Didn't they tell us that the building was closed due to roof repairs? The PA Legislature is on extended (paid) leave right now, and they aren't back in session until the end of March. I'm guessing that Senator John Fetterman was not among those arrested.

An elevated speaking platform, massive television screens, and hundreds of chairs already were in place when the protest began.
Between 1 and 2 p.m. many people were restrained with their hands behind their backs by police officers and led away, even as chants against state investing decisions continued.
Lilah Saber, identified by a participant as a spokesperson for the group, said there were more than 150 arrests overall. “There were about 10 folks from Pittsburgh” in that number, she said.

As we know, the Dems of Pennsylvania must continue to woo the independent non-affiliated voters, who are ALWAYS the lynchpin to any victory in our state. In 1972 I became a first-time voter and I registered as an independent and stayed that way for 35 years. Finally in 2008 I registered as a Democrat because I wanted to vote for Hillary Clinton in the primary election. Never in all those years did I ever voted for a Repuke for President. Independent voters are an important factor in our elections, especially in swing-states such as Pennsylvania.

Of about 47,300 new voter registrations, 35% chose independent or a third party, 34% opted for Republican and 31% went with Democratic, according to the data. By comparison, during a similar period two years ago, there were about 32,500 new voter registrations, with a breakdown of 35.5% Democratic, 34% independent or a third party and 30.5% Republican.

Commonwealth Campuses are otherwise known as "satellite campuses" at other large state universities. They are the smaller schools that confer 2-year associates' degrees, and they also prepare bachelors' candidates for further study at the main campus in University Park. Under her leadership, Penn State moved to a two-year budget model to provide more predictability and stability to its financial planning. Handling the university’s multimillion-dollar budget deficit has been an ongoing challenge for Bendapudi since she became president in May 2022.
“The need for change within our University is undeniable and must occur for Penn State to retain its status as a leading institution, to innovate, and to invest in greatness at scale in education and research,” Bendapudi said in the university’s announcement.

It provides drinking water to more than 1 million people and serves as a habitat for hundreds of animal species, including the threatened Salamander mussel.
That’s the Allegheny River, which has been named Pennsylvania’s 2024 River of the Year by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources and Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds & Rivers. Held annually since 1983, the contest raises awareness about the Pennsylvania environment and local conservation efforts.
Janet Sweeney, vice president of the watershed organization, said in a release that the “program continues to engage our communities by providing a wonderful opportunity to showcase all the nominated rivers and the great work being done in Pennsylvania on these resources.”
