DIY Miracle Grow and Roundup

I think I'm going to try making my own Miracle Grow. Most recipes call for epsom salt, baking soda, and ammonia mixed with water. My question is, should I put in the ammonia if I already have sufficient nitrogen in my soil? Probably too much, because I added too much horse manure last year.

I'm torn about using Roundup. I have tried the vinegar, salt, DW liquid homemade weed killer, without much success. I have read some articles that say regular household vinegar isn't strong enough--that you have to get 20%, and it's much more dangerous than Roundup. Plus it doesn't kill the roots, so the weed comes right back. And there's always the Roundup argument about how safe it is for people and environment. Even though I have a huge flower garden, I originally did the lasagna route by getting tons of cardboard boxes from the local Amish stores. But now, that's all breaking down--like its supposed to, and the weeds are popping thru. I pull them in the beds themselves, but my paths are already under siege, even mulched.

Opinions on both are appreciated.

I Found Trump in a Mushroom!

And then I made him into a trumpple omelet.

Kinda like finding Jesus in a Cheeto, only different.

Looking for the best place to shop flower seeds

Looking for a good and reliable seed dealer for flowers such as, Rose Campion, Lambs Ears, Foxglove, Columbine, etc. I planted all last year, and none came up (don't EVER buy seeds off eBay!) Even the plain old daisy seeds didn't come up.

Any interest in starting a seed exchange here?

So what did you get for Valentine's Day?

I got a new pair of waterproof farm boots. Hey--I'm thrilled, I really need them. Although it would have been more romantic if there were roses in them.

Gorsuch Ad

Anyone else been seeing the ad by "Judicial Crisis Network", with an Obama staff member promoting Gorsuch? Says she interned for him, and he was just fabulous. Has there ever been an ad for a Supreme Court nominee? You gotta hope they are running this because they feel he's shaky.

The Oroville Dam

For anyone who has been following this situation--Rachel Maddow has spent a fair amount of time on it--its just getting worse and worse. 180,000 people evacuated today.

CA Governor Jerry Brown has been forced to ask the Whitehouse for assistance. Not only for the current emergency, but to rebuild the infrastructure of the dam. So......with the governor's defiance of the new administration, do you think CA is going to receive help? Will Trump make him crawl?

Hand in the cookie jar, Michael Flynn

Anyone watching Rachel Maddow? She just spent 45 minutes getting into reports--with multiple corroborations, that Flynn was talking with the Russians before the election, and told them not to worry about Obama's sanctions, Trump would dump them. She's talking more than him getting removed from his position, she's talking being charged as a traitor.

Multiple stories.

Lindsey Graham: Silencing Elizabeth Warren Was Long Overdue

Source: Huffington Post

"Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) joined the chorus of Republicans backing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) for cutting off Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) during a speech criticizing Attorney General Jeff Sessions this week.

“The bottom line is it was long overdue with her, I mean she is clearly running for the nomination in 2020,” he told radio host Mike Gallagher on Wednesday in a clip obtained by CNN’s KFile."

"Graham broadened his assault on Warren out to what he views as a fractious Democratic Party.

It “is really being pushed by the most extreme forces in their community and they just don’t know how to handle it,” he said. “If they empower her, I think the Democratic Party is going to lose its way.”

Escape!

In these precarious and scary times, what are your favorite Escape From Reality movies? I go for SciFi. I've probably seen Alien and Aliens hundreds of times, the Terminator and Star Wars movies. Old classics like the original War Of The Worlds. Cowboys And Aliens is a newer favorite. Out of this world!

New Bunny-Earred Kids!

First, thanks for the condolences on losing my kids over the past few months.

So, we did end up adopting the little donkey family I was talking about then. Miniature jack (Roy), jenny (Windy), and baby girl (Scout). A friend and I spent a couple hours wrestling them onto the trailer. Two adults had not had halters on for 5 years. You couldn't get within 10 feet of the baby (no name). She definitely needed to be handled and tamed. We ended up putting her in the dog kennel (she's tiny, smaller than my dogs at 5 mo. old), as she needed to be weaned anyway. Now named Scout, she quickly learned that people will actually pet and brush you, want to pick up your feet for some reason, feed you, and bring you treats. A week later, she's a pocket pet! Willingly puts on halter, and leads. Went into the big pen with her parents a few days ago. Everybody's happy! Sorry, I don't know how to make these pics smaller.
