I for one am sick to DEATH of hearing we can't take back the Congress in 2018...

Oh, the open Senate seats are too weighted against us...; oh, the number of House seat are just too large... -- FUCK all of that. (i'd use the term "pearl-clutcher" here but as that label was lobbed at some here, including myself, who dared to express anxiety pre Nov. 05, I won't).

The one thing #notmypresident has made great again is the resolve of those millions of us who believe in what this country means to the future of the world. We need to reclaim the legislative branch in 2018: No ifs, ands, or buts. Both Houses. Failure is NOT an option!! And then we can Benghazi committee that orange menace and his borscht-slurping minions for all the world to see, and out the treasonous members of the GOP as the Benedict Arnolds that they are.

Think about what the "Tea Party" did in 2010, and then compare the demographics. They are white, old, and slowly but surely slipping away. We are diverse, young, and growing day by day. We have a chance to claim the future for progressive ideals. We could turn this anomaly into the greatest thing that ever happened to this country for its galvanizing effect on us -- the opposition! But if we don't make it happen in 2018......................................................?

Exit poll: Dutch anti-Muslim leader fails to capture top spot in elections

Source: Washington Post

THE HAGUE — The Dutch political establishment appeared Wednesday to fend off a challenge from anti-Muslim firebrand Geert Wilders, according to initial exit polls, potentially blunting the momentum of anti-establishment politicians across Europe.

The result, if confirmed by the actual election results, meant that Wilders would remain a powerful voice on immigration issues in the Netherlands. But it would leave in place Prime Minister Mark Rutte and do little to alter the fundamental dynamic in a country unhappy with the status quo but deeply divided among many political parties.

Wilders faded after topping opinion polls for most of the past 18 months, as Dutch voters appeared not to fully embrace an election message that described some Moroccans as “scum” and called for banning the Koran and shuttering mosques.

My fear is that they're playing the Long Con: Setting us up to prevent Dem wins in 2018/2020

Has anyone else considered that what we are witnessing in our country may be a classic, multi-level long con game being played by Putin-Bannon-Flynn-Manafort, maybe even McConnell (but not Donnie-poo, he's obviously just a puppet, a typical front man who can't be given too many details of the scam for his own good and for the good of the scam), the kind of con in which we, the mark, think we caught the grifters in their grift, we think we have exposed the hidden ace up the sleeve, but in fact they wanted us to see the ace, because they want us to agree that the game has been rigged. Say we manage to win a majority in one or both houses in 2018, a possibility that seems more likely all the time, or take back the WH in 2020, but we've all been set up because, look, the game is rigged, the vote is invalid: the Russians. The "real" vote count shows that the GOP keep their majority/shitgibbon stays put in Mar-a-Lago North. The dismantling of the Republic goes on...this is what frightens me because at that point what options are left but all-out insurrection?

A Simple Poem for a Simpleton

These tiny hands are mine.
I use them all the time.
To grab the things I couldn't,
And lots of things I shouldn't.

Appreciation Thread for Washington Post, NYT, and even CNN lately

Speaking truth against the power. In my opinion, these three "old school" media outlets have been doing a tremendous job for our Republic, exposing TREASON.

Rec if you agree please

Chaffetz asks White House about sensitive info at Mar-a-Lago, says door is open to Flynn invest ...

Source: Salt Lake Tribune

Washington • House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz on Tuesday demanded the White House answer a litany of questions about President Donald Trump's handling of classified materials after news reports of him using the middle of a country club restaurant to discuss a North Korean missile test.

Chaffetz also said that he may launch an investigation into Trump's now-former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, who resigned Monday night and admitted misleading White House officials about his conversations with the Russian ambassador to the United States before Trump took office.

-snip-

While Chaffetz has been criticized by Democrats and some constituents for not looking more closely at the Trump administration, Tuesday saw a new push by the Utah Republican to review actions by the White House. Chaffetz said in an interview that he is taking his role seriously as Congress' top government watchdog even if critics don't think it's enough.

"I expect them to continue to pepper me with those questions. That's legitimate," Chaffetz said, noting that he loves "Democrats' newfound interest" in probing the White House after eight years of President Barack Obama.

I will believe it when I see it, but if both chambers open investigations, this could get ugly for #notmypresident pretty quick.

BERNIE SANDERS VERSUS TED CRUZ!!!

From WaPo:

"Next week, Bernie Sanders and Ted Cruz will square off in a debate on CNN over the future of the Affordable Care Act. There will be a lot of chatter about how Sanders was critical of the ACA during last year’s Dem primary.

But Sanders is a very effective advocate for the law, despite his belief that it didn’t go far enough. And this may have the salutary effect of increasing engagement on the part of the left — and Sanders supporters — in the fight to save Obamacare."

From The Hill:

"Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) will go to battle next week in a debate over the future of ObamaCare.

Sanders and Cruz, who both ran for their party's nomination in the 2016 presidential race, will square off in a debate airing on CNN next Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 9 p.m.

The debate will be moderated by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. The debate comes as Republicans in Congress craft a plan to repeal and replace former President Barack Obama’s signature healthcare law.

A promo for the debate aired during CNN's town hall with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and news quickly spread on social media."
