Trump Is Turning The Secret Service Into a Multi-million Dollar Piggy Bank

American taxpayers are not only footing the bill for Trump's travel, they are paying him and his company for many of the costs related to it.

From day one of Donald Trump's candidacy for president it was plain to many of us that his improbable run was all about drawing attention to the Trump brand. Dallas Mavericks owner and Trump troll Mark Cuban made it plain last summer that he believed Trump's goal was to lose the election while at the same time boosting his net worth. But Trump won, and he still took no time in turning the American presidency into a money pipeline feeding directly into the Trump Organization.

The cost of Trump's repeated visits to his own properties, Mar-a-Lago in particular, has gotten a good deal of attention. As it should, because taxpayers foot the bill for the expenses related to his travel. The same with the cost of Secret Service protection for his wife Melania, who insists on staying at Trump Tower in New York City instead of at the White House.

But largely absent from the discussion of the cost of Trump's travel is any direct mention of the incidental expenses incurred by the Secret Service agents who accompany him. And the money from at least some of those expenses indirectly goes right into Trump's pocket.

The Republican Party Is Catastrophically Broken

The humiliating failure to repeal Obamacare reveals the GOP is not a national governing party–and Trump is a failure as president.

When the history of the fledgling, fumbling Trump presidency is written, the past week will go down as either the end of the beginning, or the beginning of the end. Trump’s disastrous week began with FBI director James Comey confirming that his campaign is under investigation for possible “coordination” with Russian officials to sabotage Hillary Clinton’s presidential candidacy. It ended with the ominous slam of a door Friday night: House Speaker Paul Ryan pulling the monstrous American Health Care Act because he didn’t have the votes to pass it, admitting that the GOP’s seven-year crusade to repeal the Affordable Care Act is over.

His and Hers jets to Mar A Lago

Melania Trump flew separately to join President Trump for a long Easter weekend at Mar-a-Lago, getting the chance for some quality family time – while also contributing to her husband's growing taxpayer-paid travel tab.

The first lady arrived in West Palm Beach Thursday on a government aircraft – the military version of a Boeing 757, about 6:30pm, just minutes before her husband landed on Air Force One.

Vice President Mike Pence took the same plane Melania used to a conference in Munich earlier this year.

The first lady lives at Trump Tower with her and the president's son, Barron, whose private school in New York is off this week for spring break.

Navy SEAL exposed as porn star who appeared in 29 films

CORONADO, Calif. -- The Navy is investigating a decorated SEAL who moonlights as a porn actor.

The Naval Special Warfare Command wants to know whether Chief Special Warfare Officer Joseph Schmidt III properly obtained permission from his commanders for outside work and whether they condoned his acting career, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Friday.

“There are very clear regulations which govern outside employment as well as prohibitions on behavior that is discrediting to the service,” said Capt. Jason Salata, a SEALs spokesman.

Schmidt, 42, has spent 23 years in the military and holds numerous medals, including a citation of valor for combat overseas. He has appeared in recruiting campaigns, even serving as the face of the SEAL program on its website, the Union-Tribune said.

MOP and MOAB drops on North Korea?

MOAB - Massive Ordnance Air Blast
MOP, Massive Ordnance Penetrator

“The MOAB and the MOP would be extremely effective against known North Korean nuclear and missile sites,” Gary Samore, the White House Coordinator for Arms Control and Weapons of Mass Destruction in the Obama administration, tells Newsweek. “The problem is that we don't know where all such sites are.”

Matthew Bunn, an eminent weapons scientist who worked on nuclear issues in the Bill Clinton administration, agrees with Samore. “Those above-ground facilities are quite familiar. The big problem is we don't know where the heck their bombs are.”

Bunn, now a professor at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, adds that North Korea also probably has a secret additional enrichment facility that the Pentagon hasn’t located, “so MOPs don't help if you don't know where to put them.”

But the first challenge in using the weapons is just getting them close enough to North Korea without them being shot out of the sky. “They need to be airlifted by cargo planes, which are easy targets for [North Korean] air defenses,” says Michael Krepon, a weapons expert and co-founder of the Stimson Center, a non-partisan policy research center in Washington, D.C.

Gorsuch & Supreme Court Justices to Consider Gun Case That Could Expand 2nd Amendment

The U.S. Supreme Court, including the newly confirmed conservative Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch, will soon conference to discuss a gun-rights case from California that has the potential to expand the Second Amendment.

In Peruta v. California, the justices would decide whether the Second Amendment entitles law-abiding citizens to carry handguns outside of the home for self-defense, including concealed carry when open carry is prohibited by state law. Edward Peruta and other gun owners who were denied concealed-carry permits by the San Diego County sheriff appealed the case to the Supreme Court in January, The San Diego Tribune reported earlier this year. California has some of the strongest gun laws of all 50 states. Regarding concealed carry, every state and Washington, D.C., allows it in some form.

Peruta first filed a lawsuit in 2009 to challenge the county’s policy of requiring “good cause” to obtain a concealed carry permit, saying the policy violates the Second Amendment. The strongest concealed carry laws in the country require applicants to demonstrate good cause or a justifiable need as to why she or he needs a permit. In California, for example, good cause exists to issue a concealed carry weapons permit when there is a clear and present danger to the applicant or the applicant’s spouse, family or employees, according to the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence.

MARRIOTT CEO: Trump's travel ban is hurting hotels

Look out below!

Donald Trump’s travel ban is hurting the hotel industry, according to Marriott International CEO Arne Sorenson.

The ban, which predominantly affects Muslims, is “not good, period,” Sorenson said at a company gathering in Dubai. He claimed that bookings from the Middle East and North Africa were down up to 30 percent in February.

Travelers from those regions tend to spend disproportionately higher on hotel bills, the New York Post reports, so their absence hurts hospitality firms’ bottom line.

“In a banner year, business from these guests at (The Lotte New York Palace hotel) contribute up to 10 percent of annual room revenues — or about $12 million,” David Chase, former GM of the Palace, told the Post. “They travel in groups of 20 to 80 and they will take entire floors at the hotel for months at a time.”
