn around and murder gay people?
The simplistic explanation i can give is just like how you hear these Conservative or christian fundamentalist preach against homosexuality and years later you find out there sleeping with the same sex. Except with muslims the guilt can be even more over bearing. Unlike most religions that speak out against gay people. In islam homosexuality is explicitly banned sharia and qualifies for automatic execution. In fact there are ways you are supposed to execute a gay man. For example dropping a wall on top of them. Sometimes you see the taliban do this.
I wrote in another post that the first hanging in iran i ever saw was of a young teen who was executed for being gay. Generally speaking there is a tremendous amount of homosexuality in muslim countries from the ages of 6 to about 18 or so. This isnt because genetically muslims are just more gay. Its because the males are strictly forbidden to touch, play with, and entract with girls at younger ages.
My story involved another young boy who lived on our street. When our parents were not home we would go to my house and play doctor. At 7 or so you dont have the mental capacity to understand all of it execept for the urges. Because we went to schools and classes that had all males. All our freinds that we played with were all males. And girls were considered dirty and had cooties (this i think at that age is universal) we were only exposed to other boys. I guess the best way to describe it is like gay or straight when your in jail for a long time with the same sex its only natural to engage in sexual behavior with them.
The guilty part was always the sense of deep deep hatred. Because from the very of youngest age the extreme anti homophobia is present. Not just with the larger islamic society but at home as well. The mosques you attend the mullahs or imams routinely speak out against homosexuality. Speak of killing gays and how they have to be put to death. This causes extreme anxiety for a young gay man anywhere (you even see it here in america) but its much more pronounced in islamic countries. You begin to have rage agianst not just your self but larger society. You want to lash out. Some just break down and admit it to there families. Depending where that happens (Pakistan, Afghanistan, some parts of iran) you basically never hear from them agian. Usually a honor killing. The females are usually strangled by the father or an uncle then rapped in a blanket or rug of some kind and buried with little fan fare. The boys are usually hanged if turned over to the public authoritarians or again the brothers uncles cousins will kill him usually by stabbing sometimes shooting if guns are accessible.
In some cases the killing is done by someone who himself is gay but because of extreme guilt and wanting to prove himself participates directly in the executions. In fact many suicide bombers that you generally never know or hear who they are etc.. take that "job" to cleanse themselves of there impurity and hope to gain a place in heaven. This is something that happens in groups like al quida and isis all the time. Because sexual repressiveness is so profound in Muslim culture. The islamic leaders understand this. I mean they cant execute every person who has feelings or urges to have sex. So sex slaves from wars and rapes ESPECIALLY of non muslim women happens without consequence. Because the sex slave is considered an infidel or kaffir. Muslims solders who are married can take sex slaves without technically committing adultery which again is punishable by death. In iran as you get older sexual feelings are less restrictive as long as you do it within the confines of islamic law. In iran for example you get whats called temporary marriages. There basically very short contracts to have sex without getting into trouble because during the time your having sex you are temperory married.
I admit defeat
Hillary won the primary.. but i just want to say im not happy about this. Its hard to describe the feeling but it feels like even though i feel like were all on the same side. Because i have a hard time supporting hillary that im not wanted. Not part of the family any longer. Its a bitter pill to swallow. I have been mostly undecided on the in the primary although i admit i have had a bias in favor of bernie,. I just love hes name i love hes genuineness. I love hes honesty. i love everything about him. i guess part of it growing up in a country where extreme anti semetism was taught to me. To be able to vote for a good man of jewish descent makes me proud. Proud to tell the extremism radical back home to go fuck themselves.
Im in California so im probably not needed by the hillary supporters to help clinton in california so off in exile i go. I will say though if i trump had any chance in california i would never stay home. But alas clinton should win this state easy without me.
So congrats Hillary supporters, i know many of you love hillary and the idea that finally a women was elected in the primary to become the president of the united states is historic and exciting. I wish you guys well. I do have my i voted sticker on to remind my self why i vote in the first place. Even if the candidate I'm rooting for doesnt win. But sad and feel defeated tonight.
From undecided to will be voting for Bernie in California
I have been one of the few undecideds coming into the California primary. I love Bernie's foreign policy ideas and agree more with hillary clintons economic ideas. I think the brilliants of hillary combined with bills economic genius would really boost our economy.
I know bernie has a tough hill to climb as the delegate counts dont look great. We shall see what happens in California but he will have my vote in california. but i will not be sitting out the general as theres to much at stake if trump gets elected. So i hope bernie wins the primary if there is any chance of that left but will vote for hillary in general but theres 2 things i need.
