The prime minister unveiled a new benefit to streamline aid for Canadians who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19.

Dubbed the Canada Emergency Response Benefit, the aid will replace the two announced last week as part of a $82-billion funding package.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau unveiled the new benefit Wednesday during his now-daily press conference on the steps of Rideau Cottage in Ottawa.

The aid will provide $2,000 per month, last for four months and applications should be available on April 6, Trudeau said. The money will be paid out every four weeks and be available from March 15 until October 3.

Senator Tom Cotton Repeats Fringe Theory of Coronavirus Origins

We must work much harder to get rid of them:

Why there's no Democrat running against Sen. Tom Cotton in Arkansas
Cotton is up for reelection in 2020 — and the Democratic Party of Arkansas isn't running anyone against him.

That's not to say it didn't try. The party had a Senate candidate, Joshua Mahony, who also ran unsuccessfully in the state's 3rd Congressional District in 2018. He had spent months touting a run, and had gained the support of state party elites and progressive activists despite losing his House race by more than 30 percentage points.

Housing is healthcare. An eviction moratorium is the first step: Rent/Mortgage Suspension

Español Abajo

Everyday the housing crisis related to COVID-19 crisis gets worse and worse. It is impacting tenants, homeless New Yorkers, public housing residents, and homeowners across the State.

Housing is healthcare. An eviction moratorium is the first step, but right now it’s critical that every New Yorker is safely housed, especially those who are currently without homes or most in danger of losing their homes due to loss of income. We are calling on Governor Cuomo and state legislative leaders to implement an immediate suspension of rent, mortgage, and utility payments, a full moratorium on evictions/foreclosures-- for renters and homeowners, and investment in safe, affordable housing for every New Yorker.

Working people across New York State are facing lay-offs and struggling to pay rent and buy basic necessities. This problem will not disappear once the threat of COVID-19 has passed, and the eviction moratorium is lifted. Forgiving rent and mortgage debt accumulated during this period will help keep New Yorkers in their homes and stabilize our economy and our state.

Now is the time to create permanent housing for homeless New Yorkers. It’s immoral and wrong for the state to keep any homeless New Yorkers in tightly-packed shelters where coronavirus can spread rapidly. All homeless New Yorkers should be moved to safe, quality housing as fast as possible.

Murika 2020 : Charles M. Blow @CharlesMBlow WHAT?!?!?!?!

Trump's cynical call to his base to go to church by Easter.

Tell me how this doesn't undermine the facts from experts in the medical community, and the WHO?

The Pentagon, they know how crazy this is but will they speak out?

In early March look at what he was trying to control, what has changed for the better? How much more crazy messaging are we suppose to overlook?

Defense Secretary Warns Commanders Not to Surprise Trump on Coronavirus
Mark T. Esper directed overseas officers not to run afoul of the White House’s messaging and asked them to clear decisions on protecting their troops. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/02/us/politics/esper-trump-military-coronavirus.html

Trump is a threat to humanity. George W Bush and Obama should speak jointly on this danger. It is not a time to employ the calculations of politics, nor give the benefit of the doubt that as president he should not be criticized by his predecessors.

Its not an exaggeration, he is fueling the virus and that is a threat to our national security. Please make your concerns and demands known.

Party Zero: How a Soire in Connecticut Became a 'Super Spreader'

About 50 people gathered this month for a party in the upscale suburb of Westport, then scattered across the region and the world, taking the coronavirus with them.

March 23, 2020

About 50 guests gathered on March 5 at a home in the stately suburb of Westport, Conn., to toast the hostess on her 40th birthday and greet old friends, including one visiting from South Africa. They shared reminiscences, a lavish buffet and, unknown to anyone, the coronavirus.

Then they scattered.

The Westport soirée — Party Zero in southwestern Connecticut and beyond — is a story of how, in the Gilded Age of money, social connectedness and air travel, a pandemic has spread at lightning speed. The partygoers — more than half of whom are now infected — left that evening for Johannesburg, New York City and other parts of Connecticut and the United States, all seeding infections on the way.

Westport, a town of 28,000 on the Long Island Sound, did not have a single known case of the coronavirus on the day of the party. It had 85 on Monday, up more than 40-fold in 11 days.
