Covid Case Fatality Rate and how Donald Trump and his spokesmodel are Fucking Liars.

The NY Times agrees that these are lies.

Trump: "99% of U.S. coronavirus infections are “totally harmless."
McEneny: 99% will "come out the other side"

Truth: Among 100 cases, we can expect between 4 and 5 deaths.

Add to these the numbers who might be hospitalized, intubated, made sick for weeks and/or have lifelong debilitation conditions.
These additional percentages cannot be determined this early.

New Mississippi state flag, no stars & bars but must include "In God We Trust"

I was very encouraged about the new flag but for this one nagging detail.

Fuck.

The new flag will be forbidden from including the Confederate battle emblem and must include the phrase “In God we trust.”

JACKSON, Miss. — Just a few weeks ago, as Mississippi lawmakers mobilized to take down the only state flag in the nation with the Confederate battle emblem embedded into it, Gov. Tate Reeves said the choice was not theirs to make.

“It should be the people who make that decision,” Mr. Reeves told reporters then, “not some backroom deal by a bunch of politicians in Jackson.”

But on Tuesday, Mr. Reeves signed into law a measure that removes the flag that has flown over the state for 126 years and been at the heart of a conflict Mississippi has grappled with for generations: how to view a legacy that traces to the Civil War.

RICHMOND STATUESThe capital of Virginia will take down other Confederate statues in the coming days, after removing Stonewall Jackson’s statue on Wednesday.
The legislation mandates the “prompt, dignified and respectful” removal of the flag, which features the blue bars and white stars of the Confederate battle flag, within 15 days.

Trump's talking points and "the most popular white supremacist slogan in the world."

If you listened to the Mt. Rushmore speech you heard all the bells and whistles about the "greatness" of this nation.
His talking points provoke comparisons to "the 14 Words":

"We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children"

Trump, the leader of White Supremacy. Just look at the people who adore him.

Trump Tweet: Street Painting on 5th Ave 'Black Lives Matter' is a "Symbol of Hate"

Screw you, Trump. See you in November.

NYC is cutting Police $’s by ONE BILLION DOLLARS, and yet the @NYCMayor is going to paint a big, expensive, yellow Black Lives Matter sign on Fifth Avenue, denigrating this luxury Avenue. This will further antagonize New York’s Finest, who LOVE New York & vividly remember the....horrible BLM chant, “Pigs In A Blanket, Fry ‘Em Like Bacon”.
Maybe our GREAT Police, who have been neutralized and scorned by a mayor who hates & disrespects them, won’t let this symbol of hate be affixed to New York’s greatest street. Spend this money fighting crime instead!

Elijah McClain played violin, a peaceful event in Aurora was met now with armed police. So tragic.

In case you missed it, a peaceful black man was killed by police in Aurora, CO, on August 24, 2019.
Only now is his story being told.

"Here are his last words:

“I can’t breathe.
I have my ID right here. My name is Elijah McClain.
That’s my house. I was just going home.
I’m an introvert. I’m just different. That’s all.
I’m so sorry.
I have no gun. I don’t do that stuff. I don’t do any fighting."

"Did you know that Elijah McClain played violin for kittens in an animal shelter so they wouldn’t be lonely while awaiting the kindness of an adoptive family?"

Santa Cruz ends beach closure because 'people are not willing to be governed anymore'

I live south of the city of Santa Cruz overlooking the beach and have seen the park rangers and sheriffs try to warn people off the beaches and they do their best but are outnumbered.

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KGO) -- Beaches in Santa Cruz County will reopen starting at midnight Thursday night, even as the county's coronavirus continue to rise.

"We had hoped to continue the beach closure until after Fourth of July weekend, but it's become impossible for law enforcement to continue to enforce that closure," said Santa Cruz County health officer Dr. Gail Newel. "People are not willing to be governed anymore in that regard."

Beaches have been closed to sunbathers and picnickers for weeks in Santa Cruz, with a "keep it moving" policy to discourage congregating. That will no longer be the case starting Friday morning.

Starting July 6, the county's shelter-in-place order will expire, bringing Santa Cruz County fully in line with the state's reopening timeline.

WILD CONGRESS MOMENT: Rep. Louie Gohmert refuses to stop banging on desk during Barr hearing!

WILD CONGRESS MOMENT: Rep. Louie Gohmert refuses to stop banging on desk as Donald Ayer goes over time limit.

Reps. Nadler & Johnson fail to get Gohmert to stop. Johnson asks if sergeant-at-arms could be brought in.

Rep. Doug Collins jumps in, insults Nadler.
