I really like playing around..........

Early morning, I watched while this Osprey preened it's feathers for 15 minutes on the lamp on the right, while listening to the the babies cry for breakfast in the nest on the left, assuming it would return to the nest very soon. The wait paid off. This is 17 photos shot at "Continues High" which the manual states is "up to" 6.5 frames per/sec. The distance between poles might be a little compressed, and I think Osprey actually dipped a little lower during the flight than depicted here, but when I combined them with the dip, it just didn't look good. This photo comes in at just shy of 14K pixels wide.

Here I have downsized it to 2000 pixels but here is the link to the whole enchilada: https://jamesdevore.smugmug.com/60-YEAR-JOURNEY-IN-PHOTOGRAPHY/A-LITTLE-BIT-OF-EVERYTHING/PANORAMA/i-zTbxhMJ

Have to share!

This is, if not the funniest, then one of the, funniest photographs I have ever seen. It was taken by my wife and co-pilot yesterday.

So far away it was only a black speck, she took the shot. As is often the case, the result was a complete surprise. If you have ever noticed how a woodpecker flies, they seem to tuck their wings, described as "a few wing flaps and then a soaring dive". What she caught was the soaring dive part. Top half is about as big as I dare to enlarge it, taken at 300mm.

Something new to share

I have added a new link for a “FEATURED” slideshow.

As often as possible we visit a local park less than two miles from home. There are a number of dead pines that are a favorite perch for Doves and today’s “Featured”, the Vulture.

I have been surprised at how family and friends hate this, my latest project, not looking at the art of the photo but recoiling at the subject. I find them beautiful in their own way, and hope you will enjoy these few photos. The next “Featured” will be another bird that we see just as often, in the same setting, the Dove.

DeSantis slammed a special Disney carveout his staff helped write

Gov. Ron DeSantis continued escalating his battle against The Walt Disney Co. this week, calling for a new era in Florida where the company no longer gets to wield its mighty influence and “dictate policy” to state leaders.

He singled out a special carveout that legislators approved for Disney in a 2021 bill that aimed to crack down on what DeSantis said was too many conservatives having their accounts banned by “Big Tech” social media companies.

The bill was a DeSantis priority, but has since been blocked in court. That’s in part because the Republican bill sponsors added a last-minute amendment exempting companies that own theme parks, a move the House sponsor acknowledged was especially so that reviews left on Disney+ wouldn’t fall under the law.

“At the eleventh hour when the Legislature was doing this, Disney got them to put in a carveout for theme parks,” DeSantis said Thursday during a news conference in West Palm Beach in which he called for ending the company’s “special privileges.”

Question about contests in general

Off the top of my head, i don't remember seeing any people photos being entered.

Are there any restrictions on photos with people in them? TIA

LOL, not sure this is needed

"carefully curated" means I don't get to choose the smell I might really want
