The descriptions for each incident are excerpted from the University of Maryland's Global Terrorism Database.

Dec. 15, 2001: Unidentified assailants gunned down a Nepalese security guard of the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Jan. 22, 2002: Two assailants attacked the American Center in Calcutta, India. Five policemen died, and 15 others were injured in the attack.

Nov. 9, 2002: The security supervisor for the U.S. embassy in Nepal was shot dead at his house in Kathmandu. Maoist rebels claimed responsibility for the incident.

May 12, 2003: In a series of attacks, suicide bombers blew themselves up in a truck loaded with explosives in a complex that housed staff working for U.S. defense firm Vinnell in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. (The contractors worked out of the U.S. embassy.) At least eight Americans were killed in the incident. Al-Qaida was suspected responsible for the incident. This was one of three attacks, involving at least nine suicide bombers and suspected to have involved 19 perpetrators overall.

July 30, 2004: Two people, including a suicide bomber, were killed and one person was injured as a suicide bomber set off an explosion at the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Israeli Embassy and the Uzbekistan Prosecutor General’s Office in Tashkent were also attacked in related incidents.

Oct. 24, 2004: Edward Seitz, the assistant regional security officer at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, died in a mortar or possible rocket attack at Camp Victory near the Baghdad airport. An American soldier was also injured. He was believed to be the first U.S. diplomat killed following the March 2003 U.S.-led invasion.

Nov 25, 2004: Jim Mollen, the U.S. Embassy’s senior consultant to the Iraqi Ministers of Education and Higher Education, was killed just outside the Green Zone in Baghdad.

Dec. 7, 2004: Gunmen belonging to al-Qaida in the Arabian Penninsula stormed the U.S. Consulate in Jedda, Saudi Arabia, triggering a bloody four-hour siege that left nine dead. One American was slightly injured in the assault.

Jan. 29, 2005: Unknown attackers fired either a rocket or a mortar round at the U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad. The strike killed two U.S. citizens and left four others injured.

Sept. 7, 2005: Four American contractors employed with a private security firm supporting the regional U.S. embassy office in Basra, Iraq, were killed when a roadside bomb exploded near their convoy. Three of the contractors died instantly, and the fourth died in a military hospital after the bombing.

March 2, 2006: An unidentified driver detonated a car bomb while driving past the U.S. Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, killing a himself, a U.S. Consulate worker and at least three others.

Sept. 12, 2006: Islamic militants attacked the U.S. embassy in Damascus, Syria, with hand grenades, rifles, and a vehicle rigged with explosives. One guard and the four attackers died.

July 8, 2007: Two Iraqi U.S. Embassy workers were killed when the wife went to deliver a ransom for her husband who had been kidnapped in Baghdad. One of the couple's bodyguards was killed in the failed ransoming.

Jan. 14, 2008: A bomb hidden on a north Beirut highway hit a U.S. Embassy vehicle, killing at least three Lebanese bystanders. The car's Lebanese driver and an American at a nearby school were wounded.

March 18, 2008: Al-Qaida's wing in Yemen, Jund Al-Yemen Brigades, fired between three and five mortar rounds toward the U.S. embassy, but instead they hit a girls’ school nearby, killing a guard and a schoolgirl and injuring 19 others in Sanaa, Yemen.

July 9, 2008: Four unknown gunmen killed three Turkish police at the U.S. consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.

Sept. 17, 2008: Suspected al-Qaida militants disguised as security forces detonated vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices, fired rocket propelled grenades, rockets and firearms on the U.S. Embassy in Sanaa, Yemen. Nov. 27, 2008: A Taliban suicide car bomber targeted the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, killing four civilians in addition to the suicide bomber and wounding 18 others. The embassy was hosting a Thanksgiving Day event as Americans and other foreigners were arriving at the venue at the time of the attack.

Prior to Benghazi, were there 13 attacks on embassies and 60 deaths under President George W. Bush?
Our ruling

Garamendi said that "during the George W. Bush period, there were 13 attacks on various embassies and consulates around the world. Sixty people died." There are actually different ways to count the number of attacks, especially when considering attacks on ambassadors and embassy personnel who were traveling to or from embassy property. Overall, we found Garamendi slightly understated the number of deadly attacks and total fatalities, even using a strict definition. Garamendi’s claim is accurate but needs clarification or additional information, so we rate it Mostly True.

Prez Obama for VP! Term limits is 10 years not 8!?

It's 10 years because a VP could become President due to death or other event and then still get to run and be elected for 8 years!

I am a little bit joking but just throwing that out there and actually personally :

I am on board for whoever she picks, I trust her judgement

Tulsi Gabbard dodges debating opponent :after arguing for more debates b/w HRC & BS (HRC GP)

Arguing for more debates between Sanders and Hillary last October, Gabbard told MSNBC, “We’ve gotta have more opportunities for people to present their vision for our country, their plans, and to be held accountable for the positions that they’re taking.” After months of dissent over the Democratic debate schedule, Gabbard stepped down from her position as a Democratic National Committee vice chairwoman to endorse Sanders.

