Seahawks acquire DE Jadeveon Clowney from Texans

Jadeveon Clowney has landed in Seattle.

The Seahawks acquired the pass rusher from the Houston Texans in exchange for a third-round pick, linebacker Jacob Martin and pass rusher Barkevious Mingo, a source told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. Any trade agreement can't be consummated until after Clowney signs his tender. The ability to sit out gave the pass rusher a modicum of leverage in forcing his way toward a preferred destination.

This week reports surfaced that the Texans were in talks with the Miami Dolphins about a potential trade, and Clowney met with team brass. The pass rusher, however, reportedly resisted moving to South Beach and preferred the Pacific Northwest.

Seattle is in need of pass rush help after jettisoning Frank Clark this offseason. First-round pick L.J. Collier is rehabbing an offseason ankle injury and free-agent signee Ziggy Ansah remains a question mark after dealing with several injuries the past few seasons. Clowney would fill a massive hole on a playoff-caliber squad.

Amazon fires scorch Bolsonaro's reputation abroad, but not in Brazil

Interesting how he's perceived at home...

BRASILIA (Reuters) - President Jair Bolsonaro has drawn sharp criticism on the international stage from European leaders and environmental groups for his handling of wildfires raging in the Amazon, but at home few Brazilians are angered by his reluctant response.

Many of his fellow citizens share his aversion to what they see as foreign meddling in how to strike a balance between protecting and developing the Amazon rainforest. The vast region is regarded at home as a key national asset but is seen globally as a crucial bulwark against climate change.

However, opinions in Brazil may change if trade sanctions or boycotts start to weigh on an already weak economy, politicians and analysts say.

A surge this year in the number of fires in the Amazon has sparked international outrage and protests in front of Brazilian embassies.
Environmentalists claim most of the fires were illegally set by land speculators and ranchers seeking to expand pastures in the Amazon who feel emboldened by Bolsonaro’s criticism of excessive environmental protections.

Is Tony Romo worth $10 million a year as an NFL analyst?

According to Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, Tony Romo is looking for a contract worth $10 million per year. He makes roughly $4 million under his current deal with CBS, which is the first one he signed after retiring from football to pursue a career in broadcasting. If CBS ends up giving Romo $10 million per year, he would become the highest-paid sports analyst of all time. John Madden currently tops the list, as he reportedly was making $8 million per year when he was still working in the booth.

For reference, Troy Aikman currently makes around $7.5 million per year from FOX. Jon Gruden’s salary with ESPN was somewhere in the $6 million range before he decided to return as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders.

Be honest, are you a little bit racist?

Joe Walsh, who has shown himself to be more than a little racist, says "we're all a little bit racist":

"We’ve all said racist things. I’ll bet if you and I went through everybody’s Twitter feed, we’re going to find things that are objectionable and offensive. I think we all have. I know when I look back at some of my Tweets over the years, because I was so outspoken, yeah, I’ve tweeted some racist things. On purpose? No.”

So, if you were to be introspective and completely honest, how racist are you on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being free of any racism and 10 being a full-on KKK member.

I think I'd rate myself a 3 with the bit of racism I may possess being due to ignorance and blind spots, not some sort of willful hatred. (I'm a white male, BTW.)

Trump just said being president will cost him $3 billion to $5 billion

Lost opportunity cost, so he claims! What B.S.!

Probably saved him from declaring a few more bankruptcies.
