We took him fishing in the boat yesterday and he found out. That on the boat there is no sofas or recliners for a Dunc to lounge on and loaf. This poor dog had to lay and relax on extra life preservers, the plan was to leave him home with my mother in law. And as we left he started the howling wooo wooo the guys left me Nana you don’t leave a Dunc behind.
How I could hear him was my mother in law called me so we turned around and picked him up. Waking up around 02:00 the blankets that I sleep on top off in bed , where mister pup was sleeping were drenched in Duncan pup drool. And now he’s out cold on the back porch couch as I sit and have coffee. This is usually our time to reflect and have coffee’s and chew a bone.
We tell Dunc he is a failed retriever yet he’s a great Golden taker. As in socks slippers remotes come on you see I have it you know you want it come and chase me. Although the other day he actually retrieved our grand child sip cup, she is or was going through pacifier withdrawal and I told her no binks/Pacifier.
She pulled a wild thing pitch with her sip cup. And the golden shit head went picked up sip cup brought it back to her as in hey let’s do that again.
I just rubbed his ears and his head and the outdoor cushion he’s sleeping on is drenched in Dunc drool.He is a good boy especially when he is sleeping and the grandchildren love him, on Friday our one grandson wanted to blow off pre K and go to pup day camp with Dunc.
The boy was upset asking me why after we dropped pup off why can’t I go to pup camp with Dunc and play with the dogs I told him you don’t have your kennel cough vaccine. Ask your Mother and father get you the kennel cough vaccine and then you can go to pup camp. Then silence from the backseat I could tell he was thinking oh ok problem solved.

What I do know that Liz’s reality after her 2020 infection and spending six weeks in hospital and rehab combined in 2020 because of Covid and pneumonia. And for the next two and half years she suffered her lungs were wrecked shortness of breath constantly fighting off chest infections.
So I’m sitting in this bar in Butzbach West Germany called EKU winter 86-87, I caught P.C.S. out of Bragg and was assigned to first brigade of the 3rd armor I ended up in 2/36 infantry up at Ayer’s Kaserne place called Kirchgoens. So the irony is in me explaining at this time first brigade we were on a Grafenwoher deployment.
So the irony is I get sent back to Ayer’s Kaserne to rear detachment on medical because I had bronchitis / pneumonia I couldn’t shake it this time. So after a couple days of sleeping and eating antibiotics for couple days the rear detachment N.C.O. he was like I don’t need you just rest really cool SGT. So I’m finally feeling ok and what do I do and I head out to a bar I liked.
So I’m at this pub EKU drinking veizen beer or Licher beer probably can’t remember what I was drinking and I hear this can I borrow a cigarette (I know booze and nicotine recovering from pneumonia wasn’t the sharpest butter knife I was a kid 19 your young you can deal with it) so I pull this cigarette out and this guy reached for it. And in reaching for it his sleeve goes up on his arm and on his forearm I see a concentration camp tattoo.
So we chatted he was civilian worker at Schloss Kaserne for U.S. Army he held citizenship of west Germany his father was Russian his mother polish or vice versa yet I explained my grandfather was Ukrainian my grandmother polish I was buying him beer and it got to point I had to ask how can you live amongst these people or sit here and talk with these Germans of your Generation.
His response was I have learned to forgive and his response just floored me in that he lost it all his wife his baby his parents siblings I learned in talking with him. Because he and family were Ashkenazi Jews on a day the German army arrived and deported them to the camps. And in this time I made good friendship with a former German soldier who fought in Russia so I knew all Germans were not Nazis. This former soldier actually and this survivor of concentration camp were then perhaps my age now 57 perhaps early sixties in age.
And my friend who was soldier he explained to me that to them then it was a crusade to destroy communism he was young. And in getting to know him and his wife God they to lost and suffered truly decent humans they would invite me into their home and I got to know them. And my friends wife her brother was marched off into captivity by the soviets never to come home , and my friend who fought on the east front lost two brothers in Russia they both were buried in Russia.
I need to step back in my hate and anger towards the anti vaccine it was a hoax crowd because these people are hateful racist orange messiah cultists. In thinking what I lost in comparison to those who I knew above that I described to you and how they suffered. I’m not the only person who lost their soulmate of thirty six and half years. I do not post for pity I truly think I use this platform of D.U. to dump my thoughts otherwise I keep them to myself. It’s gonna be in four days six months since Liz passed and it’s just time for me to start living again.
I cannot be constantly consumed with hate and anger towards the no vax crowd that’s not living at all, will I socialize with them no family coworkers no I told several at work. We do not make small talk on shift anymore we only discuss work especially when I am yard jockey and I’m not running a turn to say Queens or Pittsburgh as example then back to home terminal some nights if I can I just do straight yard jockey.

They been busting freight on union dock a break bulk summer job before college this fall. The usual bid is a 03:00 start today on six punch they took 06:00 they both are tired I was up and packed their lunches for them two Dagwoods sandwiches four puddings cheese pepperoni sliced and crackers four microwave soups and I cut up cantaloupe for them. And I made them breakfast so we could sit and eat together we been lacking on that with my shift and theirs.
Any time after 8 is time half anytime after 40 all time half and I’m not sure. I told them cuz it’s Sunday you two maybe double time so check with union stew not sure the contract they work under is different than the one we have here at buster brown as a road man. Yep Hoffa junior the trumpig of teamster presidents sure fucked up the master freight contract with that we all use to work under one contract Hoffa junior belongs in the Fed prison like trumpig.
Anyway I told the fellas this morning if it’s just time half you’re gonna net around $2072 if your contract is giving double time then you guys be around $2400 for this week. I tell them bank your cash I’m writing tuition checks and they will.
Not bad coin for two seniors who cyber school and will be graduating in couple weeks then off to university in the fall.
Slide guitar class yesterday
A ramble cannot sleep having coffee and I’m thinking on how to make the most of our time. Ten to noon yesterday at high school the music teacher put it out by email last week R.S.V.P. and we had three kids show up. I love it these young kids are so into learning and they themselves are so into guitar.
Come to class take home a glass slide after about a hour they put on the headphones and plugged into the Harley Benton amps and I would sit with one kid at time to work on slide. So the guitar teacher is going to see if the kids want to continue Saturdays for awhile, my schedule is open weekends off.
Yet I’m thinking I’m going to have to go back to the Delta blues before it hit Memphis and become Electric which gave us example the Allman brothers.
