A ramble over a 76 Gibson explorer our son is playing it as I have coffee I'm smiling

It came yesterday via ups I did not know my wife knew. She asked me to hang close as she knew what was up
we were having package delivered. And she got notice on her phone I phone and I went to porch and in box. Opening it in case was my brothers explorer and a letter from my sister in law. She remarried in 96 my brother passed in 89 no condolences needed it’s cool he did it to himself booze and Harleys do not mix. She in letter wrote I understand that my 15 year old nephew is quite the guitarist as you and Scott were at that age and I’m sure he will play this guitar as Scott would want him to enjoy it.

So we plugged it in and it’s fine I changed the thirty year old strings and did set up. It has been sitting last time I touched this guitar was 89 it’s not in bad shape slight patina on humbuckers no big deal. She started living again in 96 after she remarried to a fine guy last time I saw her was 2017 when I was up in Erie in hotel going on rest on union line haul we had dinner I called her to let her know. I was coming out of Chicago heights to Erie terminal to bed. So she picked me up at hotel off peach street and we went for Erie Pennsylvania Chinese food, the point of the Chinese food is I never had a General tso’s that I didn’t like I love it that and veggie lo mein.

I was filling our son in on history of this explorer and how Scott got it. I said he traded a 73 510 Datsun for the explorer. It was 84 your aunt and uncle had to get married reason was because chad your cousin was seven months away from showing up. So I take leave out Bragg to attend wedding and as a wedding present I sign over my Datsun to Scott and $100 a shotgun wedding present that’s life. I could not have a car at Bragg I wasn’t married and only a PFC in rank. So the newly married couple is set two cars a Chevy Vega and the rusted out Datsun living in duplex working in steel mill dad got him a job.

I come home like 85 on leave I caught PCs to west Germany and Scott picks me up at Pittsburgh airport in a Chevy station wagon. I’m like dude family car cool laughing drinking beer as we head up Route 66. And he’s telling me how his band is doing well they’re playing Saturday nights bars college clubs in state college and Indiana Pennsylvania. We’re close we’re gonna make it big bro. Scott was always a dreamer. And I remember drinking beers and smoking terrible skunk weed in Chevy station wagon on that cold snowy day as he drove then a good buzz was needed it was youth , Scott said to me you will have a place in the band after you discharged, so I tell our son we get to their house and he is showing me this Gibson explorer awesome guitar.

He said stick I traded craig straight up over the Datsun he needed car for his wife and I loved his explorer. So a ramble as I drink coffee and do laundry linen day here. The boys had friends spend the night ten year old and friend are x box one at moment. Fifteen year old is jamming with friend and sixteen year old is playing some game on his laptop this guitar makes me feel good and remember good times. And in 2020 in these times I’ll take good memories be safe all.

I'm smiling read letter from my uncle who moved to Vietnam

After he retired from steel mill he was living in small town western Pennsylvania. Where we all grew up after his wife passed he started traveling and he decided to move to Vietnam about year half ago. And he’s doing ok financially he has his pension and in letter he says they have kool menthol cigarettes and miller beer.

And he added all humor it’s much nicer than the last time 67-68 13 months as riflemen in Marine corps. He rents a nice place rides his bicycle to market and the beach. He has friends another former American vet and numerous Vietnamese friends and what makes me smile is a bar he drinks at. Is owned by a former NVA officer and this is funny the bar is frequented by former Arvin and NVA soldiers.

He wants my brothers and I and the boys to come and visit after a vaccine is available. He wants to take us fishing in this river he says the fish our huge. The Vietnamese are peaceful and loving he said in town he lives in their so respectful to him and as he’s I think he 71. He even attends mass at times catholic service. Reading his letter I’m very happy for him he deserves happiness.

Thunderstorms freak our 12 year old golden retriever and the golden retriever puppy

Earlier we had crack of thunder mr big paws 12 year old golden retriever came running for the door. And the pup Duncan who is 11 weeks old , Duncan gave out a welp that pups do and came running into my arms. Protect me man I’m afraid and I put him inside with older golden retriever with my wife.

And then I turn around and boog the chocolate lab is licking the metal fence.Boog I love he’s like hey man as I go out get him inside. I pet boog kiss him on his head come on mister let’s go inside. He’s so sweet totally clueless.

I brought home two blueberry pies after the boys got to them

We now have 1.5 pies possibly 1.25 if you look at it from the view of a 10-15-16 year old.

Saw couple no mask at store

We’re standing in line as his wife had go get a price check on stove top she had no mask he wasn’t wearing mask either it is law here in Pennsylvania . Catching attitude from my wife over the pup Duncan

He eats three times a day puppy food. And I will add a bit of peanut butter with his dry food. My wife told me the other day she gave him dry food and at 10 weeks he was like hey you need to add peanut butter lady.

My wife says you are spoiling him I said dear. I replied I did the same for mr big paws our 12 year old golden retriever and boog he’s ten the chocolate lab. I then added dear I understand you gave birth to 4 of our 5 children three grown daughters and a son biological who is 15. Then we adopted our foster son after you informed me we were going to enter the foster program. Jokingly I said you raise your kids I’ll raise mine.

I smile yesterday and today I took young pup Duncan golden retriever puppy to trail to walk. Now I know his little legs try. He made it on walk about .25 mile on 2 mile trail he tires out. Hey mister I’m a small guy we have water to hydrate Duncan and man then I end up carrying him the other 1.5 miles on my neck. I get ear licks hey I’m comfortable you carrying me mister.

I slacked off walking boog he’s 10 and I’m worried as his hips giving him trouble. Although I took him swimming yesterday he had blast. And boog swam to me smiling hey man this is fun. I love mr boog so much ok man hold me let’s float in quarry. Hey man boog says tell my boys to share the float raft help me up and we put boog on the raft.
