FBI: Milwaukee man planned mass shooting at Masonic temple

CNN)—A 23-year-old Milwaukee resident charged with illegally possessing machine guns had planned a massacre at a Masonic temple in the city, federal officials said Tuesday.
Samy Mohamed Hamzeh was arrested Monday after buying two automatic weapons and a silencer from undercover agents, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin said in a statement.
The investigation thwarted an attack "that could have resulted in significant injury and/or loss of life," FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert J. Shields said in the statement announcing the arrest.
It was not immediately clear whether Hamzeh has retained legal representation.
A criminal complaint released by prosecutors alleges that Hamzeh toured a Masonic center in Milwaukee earlier this month with two FBI informants and then detailed plans for an attack in a meeting with them later that night.
Hamzeh allegedly said he was defending Islam and that he hoped to kill at least 30 people, according to the complaint.
The complaint contains chilling excerpts of comments allegedly made by Hamzeh, captured in a recording and translated from Arabic into English.
"If I got out, after killing thirty people, I will be happy 100% ....100% happy, because these 30 will terrify the world," he said at one point, according to the complaint.
At another point in the conversation, Hamzeh allegedly discussed the roles he and other attackers would play.
"One of us will stay at the door at the entrance and lock the door down, he will be at the main door down, two will get to the lift up, they will enter the room, and spray everyone in the room. The one who is standing downstairs will spray anyone he finds. We will shoot them, kill them and get out," Hamzeh said, according to the complaint. "We will walk and walk, after a while, we will be covered as if it is cold, and we'll take the covers off and dump them in a corner and keep on walking, as if nothing happened, as if everything is normal."

Proud of all three Candidates
After watching the townhall last night, I am proud of Martin O'Malley, Bernie Sanders, and Hillary Clinton. I would be proud and relieved if ANY of them become President and will 100% support whichever one wins the nomination.
I have my favorite, but all three of them impressed me and any of them would make this country and world a much better place than any of the republicans (all of whom are disasters for the country and humanity).

SIS has encouraged more couples to carry out terror attacks in America, Europe, and Australia after praising the San Bernardino shooters as "righteous" martyrs.
Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik massacred 14 people at a conference centre in California on 2 December after apparently being motivated by the terrorist group's propaganda.
They killed in a shoot-out with police, who found 5,000 rounds of ammunition, 12 pipe bombs and equipment to make more at the home they shared with their baby daughter.
In the latest issue of its propaganda magazine, Dabiq, ISIS praised Farook and Malik for attacking the "American-led crusaders" waging war against its "caliphate".
Calling the husband-and-wife attack "unique", the group claimed it had answered leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's calls for supporters to commit massacres in the West.
"How much more deserving of Allah's blessing are a husband and wife who march out together to fight the crusaders in defence of the (Caliph)," an article said.
"The brother's blessed wife accompanied him despite the fact that combat is not even obligatory upon her, but she did not want to lose the opportunity for shahadah (martyrdom) at a time when many "men" of the Ummah (Islamic community) have turned away from the obligation of jihad."
ISIS claimed that more militants were joining its ranks in Syria and Iraq, while others were planning to "defiantly terrorise the crusaders in their very strongholds".
"The believers who do trade with Allah will never lose, rather, they only stand to profit," the group said. "May Allah accept the sacrifices of our noble brother Syed Rizwan Farook and his blessed wife, accept them among the shuhada (martyrs), and use their deeds as a means to awaken more Muslims in America, Europe, and Australia."

IRBIL, Iraq (AP) — The oldest Christian monastery in Iraq has been reduced to a field of rubble, yet another victim of the Islamic State's relentless destruction of ancient cultural sites.
For 1,400 years the compound survived assaults by nature and man, standing as a place of worship recently for U.S. troops. In earlier centuries, generations of monks tucked candles in the niches and prayed in the cool chapel. The Greek letters chi and rho, representing the first two letters of Christ's name, were carved near the entrance.
Now satellite photos obtained exclusively by The Associated Press confirm the worst fears of church authorities and preservationists — St. Elijah's Monastery of Mosul has been completely wiped out.
In his office in exile in Irbil, Iraq, the Rev. Paul Thabit Habib, 39, stared quietly at before- and after-images of the monastery that once perched on a hillside above his hometown of Mosul. Shaken, he flipped back to his own photos for comparison.

Gun Deaths Are Now Outpacing Traffic Deaths In 21 States, And Counting
More people died from guns than from motor vehicle accidents in 21 states in 2014, according to a report released this week.
The Violence Policy Center, a research group that advocates for gun safety legislation, has found in past reports that traffic fatalities have been declining due to what the organization calls "effective regulation," such as safety prevention initiatives, improved vehicle and highway design, and efforts from the government and advocacy groups. Firearm-related deaths, meanwhile, have only climbed.
The VPC analyzed the latest available data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which tallies all gun deaths, including suicides and accidents, and all fatalities in car crashes. As the number of people who die in car crashes goes down, the organization says, the number of people who die from guns is going up needlessly.
"Firearms are the only consumer product the federal government does not regulate for health and safety," VPC Legislative Director Kristen Rand said in a press release. "Meanwhile, science-based regulations have dramatically reduced deaths from motor vehicles in recent decades. It’s well past time that we regulate firearms for health and safety just like all other consumer products."
When VPC first compared firearm and traffic deaths in 2009, gun deaths exceeded fatal motor vehicle accidents in only 10 states. That number more than doubled in just six years.

Hillary, Bernie or Other
I will support the Democratic party and the nominee no matter who it is. I have some serious questions:
1. Hillary has baggage, much of it just made up by the republican party, some that will turn some people off. She is a successful woman with loads of relevant experience. Will enough Americans vote for her to give US all the Presidency?
2. Bernie: great, passionate, likeable, great ideas. The problem is that he is a self described socialist in a country that votes by sound bite and where voters are knee jerk reactionaries against that very word. Will enough Americans be willing to vote for a self described socialist?
The outcome of the next election will shape the supreme court for the next 20 years. it is already a banana republic like court that has no sense of objectively among 5 members.
The family of a woman accused of violating ISIS' dress code says she was tortured to death

A female member of the Islamic State has reportedly tortured a 21-year-old Syrian woman in the northern city of Manbij who was accused of violating the group's strict dress code. The Syrian woman was arrested last week, and her body was later returned to her family.
According to ARA News, the victim died after being tortured by the female jihadi known as Oum Farouq. Women under the rule of the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, ISIL, or Daesh, are forced to wear a black veil of two layers to conceal their eyes, loose abayas, and gloves. Women are also not allowed to go anywhere without a male guardian.
The woman's family member told ARA News that they received her body with clear signs of brutal torture. "She was harshly tortured. We have received her dead body full of physical effects of torture," the relative said. "We cannot even protest against this horrible crime. The only judicial department in Manbij is the Sharia Court, which supports such crimes."

Nigerian Islamic court sentences cleric to death

KANO: An Islamic court in Kano, northern Nigeria, has sentenced a Muslim cleric to death for blasphemy against Islam's holiest figure, the Prophet Muhammad, prosecutors and justice officials said on Tuesday.
"The sharia court found Abdul Nyass guilty of blasphemy against the prophet, which is punishable with death in accordance with the provisions of the sharia legal system Kano state operates," prosecutor Lamido Abba Soron-Dinki told AFP. "The convict had legal representation throughout the trial which was done in secret to avoid a repeat of the mob action that disrupted a court session on the case."
