Hugh_Lebowski's Journalthe cure - the kiss (live from berlin - 2002 - trilogy)
Mr. L's Exhibit 2 from the "Yeah huh The Cure are a Rock and Roll Band, worthy of 2019 Hall of Fame Induction" Collection.
Recommended only for those capable of enduring a 7 minute onslaught of sheer f***ing distorted guitar maelstrom, with lyrics that would've make Jello himself go 'Really? You're Gonna Say That?' ...
Btw, you know that sweet song 'Just Like Heaven', from the apparently happy titled 'Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me'? THIS song was the actual opener ... of that record ...
BTW, saw them on the original 'Kiss' tour, 1987, ... Oakland, CA ... my first trip home from College down the Central Coast ... AMAZING SHOW.
Anyways ... ROCK AND ROLL
And I dare you to play this LOUD (you may need to repaint your walls after ... and your neighbors may give you unapproving looks tomorrow ... you've been warned) ...
p.s. man I miss Porl, and even more so ... BORIS ... on this one ...
the cure - homesick (maybe the most epic slab of gloom ever)
And I love me some good gloom ...
This is for anyone who's thought The Cure were some poppy 80's synth band ... there's a reason they're nominated for the R&R Hall of Fame ... because THIS ... is The Cure, not the pop songs from the radio
Btw, they BETTER GET IN THIS TIME!!!
I love when Simon takes the bass down a couple octaves at 2:30 ... this song is so, so freaking great ...
BTW THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD, SO TURN IT UP!!!
hey hey
just one more and i'll walk away
all the everything you win
turns to nothing today
and i forget how to move
when my mouth is this dry
and my eyes are bursting hearts
in a blood-stained sky
oh it was sweet it was wild and oh how we ...
i trembled, stuck in honey
honey, cling to me
so just one more
just one more go
inspire in me
the desire in me
to never go home
oh just one more and i'll walk away
all the everything you win
turns to nothing today
so just one more
just one more go
inspire in me
the desire in me
to never go home
Sons Of Bill - Santa Ana Winds
To All My California DU'ers ... Stay Safe!
Not meant in poor taste, but whenever My State is on fire, I have to rock this song a few times ... and pray (in my way) for everyone's safety ...
Should be played ... really loud ...
Is Rod Rosenstein not SUPPOSED to be the AG right now? WTF?!?
How is Shitler getting away with this BULLSHIT of appointing some random RW Staffer asshat and total lackey ... to the Highest LEO Office in the United States?
Based on what, the technicality that he demanded Sessions to 'resign'?
That is a FIRING.
Please tell me Dems are all over the morning news shows, screaming bloody murder.
I hope Mueller seriously considers telling Whitaker to GET BENT if he shows up asking to see his work until he's been confirmed by the Senate.
Unless he really just has nothing on Trump or his family, he's got to be PISSED about these shenanigans that risks exposing his work ... TO the criminals themselves, through political f***ery.
My Vote for Speaker of the House is ... HILLARY CLINTON ...
For reals.
That'd be freaking awesome.
Pretty sure I read somewhere that there's nothing explicitly says that the Speaker ... must actually BE ... a House Member.
IMO, good start for House Investigations ... a Simple, Slam Dunk ...
Trump ABSOLUTELY IS personally profiting on his position as POTUS, at Taxpayer Expense, vis-a-vis his constant Golf Junkets to his own Golf Clubs.
I really don't think that's 'popular' ... with damn near anyone.
Lets start out with a small, easy one like this.
In the process, Dems can throw around terms like 'Swindling', and 'Constitutionally Forbidden', and 'The Transfer of Wealth from Taxpayers to Trumps Pocket', and 'all goods and services must be provided on an At-Cost Basis', things of that nature.
They investigate that, and in so doing PROVE Trump is lining his pockets with OUR money ... which should be easy to prove ... it's opens up a much larger discussion of the ways he's personally profiting from his Position. Of which I'm certain there are MANY.
Trying to see a Silver Lining on the Senate ass-whupping ...
This is all I got:
At least there'll be no more endless weeks of the media blathering about the opinions of Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski ... they're now mostly irrelevant.
So there's that.
On edit: FINE, it's not an ass-whupping ... it's just a 'regular loss, given our odds, and the map' ... but going from 2 seats behind to possibly 4 or 5 ... is ... IMHO ... a pretty dramatic set-back. Okay?
Can we not be distracted by this bullshit about birthright citizenship ... it's a DESPERATE
attempt to say something so outrageous that the horrific tragedy in Pittsburgh will get swept from the news-cycle.
TRUMP ALWAYS PULLS THIS SHIT when the news is looking bad for him, says he's gonna do something outrageous (which is OBVIOUSLY never going to happen, typically, as here) in an attempt to control the news cycle.
How about we f***ing IGNORE his tricks, for once?
He can't do this, neither can Graham.
Period.
Colin Meloy (The Decemberists) - A June Hymn, to Welcome In The Day ...
Beautiful lyrics ... great performance ... awesome song ...
June Hymn
Here's a hymn to welcome in the day
Heralding a summer's early sway
And all the bulbs all coming in
To begin
The thrushes bleating battle with the wrens
Disrupts my reverie again
Pegging clothing on the line
Training jasmine how to vine
Up the arbor to your door
And more
You're standing on the landing with the war
You shouldered all the night before
And once upon it
A yellow bonnet
Garland on the lawn
And you were waking
And day was breaking
A panoply of song
And summer comes to Springville Hill
A barony of ivy in the trees
Expanding out its empire by degrees
And all the branches burst a'bloom
In the boom
Heaven sent this cardinal maroon
To decorate our living room
And years from now
When this old life
Isn't ambling anymore
Will I bring myself to write?
I give my best to Springville Hill
Justin Townes Earle (with a certain, beloved guest guitarist) on Letterman - Harlem River Blues
This is a'great ... very rootsy ...
This particular guitarist plays on a bunch of songs on the actual record, which is overall EXCELLENT, as are the 2 that preceded it, his debut The Good Life, and sophomore effort Midnight at the Movies.
The lady on the Stand Up Bass friggin' kills it, too ... love her, no idea who she is, but she's awesome.
