To the people on this blog responding to my post"Is Donna Edwards political career over?"
I need to let you know that Donna Edwards was diagnosed with MS on 7/2017 right after she ran for the US Senate in 2016 against Chris Van Hollen. Since Donna Edwards has been out of political career and recovering from MS. She ran for Prince Georges County Executive in 2018 and lost badly in the Democratic primary to Angela Alsobrooks. Edwards also ran for the US House Seat she previously represented from 2008-2017 in 2022 and lost badly in the Democratic primary to Glenn Ivey. The question I must ask is what elected office will Edwards run for in the future and win in the Democratic primary/General Election.
US Senate in 2024? Donna Edwards will be a perfect US Senate candidate assuming she wins a highly competitive primary against Alsobrooks,Raskin,Sarbanes, and Trone.
Prince Georges County Executive in 2026? The current Prince Georges County Executive Angela Alsobrooks is most likely going to be serving in the US Senate. Edwards will be facing a primary challenge against Aisha Braverboy who is currently the Prince Georges County State Attorney.
Donna Edwards could run for Steny Hoyers US House seat which includes Prince Georges County. The question is could Edwards win the Democratic nomination against Steny Hoyer in a district based in Southern MD(Charles,Calvert, and St Mary) and 1/2 PG County and 1/2 AA County.
Who is likely to be the Democratic nominee for the 2024 MD US Senate Election if the candidates are-
John Sarbanes, Jamie Raskin, David Trone, Angela Alsobrooks, John Olszewski and Will Jawando?
John Sarbanes is the frontrunner because of
high name recognition.(son of the late popular longtime former US Senator Paul Sarbanes.)
congressional experience(served in the US House since 2007.)
represents the 5th most Democratic US House District in MD.
Jamie Raskin is the most progressive Democratic US House Member of MD and is an excellent fundraiser.
If MD Democrats want to nominate an outsider- Angela Alsobrooks. County Executive of Prince Georges. 2nd most populated county in MD and 1st most Democratic county in MD. Alsobrooks help the 4 recently elected Democratic statewide elected officials in MD(Wes Moore,Aruna Miller,Brooke Lierman, and Anthony Brown win in the Democratic primary and general election for the positions they were elected to.)
