It claims Israel committed war crimes in its recent fighting with Hamas in the Gaza Strip and that the “Israeli government operates a settler-colonial project committed to the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian population.”
Roger Waters, the former frontman of Pink Floyd and a longtime leading activist in the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel, is among the signers, but it is unclear if he spearheaded the letter. Waters has convinced a number of musicians to sign similar letters in the past, but this appears to be the largest such group of mainstream artists calling for a boycott.
Other big-name musicians who signed include the band Rage Against the Machine, rap group Run the Jewels, Serj Tankian of System of a Down, and the DJ and drummer Questlove. Some Jewish artists signed as well, including Peter Silberman of The Antlers, an indie band.

The man, 56-year-old Yigal Yehoshua, died May 17 after being hit by rocks during riots in Lod, a mixed city of Israel’s Jews and Arabs.
The violence followed protests and clashes in Jerusalem that also led to an 11-day war between Israel and Hamas.
In the violence in Lod and other mixed cities inside Israel, groups of Arabs and Jews fought each other in the streets. Rioters also burned cars and businesses.
But after a series of violent days, there was a rare moment of hope. Randa Aweis, a 58-year-old mother of six, got one of Yehoshua’s kidneys after a 10-year wait. Yehoshua was registered as an organ donor and his kidney was identified as a medical fit for Aweis.

U.S. authorities have arrested three more alleged associates of two right-wing groups in the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol, including one who allegedly shouted, “Let’s take the f---ing Capitol!” an hour before the assault while marching with a large group of Proud Boys around the building.
Charging papers identified Daniel Lyons Scott, 28, of Bradenton, Fla., as the Proud Boys member nicknamed “Milkshake,” who after allegedly yelling about taking the Capitol was admonished, “Let’s not f---ing yell that, okay?” by a Proud Boys leader on a video live-streamed by the group that day. In the same moments, court documents allege, accused leader Ethan Nordean was recorded saying, “It was Milkshake, man, you know .?.?. idiot!”
Nordean and three other Proud Boys seen near him that day have pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiring to obstruct police and the joint session of Congress to confirm the 2020 election results.
In an April 29 charging affidavit unsealed Thursday, the FBI said Scott, wearing a blue “GOD, Guns & Trump” cap, yellow-tinted goggles and olive-green jacket was “among the first” members of a mob to initiate contact with police at a lower West Terrace stairwell. Four minutes later, according to charging papers, rioters charged up and broke through a window on the next level about 2:13 p.m., eventually raiding the Senate chamber and forcing police to defend the House chamber with guns drawn.

Pa. woman charged in Capitol riot recorded saying she wanted to 'hang' Nancy Pelosi
Pauline Bauer, of Kane, organized a bus trip to the “Stop the Steal” rally that day in Washington, D.C., according to the FBI. She then illegally entered the Capitol, along with William Albert Blauser Jr., of Ludlow, officials said.
Both defendants had an initial appearance hearing with U.S. Magistrate Judge Richard Lanzillo on Wednesday afternoon.
Bauer and Blauser were released on an unsecured bond. While Blauser was represented by an attorney, Bauer chose to represent herself, despite Lanzillo’s warnings to her about the possible consequences of doing so. Wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, with the words “Old School Patriot” surrounding the image of a flag with the “Don’t Tread on Me” snake in the corner, Bauer repeatedly said, “I am going to go pro se. I do not need an attorney.”
According to a statement of facts in the case, Capitol surveillance video from inside the building showed Bauer and Blauser entering via the east Rotunda door about 2:43 p.m.
“At the time of Bauer’s entry, there were at least three police officers in the area of the door attempting to stop the crowd from entering the building,” the statement of facts said. “As he entered through the doorway, William Blauser walked backwards, pushing his way through the crowd and police to enter the building.” Later, according to police body-worn cameras, video captured one person saying, “This is where we find Nancy Pelosi,” to which Bauer responded, “Bring that [expletive] out here now. Bring her out. Bring her out here. We’re coming in if you don’t bring her out.”
Later she was recorded saying “They’re criminals. They need to hang. Bring her out. Bring Nancy Pelosi out here now. We want to hang that [expletive.] What are you trying to protect a [expletive] Nazi. Is that what you’re protecting?” Following the riot, according to the statement of facts, the FBI was contacted by six different witnesses about Bauer’s and Blauser’s conduct.

Another defendant from Western New York was identified when his photo matched a mugshot from an earlier arrest.
And their faces appeared in videos posted to Facebook or YouTube or on surveillance cameras and police bodycams that are being used as evidence against them, according to court documents. On Tuesday and Wednesday, federal authorities arrested five people in Western New York for their alleged participation in the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection in Washington D.C.
Authorities investigating the Jan. 6th insurrection at the Capitol say two extremist groups that traveled to Washington along with thousands of other Trump supporters weren't whipped into an impulsive frenzy by President Donald Trump that day.
The people arrested Wednesday in the Buffalo area were William Michael Sywak, 45, of Hamburg, and his son William Jason Sywak, 27, of Arcade; Traci Sunstrum, 44, of Amherst; and John Juran, 51, of Williamsville. Daniel Warmus of Alden, who is accused of bragging at a dentist's office about breaching the Capitol building and smoking marijuana while inside, was arrested Tuesday.
All five are facing federal misdemeanor charges.

Another Central Florida man has been arrested on charges connected to the violence at the Capitol building on Jan. 6 when hundreds of then President Donald Trump supporters stormed the building.
John Nassif, of Winter Springs, was arrested Monday on federal charges in connection to the attempted insurrection.
Federal prosecutors allege witnesses called the FBI to report photos posted by Nassif on Facebook inside the Capitol building after the breach. FBI investigators reviewed photos and video posted by Nassif inside the Capitol building, according the the arrest warrant.
