Girard442's JournalBeen trying to wrap my head around the resurgence of COVID in Missouri.
I grew up in rural SW MO. in the 50's and 60's. I had no idea that the seeds of this current batshittery were present then. How does a community move forward when a solid fraction of the people there have shown a death wish for themselves, their family members, friends, and everybody around them?
Coming soon? Rumors unvaxxed being denied medical care?
We really need to start seeing the Pandemic as Civil War II.
I always thought that when Trump dropped the ball on limiting the spread in the coastal cities and later stiffed the Blue States on PPE and testing supplies it was a concerted effort to kill Libs.
Now, DeSantis and Abbot and other Red-state Govs are killing their own. It looks like pure suicidality, but at the end they'll have a battle tested group of immune survivors with fanaticism baked into their bones -- standing on a mound of the dead, but survivors, still.
Worst of all, they're biding their time until a vaccine-resistant variant emerges so that the Blue-Staters will start dying en masse again.
Someone I know is going away to college in a COVID-resurgent state.
Everybody else is all excited about it. I'm depressed as hell.
It's time for the sane states to put on their grown-up pants and create & mandate vaccine passports.
Really, can the rabid right and Fox News/NewsMax/OANN be any more berserk than they already are?
I was a live musical performance couple of weeks ago where they asked for proof of vaccination at the door. It was nice there.
If you wonder what the consequences of a Trumpist coup in 2024 would be...
....just look at what's happening in Florida right now.
Sir, the population is ravaged by pestilence!
No, it's not.
So, if I go on TV and give bad medical advice that causes people to die, is that legally actionable?
Seems like it should be.
