Cris Hayes...with Michelle Alexander. Set the record straight about the 1994 Crime Bill.

Alexander's entire reason for why blacks should not vote for Hillary is fraught with innuendo and misleading attacks on Bill and Hillary Clinton.

First off...let's set one thing straight. Bernie voted for this bill. Hillary Clinton did not and could not.

Second, most of the Black Caucus also voted for this bill. Reasons some use to support their vote was that the bill included an assault weapons ban, midnight basketball, violence against women and several other features that were attractive to the yeas. Two previous and much harsher versions were vetoed by Bill Clinton.

Third, the GOP that voted against it did so because of they regarded it as too soft on crime and looked at it as welfare bill for criminals..."hug a thug" was there meme.

So it is quite disingenuous for Alexander to place the blame for passage of this bill on Hillary's shoulders. And it is shameful, to me, for Chris to bring this up again (Alexander had appeared on several shows soon after her piece was published) just before a critical WI primary. No one of opposing views appeared. (If anyone thinks this more appropriately belongs in the GD-Primary feel free to copy and post it there).

All is not "pure" in politics. If Hillary surrogates are marked by their associations so should BS

surrogates.

Ted Devine Campaign advisor worked at Winston & Strawn LLP, the law firm that has represented Monsanto, he also worked for Jon Corzine who got $400 million golden parachute when he was forced out as CEO of Goldman Sachs. ….

Devine, unlike other Gore advisers, suggested taking on Bradley by questioning his credentials as a Democrat. He also used his extensive knowledge of the Democratic party rules to help ensure Gore's victory in the primary by lobbying members of the Democratic National Committee's Rules and Bylaws Committee to disallow any primaries in the five weeks between New Hampshire and Super Tuesday. His aim was to minimize Bradley's political momentum should he win the New Hampshire primary and maximize the effect a New Hampshire loss would have.” …..

As lead negotiator for the Dukakis campaign at the 1988 Rules Committee, Devine was involved in the Democratic party's 1988 reform that eliminated winner take all methods of delegate selection and established proportional representation as the exclusive system of delegate allocation in the Democratic Party.

Some of the vetting on Bernie Sanders

When it comes time to make speeches, Sanders has slammed defense corporations for political gain.
“We know that there is massive fraud going on in the defense industry. Virtually every major defense contractor has either been convicted of fraud or reached a settlement with the government,” Sanders said in Iowa City last year at a town hall. “We need a strong military, it is a dangerous world. But I think we can make judicious cuts.”

But when those defense corporations come to his own backyard, he quietly welcomes them in.
