Palestinian kills teenage girl in Israeli settlement

JERUSALEM: A Palestinian fatally stabbed a 13-year-old girl inside her home in a Jewish settlement in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, before guards shot him dead, the military and hospital officials said.
A member of the response team that killed the assailant was also wounded in the incident, said an official from the Kiryat Arba settlement, near the city of Hebron.
Over the past eight months, Palestinians have killed 33 Israelis and two visiting US citizens in a wave of street attacks, mostly stabbings. Israeli forces have shot dead at least 198 Palestinians, 134 of whom Israel has said were assailants. Others were killed in clashes and protests.
An Israeli military spokesman said the girl was attacked in her bedroom. Hospital officials in Jerusalem said she died of her wounds, giving her age as 13. Israeli media reports identified the suspected attacker as a 17-year-old Palestinian from a village near Kiryat Arba.

Gunmen storm hotel in Mogadishu; 15 killed, police say

Mogadishu, Somalia (CNN) — Gunmen stormed a hotel in the Somali capital of Mogadishu on Saturday after detonating a car filled with explosives at the hotel gate -- an attack that has left at least 15 people dead and 25 others injured, police said.
Following the car explosion, someone blew themselves up inside the Naso Hablod hotel as gunmen stormed the building, Somali police Capt. Aden Dahir said. Police responded and engaged in a gunbattle with the suspects for several hours, Dahir said.
The Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack on its main broadcaster, Radio Andalus.
Most of those killed and injured were civilians who were passersby and customers of nearby shops and a gas station, police said.

Amjad Sabri, famed Sufi singer, gunned down in Pakistan

Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) — Amjad Sabri, one of Pakistan's most well-known Sufi musicians, was gunned down Wednesday in the southern city of Karachi.
Sabri, 45, was the victim of what police are calling a targeted killing. Two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on his car, firing 5 or 6 shots, according to Muqqadas Haider, a senior police official. Sabri died of his injuries en route to the hospital, Haider told CNN. The singer was known for not having any political affiliations.
Amjad Sabri belonged to the renowned Sabri family, members of the Chishti Sufi order and the most famous Qawwali group in the country. They had performed internationally and were known for their renditions of mystical Islamic poetry. Qawwali is a form of passionate, devotional Sufi music, specifically from South Asia.
A faction of the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, citing the type of music Sabri performs as "blasphemous."

Sanders accidentally visits GOP

Washington (CNN) — It's been a while since Bernie Sanders has attended the weekly Senate Democratic lunch in the Capitol.
So long, in fact, he forgot where to go Tuesday and headed -- with his large Secret Service detail in tow -- into the Republican lunch instead.
He quickly realized his mistake and turned around. When a reporter noted, "wrong room," Sanders replied, "Thank you" as he made his way to the Democratic gathering.

Orlando shooter told 911 operator he was Islamic soldier

Orlando gunman Omar Mateen spoke in Arabic to a 911 dispatcher, identified himself as an Islamic soldier and demanded to a crisis negotiator that the U.S. "stop bombing Syria and Iraq," according to transcripts released by the FBI on Monday.
The partial, printed transcripts were of three conversations Mateen had with the police during the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history, in which 49 people died and dozens were wounded.

Mother kills pregnant daughter in name of 'honour' in Pakistan

LAHORE: A mother slit open the throat of her 22-year-old pregnant daughter in Pakistan's Punjab province, the latest in a series of gruesome "honour killing" that have sparked national outrage.
Muqadas, a resident of Butranwali, Gujranwala, some 80 kilometres from Lahore, contracted love marriage with Taufeeq of her locality against the will of her family some three years ago, a police official said.
Superintendent of Police (civil lines) Nadeem Khokhar said that the family of Muqadas was not happy with her as the victim married Taufeeq after eloping with him." Amna, mother of Muqadas, recently contacted her and told her that the family had pardoned her. She invited the couple to her house. However, yesterday when the 8-month pregnant Muqadas was present at a clinic in her locality for a check-up Amna reached there and took her to her house," he said.

Hindu monk gets death threat in Bangladesh

DHAKA: Suspected Islamists claiming to be the ISIS followers have threatened to kill a Hindu priest of the Ramakrishna Mission here if he continues to preach in "Islamic Bangladesh", prompting authorities to beef up security around the area.
"The security of the (RK) Mission has been intensified as the priest filed a general diary with us," duty officer of the city's Wari police station told PTI.

Taliban use 'honey trap' boys to kill Afghan police

TARIN KOT: The Taliban are using young boys as sex slaves to mount crippling insider attacks on police in southern Afghanistan, exploiting the pervasive practice of "bacha bazi" — paedophilic boy play — to infiltrate security ranks, multiple officials and survivors of such assaults said.
Even as ISIS attacks and kills men for being gay - the terrorist group says homosexuality is unIslamic - the ancient custom of "bacha bazi" is still practiced across Afghanistan. Nowhere does it seem as entrenched as in the province of Uruzgan, where "bacha bereesh" — or boys without beards — widely become objects of lustful attraction for powerful police commanders.
The Taliban over nearly two years have used them to mount a wave of Trojan Horse attacks — at least six between January and April alone — that have killed hundreds of policemen, according to security and judicial officials in the province.
"The Taliban are sending boys — beautiful boys, handsome boys — to penetrate checkpoints and kill, drug and poison policemen," said Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai, who was Uruzgan's police chief until he was removed in a security reshuffle in April amid worsening violence.

Report: Belgian Police Receive Warning Of ISIS Cell Headed To Europe

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Belgian police have received an anti-terror alert warning that a group of Islamic State fighters recently left Syria en route for Europe planning attacks in Belgium and France, a Belgian security source said on Wednesday.
The Belgian crisis center in charge of coordinating security responses said an alert had been circulated to all police forces in the country but there were no immediate plans to raise the security level to the maximum that would indicate an imminent threat of an attack.
A source at France’s Interior Ministry said Belgian authorities had transmitted a note to their French counterparts, who were currently reviewing the information in the alert. “We know the threat is very high,” the source said. “We’re reviewing all the elements (in the alert).”