No more wars or getting involved in wars or conflicts. We have had enough as a country. Hillary has had her hand in every single war this country has fought since afghanistan. Libyia was a terrible terrible mistake and i do not want to get involved in anything else. I dont care what happens in yemen, ukriane, i dont care. Please stop with the foreign interventions. Thats all i ask. IF she commit to not engaging in wars or conflicts (obviously with the exception of attack on our homeland) she will easily have my vote. But if during the general, she advocates arming rebels in syria or yemen or anything that involvs us getting into sending our troops or creating more refugees im out. I dont think its to much to ask. We have had enough conflicts and wars to last us a while.
the 2nd thing is TPP. i would very much appreciate it if we abandoned that disastrous anti union trade deal.

gay, lesbian, transgender, are almost always the easiest to pick on in any society. just read an article that a 16 year old gay boy in isis held terrority was stoned to death by a crowd. With all the problems in the world, its always amusing that what bathroom someone uses or if a man chooses to love another man is always at the forefront of poeples mind looking for excuses to cause harm. its the 21st century for god sakes get over it.

Its disheartening to think that after thousands of years. Iran is on pace this year for a record number of executions. If you consider the the population and the amount of people there planning on executing they seem to be even a head of china per capita.

Apparently my corgi has higher moral standards then saudi cleric
I was showing my wife the video of the saudi cleric who was teaching young muslim married couples how to beat there wifes. anyway we were both laughing at how ridiculous and crazy these wahhabi cleric really are and at the same time how sad it is that people still live like this.
Anyway during the course of the goofing around i picked up a pencil (about the size of the stick in the saudi video) and started play hitting my wife with it. As soon as the motion of hitting and my wife going ouchhhh echoed in the room. our sweet 2 year old pembrook corgi for one of the first few times growled at me. Me and my wife thinking it was cute play acted the back and forth but apparently our dog has HIGHER moral standards then a saudi cleric and started barking at me in hes big boy bark and growled like in a way saying " HEY! Get your hands off my momma" and the irony of a dog having more compassion towards beating your significant other? The real irony of it? Dogs are considered dirty animals in islam.

IF saudi arabia was implicit in the 9-11 attacks SHOULD we have attacked them?
The fresh wounds of the iraq war is still scar on this country. But out of courousity. IF its finally proven to be 100 percent that the saudi arabian government was involved in 9-11 Should we have invaded and or attacked that country?
For me im torn. With saudi arabia being the birth place of islam. id say no as any attack on them might trigger a global war with muslims (although in a small way that seems to be going on anyway) but at the same time. This wahhabi bullshit this country has influenced around the world has gotten many people killed. Not just 9-11 but many innocent people including many Muslims.
Undecided in California but hate the idea of voting for hillary
As a small business owner in california, through hard work and risk iv been able to build a middle class life for my family. I pay my employees above the california minimum wage law and my managers almost double the california minimum wage. The taxes in some of sanders ideas scares me as im not sure how it would affect my business. Iv worked really hard for what i have and the idea of losing it does scare me.
THAT BEING SAID.. although hillary might be better for me as a small business tax wise.. her war mongering is something i cannot get over.
I remember in 2001 when we were going into afghanistan.. being from the middle east and seeing 9-11 on tv and the emotions involved i certainly understand the need to take out osama.. i understand the need to defend our selves.. But then came the iraq war.
The iraq war.. the master plan drawn up by cheney (always believed bush was too stupid to think of the iraq war by himself) and the neocons in office.. I KNEW it would be a disaster. My family fought in the front lines of the iran iraq war in the 80s not by choice but because our homes were right on the boarder where the war took place. I knew how hard war is first hand.
But that didnt stop cheney and CO to go to over and the democrats in congress to go a long.. one of them was hillary.. now shes apologised for iraq and said she was misled.. misled how? by her nose into going into a war that has cost us so much? okay fine.. ill take your word for it. BUT.. wait a second.. the bush presidency ended in 08.. cheney was gone.. but NOT CLINTON.. oh she continued..
The next war for her was libya.. turning that country into a terrorist haven that al quida and isis could dream off.. but see that wasnt enough for her.. next for her was SYRIA.. i mean this women HAS NOT FUCKING SEEN A WAR SHE DOESNT LIKE and im sorry but bush has been fucking gone for 8 years and this women is still at it!! or was.. and she will be if she becomes president.
