impeachment trial that pulls back the lens and looks at all of the events surrounding the 1-6 attack - not just the day itself.
It doesn't matter how long it takes or if Repubs vote to impeach or not. This is our chance to lay the facts on the table and stand up for democracy ... we may not have many other chances should the Seditious Right continue to gain power in this country.

because it could be the last. In America we have a pro-democratic party (Dems) and an autocratic party (Repubs) and the fight is really between those of us who believe in democracy and those who do not.

But it's the same basic phenomenon that exists amongst a large section of middle aged (gen-x) white women that many have talked about for years now. They seem to view power/empowerment with imitating RW white men.
These Q-Karens are the biggest wannabes.
Their entire act seems to be about emulating RW militia white men - who would take all of their rights away in a second if they could.
The only reason these women have any rights is due to the very liberalism they crusade against.

Reddit (and similar boards) have always been a haven for the alt-right and alt-left, who would love nothing more than to create chaos for the Biden admin. Why didn't they pull this stuff during Trump's admin? That's your answer right there.
K shaped recovery. The stock market and the economy are not the same thing.
During the pandemic Wall St has reaped record profits while Main St stands on food lines.
Alot of deluded people also bought into the idea of Trump as a 'great businessman' from the image he projected on The Apprentice. They don't care that he doesn't pay taxes - they secretly wish to also be rich and not pay taxes as well.
It was a planned coup disguised as a protest,
not a protest that went wrong. The more evidence that comes out proves this. They seemed to have details of the layout and came prepared with helmets, vests, weapons, bear spray, zip ties etc and even constructed a gallows. Clearly they prepared to take and execute hostages, with the intent of derailing the peaceful transfer of power.
We should be very concerned about any MAGA apologists in the military - as it is that mindset that likely led to the police going easy on them, as well as outright complicity.
+1. White nationalism is at the core of Trumpism
and of election denialism. It irks them that in many of these swing states black/brown voters in big cities were the decisive margin that put Biden over the top. To the MAGAts such votes should not count at all, hence their sense (without evidence) that the election was fraudulent.
They need to be prepared to use deadly force
against anyone who would breach a predetermined 'line in the sand'. The only thing that stopped the MAGAts from getting into the House floor was that officer in the suit who shot the woman who almost made it through the doorway to the Speaker's Chamber. The other MAGAts there trying to break down the door suddenly had a change of heart and retreated once they realized deadly force would be used - which it should've way earlier before they got inside the building.
Cops are basically a right wing militia
and nothing in society will change until they are broken down and rebuilt.
Making commissions and new laws etc doesn't work because ultimately the cops are the ones who have to enforce the laws, and do so selectively based upon their racist RW worldview.
