so, the shit finally hit the fan. yesterday afternoon, Judge Engoron dropped the hammer and found Little Donny Fuckface, his two shithole sons — Individual-1 Junior and The Dumb One — and skeevy accountant Allen Weisselberg liable to the tune of 364 million bucks.
additionally, Trump is forbidden from heading any New York-based corporation for three years, and is forbidden from receiving loans from New York banks.
I don’t know what happened here. Donny had a foolproof strategy of acting like a childish asshole during the trial — sighing, waving his arms, keeping up a running commentary, and occasionally bolting from the courtroom — and somehow all this failed to charm the judge. maybe it was all the times Trump called Engoron a socialist maniac that failed to win the day. or maybe it’s simply that Donny is a life-long conman and fraudster, and he finally got caught. settle in as we explore the shit-blizzard of financial ruin that’s about to bury Trump.

yesterday, Alexander Smirnov — holy fuck, now there’s a Bond Villain name if ever there was one — was merrily going about his business, traipsing through Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, when he was surrounded by a bunch of FBI agents who were all nah bro, you’re not getting on that plane — in fact, guess who these handcuffs are for.
why does this suck for Corn Pone Jimmy? because Smirnov was Comer’s star impeachment witness, and he got nailed for inventing all the “evidence” he gave to Comer.

The caretakers of the SS United States, once known as the Queen of the Seas, have sent out an SOS to the highest office in the land as the vessel faces the threat of eviction.
In addition to President Joe Biden, the SS United States Conservancy has sent a plea for help to the U.S. Secretary of the Navy and members of Congress, describing how the ship is “under the imminent threat of eviction and destruction,” appealing to their patriotism.
“Indeed, it would be a global embarrassment if the nation’s Flagship were to face destruction during this time of grave geopolitical uncertainty abroad,” read the three-page letter. It’s the latest effort to find the ship a champion to save it from the scrapyard.
For decades, redevelopers and what would eventually become the conservancy have struggled to repurpose the 1,000-foot vessel that still holds the transatlantic speed record it broke in 1952. Proposals such as making the ship into a cruise line or time-share condos fell by the wayside over the years as financing failed to materialize. Still, the conservancy has always argued the ship is a slice of American history and should be repurposed, saving the ship from destruction on more than one occasion through fundraising efforts.

The investors in the low-budget dark comedy, which include Kelce, are the first to take advantage of 2022’s Inflation Reduction Act to finance a film. (“My Dead Friend Zoe” cost less than $10 million.)
The Inflation Reduction Act, which was passed in August 2022, marks “the single largest investment in climate and energy in American history, enabling America to tackle the climate crisis, advancing environmental justice, securing America’s position as a world leader in domestic clean energy manufacturing and putting the United States on a pathway to achieving the Biden-Harris Administration’s climate goals, including a net-zero economy by 2050,” according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s web site. “My Dead Friend Zoe” used money generated by green energy entrepreneur Mike Field’s sale of surplus tax credits. (Field is also a producer on the film.)
“Hollywood is risky, right? On a scale of one to 10, Hollywood, it is a 9.5. Especially in terms of independent film,” says “My Dead Friend Zoe” producer Ray Maiello, who runs California-based Radiant Media Studios with Field. “These federal tax credits take the risk down to like a five.”

in 1994, the wingnut howler-monkey infrastructure was shrieking for an investgation into a land deal in which Bill and Hillary Clinton lost money. then-Attorney General Janet Reno, wanting to appear all fair-minded and non-partisan and shit, appointed a Republican Special Counsel, Robert Fiske, to head what became known as the Whitewater Investigation.
Fiske concluded that the Clintons had done nothing criminal, but the panel of three ultra-conservative judges who oversaw the Counsel were all fuck no, you useless dick, “innocent” not the answer we’re looking for and — because this is how the Special Counsel thing worked back then, thanks to a law signed by Bill Clinton, who also didn’t want to appear partisan — they fired Fiske and replaced him with pantysniffing prig Kenneth Starr.
Starr, of course, quite famously wasted tens of millions of taxpayer dollars and turned the failed-land-deal investigation into a prosecution and impeachment over a blow job. (fun true fact: did you know that the Starr Report — which was pretty much low-grade pornographic filth from cover to cover — was partially authored by none other than Brett Kavanaugh, the future Supreme Court Justice who was so blackout drunk all the way through prep school and college that he literally has no idea how many women he assaulted? weird how the same shitweasels keep popping up every time there’s fuckery afoot.)

Marco Rubio went on Jake Tapper’s show yesterday, and he was asked to comment on Little Donny Mobfuck’s boast that he would encourage Russia to attack NATO countries — that Russia could “do whatever the hell they want.”
Rubio forcefully denounced Trump, pointing out that Trump’s threat, if made good on, would embolden a despot, destabilize the world, break treaties and upend a 75-year commitment to defend our allies. he also called Trump a reckless moron who smelled like a butt, and refused to endorse him for president.
ha ha! just kidding! none of that shit happened. in fact, what Rubio did tell Tapper is that Trump was just blowing off steam. lovely deflection there, Senator. no, Trump doesn’t talk like a traditional politician, he talks like a mob boss wanna-be with a fresh load in his diaper.

The 205,000 figure, for example, is “false” according to the Department of Justice, and was based on incomplete data the state says can’t be used for this type of analysis. Honey herself has revised the discrepancy downward. While Honey’s current estimate is almost half of what it once was, it’s still inaccurate and the original number is also still routinely cited as fact.
“There were 202,377 MORE ‘votes’ cast, than actual REAL VOTERS THAT VOTED,” reads a November 2023 post on X from a popular rightwing account. It was reposted more than 13,000 times.

Time after time, her research has fed into viral allegations about election integrity, fueling conservative pressure campaigns, forcing fact-checkers and public officials to attempt to piece together a more accurate picture and undermining confidence in long-trusted election practices. Today is Super Bowl Sunday, but I'll use a baseball analogy here. I think Tiedrich has knocked it out of the park! He goes on to give several examples of how Chump's disturbing speeches and Xweets get ignored in the US press, but the same press keeps harping on "Joe Biden's age" like it's the 2024 version "Hillary's emails."
Oh my god I'm so sick of this, and I can't believe it's only February. This is a classic Tiedrich rant and I doubt very much that anyone in the media pays attention.

Wow! I thought my increase was bad for Pittsburgh, but mine was nothing like that. Talk about greed-flation! There seems to be no stopping the insurance companies from confiscating our money.

Drivers in the Philadelphia metro area are spending a larger share of their income on car insurance than many in the nation, according to an annual report released this month from Bankrate, a consumer financial services company. On average, Philly drivers are spending $4,753 on their annual car premium, 5.65% of their household income.
According to Bankrate, the average full-coverage premium costs in the Philadelphia metro area — which includes Camden and Wilmington — jumped 154% this year. It is the largest increase of any of the 26 metros examined by Bankrate. Only drivers in the Tampa, Miami, and Detroit metros are spending a larger percentage of their household incomes on their car premium than those in the Philly metro area, according to Bankrate’s analysis.
Nationally, the average cost of full-coverage car insurance has increased 26% since last year, according to the report.
“Almost every state except for one had massive rate increases,” said Shannon Martin, a Bankrate analyst. “It’s just really huge at a time when people are struggling so much.” This year, the average cost of full-coverage car insurance nationwide is $2,543 annually, up $529 from last year.
