Hillary Clinton Received a Massive Donation From Walmart Heiress, $353k

"Hillary Clinton’s campaign finance records show the wealthy Walmart heiress, Alice Walton, donated $353,400 to Clinton’s “Victory Fund.” The six-figure donation contrasts Clinton’s campaign messaging as a workers’ ally. Walmart stands out for its oppressive labor practices and corporate greed behavior. Before that Alice Walton contributed $25,000 to the Ready for Hillary political action committee.

The former first lady and secretary of state has been endorsed by multiple labor unions including Service Employees International Union (SEIU), American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), and the National Education Association (NEA).

“One of the greatest issues of the coming election for president of the United States and perhaps the most burning issue for progressives in this nation is the involvement of corporate money and how it corrupts the system,” the Daily Kos said in a January article titled "Hillary, Walmart and the Revolving Door.”"

Mayor Bill de Blasio Still Can't Get Hillary Clinton to Hang Out With Him

"Despite his earlier insistence that everything between himself and the Clinton campaign is hunky-dory, Mayor Bill de Blasio still seems to be having a heck of a time convincing the high profile presidential candidate to appear in the same room with him.

On Wednesday, of the 300-odd people who attended the “Rally for Hillary in Manhattan” at the Lower Manhattan offices of the United Federation of Teachers, Clinton herself was not among them.

“The mayor is still overcoming his early reluctance to endorse Hillary,” veteran Democratic political consultant Geroge Arzt told the New York Times, “and in the hottest Democratic presidential primary in years here, this is proving to be a little awkward.”

Interestingly, the major’s wife, Chirlane McCray, is having no trouble drawing candidate Clinton’s ear: the two held a rally together on Tuesday with the intent of drawing female voters to the Clinton cause"

Obama: Clinton Didn't "Intentionally" Put America In Jeopardy;

"President Obama is quizzed about the investigation by the FBI Justice Department into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's private server and non-government e-mail address by FOX News' Chris Wallace on this week's edition of FOX News Sunday. In the interview, Wallace confronted Obama if he can still say flatly that Clinton did not jeopardize America's secrets. Obama also guaranteed there is no political involvement in the ongoing investigation.

Obama contended she did not jeopardize America's national security, however was "careless" in terms of managing e-mails that she has owned. Obama said the scandal needs to be put in "perspective" as Clinton "served her country" and did an outstanding job.

"Here's what I know," Obama told Wallace. "Hillary Clinton was an outstanding Secretary of State. She would never intentionally put America in any kind of jeopardy."

"You were prepared to say she didn't jeopardize," Chris Wallace said.

"I continue to believe she has not jeopardized America's national security," Obama defended Clinton. "Now what I also said is that -- and she's acknowledged -- that there's a carelessness in terms of managing e-mails that she has owned. And she recognizes that. But I also think is important to keep this in perspective. This is somebody who served her country for four years as Secretary of State and did an outstanding job and no one has suggested that in some ways as a consequence of how she's handled e-mails that that detracted from her excellent ability to carry out her duties."

Sanders Campaign Cites Higher Tally of Pledged, Superdelegates

"The campaign of Democratic presidential contender Bernie Sanders added to his estimated delegate count ahead of Saturday’s Wyoming caucuses, citing discrepancies in other reported tallies.
The Vermont senator has 1,088 delegate votes compared with 1,302 for front-runner Hillary Clinton, according to an e-mailed statement. That 214-vote gap is narrower than in a recent tally by the Associated Press, which credits Sanders with 1,030 pledged delegates to Clinton’s 1,280.
The AP puts the total delegate count at 1,749 for Clinton to 1,061 for Sanders when superdelegates -- party leaders and elected officials not formally bound to any candidate -- are included. The Sanders campaign now lists 38 superdelegates in its column versus the AP’s estimate of 31. Clinton is credited by the AP with 469 superdelegates.

The Sanders team said other tallies had undercounted the candidate’s delegate haul from a recent landslide caucus victory in Washington state, county-level wins in the Nevada caucuses held in February, and revised awards from the Arizona primary on March 22."

#MemeOfTheWeek: Hillary Clinton, The New York Subway And Authenticity

"The things they do for love.

Politicians will eat almost any food, adopt any colloquialism, endure any level of awkward — just to seem "authentic."

The latest example? Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, riding the New York subway through the Bronx, saying hi to babies and taking selfies along the way.

Depending on your point of view, the event — and it was an event — could be viewed as either a shining testament to Clinton's New York bona fides, or just the latest example of how out of touch she is.

Here's how it all happened."

Bernie gets big applause in hipster Brooklyn

"His pant legs flapping in the chilly wind coming in off the East River, Bernie Sanders delivered his second pitch of the day to Brooklyn voters in the New York neighborhood of Greenpoint late Friday afternoon.

It was not a hard sell. The independent Vermont senator's stump speech—in which he vowed to tackle income inequality, college debt and systemic racism and get better health care for more Americans—played well with the mostly young, mostly white crowd. Sanders's support comes largely from the young and the white, as Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton often notes, so the crowd that showed up to see him speak in north Brooklyn should come as no surprise"

US Elections: Vatican trip could boost Bernie Sanders' fight against Hillary Clinton

"US Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will speak at an event in the Vatican on April 15, likely broadening his appeal to Catholic voters ahead of crucial nominating contests in a series of Northeastern states.

Like Pope Francis, Sanders has made economic inequality and the plight of the working class a central tenet of his message. Sanders' visit to Vatican City, where he will give an economic address at a conference, will come just days before Democrats in New York vote in their state primary. The trip may help the US senator amplify the anti-corporate line of attack he has employed against Democratic rival Hillary Clinton as he tries to keep his insurgent campaign for the November 8 presidential election alive.

Sanders, who would be the first Jewish US president if elected, described himself on MSNBC as a "big, big fan of the pope," who leads the world's 1.2 billion Catholics. Speaking to reporters in New York later, Sanders said he hoped to meet with Francis. "The pope's schedule is determined by the Vatican but I would certainly be enthusiastic about that," said Sanders, 74, the Brooklyn-born son of Polish-Jewish immigrants."