But now that Gabbard is being challenged by progressive activist Shay Chan Hodges, she is refusing to even respond to a request for debates.

Last week Chan Hodges reached out privately to Gabbard’s campaign coordinator, Alana Penaroza, requesting four debates throughout the state of Hawaii, asking for a response by Monday.

Gabbard has not responded to the Shay Hodges campaign’s request. The congresswoman did, however, send out a fundraising appeal Monday morning. Requests for comment to her campaign coordinator, her campaign office, and her congressional office remained unanswered.

Play By Play: The Spectacular Implosion of the Benghazi Committee (HRC GP)

In our years as professional political consultants, it's hard to recall an instance of a political party self-destructing so dramatically in the midst of an attack on an opponent.

Democrats and the media have always known that the House Select Committee on Benghazi was a partisan exercise aimed at barring Hillary Clinton from the White House. What no one anticipated is that in the weeks leading up to Hillary's appearance before the committee, the GOP would spontaneously torpedo their own efforts, revealing the sham investigation in all its craven cynicism.

We've chronicled the process in recent weeks and have compiled the details below.

SEPTEMBER 29: As seen in this Clinton campaign ad, Republican Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy – at the time the leading candidate to succeed John Boehner as House speaker – opens the floodgates by admitting the truth: the Benghazi Committee is essentially playing politics with dead Americans:

Republicans Confess: We Played Politics on the Graves of Benghazi Heroes (HRC GP)

Long article with timeline that shows that the whole thing was for political reasons.

Once again, Republicans try to use the Benghazi tragedy to undermine Hillary’s campaign. Once again, they play politics on the graves of American heroes. And once again, they fail. As they deserve to.

This righteous rant from Rep. Elijah Cummings at Hillary’s infamous Benghazi hearing says everything about the GOP’s disgusting efforts to use the deaths of Americans for political gain:

Last October, HillaryMen published the following chronology that exposed how Republicans admitted using Benghazi as a political weapon:

SEPTEMBER 29: As seen in this Clinton campaign video, Republican Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy – at the time the leading candidate to succeed John Boehner as House speaker – opens the floodgates by admitting the truth: the Benghazi Committee is essentially about playing politics with dead Americans:

Trump fan busted for posing as black woman on Twitter to win over minority voters (GD16 GP)

In case you haven’t noticed, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump has a serious problem with minority voters — in fact, some polls have found that more than 90% of black voters have an unfavorable opinion of him.

Because of this, it’s not surprising that at least one Trump fan has come up with a wacky gambit to win over minority voters by impersonating a young black woman on Twitter using the account handle, “BlackGirl4Trump.”

How do we know that they’re impersonating a black woman? Because the woman whose photo is being used in BlackGirl4Trump’s profile is not happy about it.

Here was her initial reaction after being alerted by a friend that her photo was swiped for a pro-Trump Twitter account:

https://twitter.com/Ohh_so_Exotic/status/747062720684494848

This was followed by demands that the Trump fan stop using her photo:

As of this writing, BlackGirl4Trump is still using the stolen photo, despite the fact that many users say they’ve reported the account to Twitter.

Ten thoughts on a Clinton-Warren 2016 ticket (HRC GP)

Personally, it was thrilling to see both of them today, yet I still trust HRC to choose her running mate!

Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren stood together on a Cincinnati stage this morning, arms draped around each other, turning to every camera angle to make sure the photo op was fully taken advantage of. They then took turns lavishing political and personal praise on each other in a display so unified that it caught off guard even those of us who expected Elizabeth to eventually get strongly behind Hillary all along. And of course it’s raised the question, now more than ever, of whether we’re looking at a Clinton-Warren 2016 ticket. Here are ten thoughts on such a ticket:

1. Clinton and Warren are both savvy enough to know that by putting on this emphatic show of personal unity, they’re amplifying the talk of Warren being the running mate. It’s possible that neither of them has any intention of actually being on a ticket together, and that they’re merely allowing the idea to be played up in order to quickly unify the party.

2. On the other hand, they’re also both no doubt aware that by playing it up this blatantly, they’re creating the expectation of a Clinton-Warren ticket, which could lead to a letdown in the eyes of some if it doesn’t end up happening. That leads me to think that they’re both at least considering the possibility, or they wouldn’t be putting on this kind of show right now.

3. The Clinton campaign has access to the kind of detailed internal polling data which tells her precisely how any given running mate would help or hurt her with each demographic or region. So those idly wondering if the nation is ready for a two-woman ticket, or if a New England progressive like Warren would play well nationally, can rest assured that Hillary is already staring at those answers on the paper in front of her even as the rest of us ask the questions.

4. Although Massachusetts has a republican governor, the rules stipulate that if Warren submits a letter of resignation in advance, she can force a special election such that she would immediately be replaced in the senate by the people’s choice and not by an appointee. So the popular notion that she would temporarily be replaced by a republican is a false one. The only question is whether the people of Massachusetts would vote for a democratic senate candidate to replace Warren. That’s not certain, but given the state’s liberal leanings and Warren’s near-certain endorsement of her potential senate successor, it’s probable.
