The Democratic nominee will either be US Representative Welch, Lt Governor Gray, or Attorney General Donovan. Donovan is the perfect candidate. Donovan has been Attorney General since 2016. He has won his Attorney General elections by 37 to 42 percent margin. Donovan is not to old as Welch meaning Donovan could serve in the US Senate for more than 3 terms. Donovan is also a candidate for Governor. Donovan has better chance succeeding Leahy in the US Senate than unseating Phil Scott in the Governors Race. Molly Gray can succeed Bernie Sanders when Sanders decides to retire in 2024.
Welch will remain in the US House as long as he wants.