Think about this for one second.. if she supports another war lets call it ukraine during her presidency.. that means she has been supported part of or directed and personaly been involved in 5 wars in 16 years... and im just tired of war.. im tired of it.. i dont want us in iraq.. in libya , or syria.. and sure as hell not ukraine or ANY country.. and thats why i hate the idea of having to vote for her here in California. I hate the idea of voting for someone that it seems as if her hobby and past time is to get us military involved in some conflict somewhere.
I know those who defend islam have there hearts in the right place
People always ask me how can i be so critical of islam considering i was born into the culture and religion and being from there. I dont have a lot of posts but most of the ones i do especially the earlier ones deal with this extremism and where it comes from.
What makes me so angry and obviously its hard to decide what can make you angrier in this situations.. obviously the innocent innocent lost of lives is right at the top but what makes it unbreakable for me to see these attacks is that hospitable of people in western civilization welcoming us with open arms. The heart breaking aspect of the people that died in the past 24 hours could have been the same people just a week or a month ago protesting the so called "right wing islamaphobe" and carrying banners of welcome muslims to europe.. only to be killed by those same people they had there hearts opened up to. THAT is the hardest part for me..
The truth of the matter is this isnt going to stop.. in fact its only going to get worse and worse.. with saudi arabia being allowed to finance the endless mosques whose preachers across europe teach the wahhabi form of rhetoric that they teach and left unchecked.
Sure there will be more solidarity protests with muslims in europe.. with the refugees in europe.. but as those jews who wear jewish clothing start being harassed in cities with large muslim populations with the police helpless to stop it. Immigration out of countries like france and to israel will start becoming more appealing. We in fact are already starting to see this now. the solidarity protests will have a few less people.. as the parents of the these dead kids in Belgium start burying there loved ones there will be even less so.
For those who have the facebook apps that allows you to paint your profile picture with a picture of the flag of the country that just got attacked by an islamic extremist. I hope the youll consider putting up not just the pictures of flags of european capitals.. but Nigeria, and the Philippines, and Thailand, and turkey, and Algeria, and tunisia, and Morocco, and india where innocent people have there lifes cutt short by some young man whose mind has become so warped that he thinks by killing Innocent people somehow he will go to heaven.. The unchecked saudi arabian funded wahhabi wing of the islamic religion will put Muslims against muslims.. jews agianst muslims Christians against Muslims..
Wait till the coming war of shai vs sunni war of islam starts hitting european capitals.. I know many here dont want to jump on the band wagon of bashing muslims.. painting broad strokes.. etc.. etc.. that is commendable. But turning the blind eye to wahhabism.. to the terrible things that saudi arabia does is not defending innocent muslims. On the contrary it is laying the ground work for more conflict. The strategy should not be to go after the muslim family down the street. The strategy should be who built the mosque that the family is going to. and was it built using saudi arabian money. Because if it was i promise you that the person who paid for the mosque is the same person who gets to choose the Imam. If that imam is wahhabi believing jew hating isis sympthetic imam who has access to young muslim kids. The please please i beg of you. Dont pretend not to know where they come from.
Right wing going after obama for castro raising obama hand while it flops
It was always hard for me explain my support for obama.. but it was always in the little things.. when i would try to explain to anybody who hated obama they would just laugh at me and when i would try and explain it to fellow progressives they just would think i was odd.
But this video that the right is using to try and make obama look foolish is one of the reasons. You see obama is creating dialogue with a county that the political leaders probably hate us.. he knows that they are not our best friends and things can go wrong fast. Hes doing the openness with cuba not because he necessary personally wants to but knows its the right thing to do.. its time.. its been to much time.. to many years of neighbors hating each other. He knows that by doing this the chances of conflict dramatically is reduced..
But when castro tried to raise hes hand he also knew deep down inside that they are a dictator who are keeping innocent political prisoners.. that they are not a free country like we are.. that they do have huge potential but they are not there yet. and he doesn't want to be rude to this old man who is trying to raise hes hand. but a part of him.. the part of him that cares about the innocent poeple in cuba who are being mistreated cannot let him raise hes hand in truimph as if hes supporting 100 percent what castro has done.
See with obama the left and right might not always agree with him.. in fact the right hates him and uses situation like this to tear him down.. but its situations like this that i see hes subtle kindess and vision of whats best for both countries even though it might not best for democrats. I will miss you obama. I will especially miss you every time i turn on the tv and the potential person that could replace you is that moron trump.
