FakeNoose
FakeNoose's JournalIs this the place for listing the late-night talk show guests?
I get a daily RSS feed of the guest lists for most of the late-night shows.
I've never shared this info on DU, but there's no reason why I couldn't.
I just don't know where it should be posted.
Here's a sample:
I'm thinking someone might want to know if they plan to DVR a certain show?
I can also post this earlier in the day, which might be more useful.
Today's Tiedrich rant: Arizona's forced-birth fascists revive abortion ban from 1864 (NSFW)
Link: https://www.jefftiedrich.com/p/arizonas-forced-birth-fascists-revive
only one day after Little Donny Fuckface put out that video lauding the brilliance of having individual states rule over womens healthcare, Arizonas Supreme Court done gone and individual-stated the shit out of reproductive choice.
Today, Arizonas highest court, in a 4-to-2 decision, upheld an Arizona law dating from 1864 that bans nearly all abortions. The law, which was on the books long before Arizona achieved statehood, outlaws abortion from the moment of conception, except when necessary to save the life of the mother. It makes no exceptions for rape or incest. Doctors prosecuted under the law could face fines and prison terms of two to five years.
way to go, Arizona Supreme Court. ace job, criminalizing access to healthcare by reviving a century-and-a-half old law. thats right: its a fucking territorial law. wrap your mind around that: a territorial law. written in 1864. Arizona didnt become a state until 1912.
Kari Lake is apoplectic! fuck all the way off, Kari. you see, Flip Flop Kari was for the 1864 ban before she was against it. ...

My friends, this is an awesome Tiedrich rant, with major points against Lake and other Repukes like former Governor Ducey, and Chump himself.

Opioid settlement cash a boon to Pa. prosecutors but public defenders are being turned away
Spotlight PA link: https://www.spotlightpa.org/news/2024/04/opioid-settlement-cash-boon-to-pennsylvania-prosecutors-but-public-defenders-are-being-turned-away/Gary Knaresboro, Elk Countys chief public defender, said his office interacts directly with people experiencing addiction. He believes public defenders are often uniquely positioned to intercede to change lives for the better. I think we have to present that chance to everybody, whether they take advantage of it or not, he said. But when Elk County asked the Pennsylvania Opioid Misuse and Addiction Abatement Trust for guidance, hoping not to violate rules governing how to properly use the funds, the body provided a disappointing answer: No.
Since the services of an assistant public defender are required to be provided by the counties, the costs associated with their position would not be considered an abatement strategy, the response from the trusts advisory committee said. The guidance which was shared with Elk County and posted on the trusts website came as a blow to public defenders in Elk County and across the state, whose work is constitutionally guaranteed, but has long been severely underfunded.
While prosecutors' offices have for years received millions of dollars in reimbursement from the state, until this year Pennsylvania did not contribute consistent funding to indigent defense, leaving counties to shoulder the financial burden. In December, the legislature approved $7.5 million to aid counties in providing no-cost counsel to people accused of a crime, but the money is unlikely to level the playing field against well-funded prosecutors, experts told Spotlight PA in January.
Prosecutors officers also receive funds from the opioid settlements. Ten offices were entitled to more than $4.5 million in opioid settlement money in 2022 and 2023 as part of the states distribution plan.

Spotlight PA has been dogging this story on the opioid settlement funds for several years. The secret meetings and failures to share information with the public have been frustrating.
Pittsburgh's successful city deer cull should be expanded this year (Editorial)
Link: https://www.post-gazette.com/opinion/editorials/2024/04/09/deep-management-pilot-park-bow-archer-cull/stories/202404090011
In one of the few recent public relations successes for city government, last September a social media meme announcing that The City of Pittsburgh is seeking 30 archers briefly went viral, as the announcement evoked images of a medieval tournament. Perhaps, some wondered, the champion would win the hand of an eligible maiden or bachelor.
Unfortunately the real purpose was far more prosaic but also more important to the daily lives of city residents: There are too many deer in Pittsburgh, and someone has to kill them.
While hunting is seen in some circles as inherently cruel, when done right its a crucial aspect of the maintenance of the natural environment humans share with our fellow creatures. Too many deer isnt just an inconvenience: Its dangerous to human safety and to the biodiversity of the urban and suburban ecosystem. And bad for the deer themselves.
Many Pennsylvania towns and cities are dealing with this problem!
Today's Tiedrich rant: never forget: Donald Trump called for women having abortions to be "punished"
Link: https://www.jefftiedrich.com/p/never-forget-donald-trump-called
the hamster on the wheel inside Donnys head frantically started running twice as fast as Donny scrambled for an answer because he had no opinion. prior to that moment, the only times Trump had ever thought about abortion were when he had to pay for one. oh, and there was the time he asked then-wife Marla Maples to abort Tiffany.
after a few spins around the wheel, the hamster blurted out the following response:
the answer is that there has to be some sort of punishment.
for the woman? yeah, there has to be some form.
this answer was Peak Fucking Trump, because first, it fed into his retribution and cruelty fetish and second, because it was what he thought his base wanted to hear.
This was the moment when Chump secured the Christo-fascist voters to his side. He probably would have gotten them anyway, since there was no way they'd ever back Hillary Clinton. But still, they fell in love with Chump at this point.
Today's rant is about how Chump took all the credit for right-wing SCOTUS and how they dumped the Roe v Wade ruling in the garbage. But now he's hoping US voters will forget all that because he's afraid it's going to cost him votes. His BIG ANNOUNCEMENT yesterday was about how abortion rights should be decided at the state level because that what he thinks voters want to hear. It's all BS of course.
Great rant, and worth a click to read the rest on Tiedrich's blog.
By now most of us have received our mailed primary ballots
I got mine on Thursday and I've taken a few days to look everything over. The ballot must be filled out, and placed into the secrecy envelope. Secrey envelope is redesigned this year - printed yellow and marked "Official Election Ballot" on the outside. We don't sign or date the secrecy envelope.
The secrecy envelope slides into the pre-addressed outer envelope, and that envelope is also clearly marked. It shows a barcode, a box with an "X" and where to sign one's name. It says "Today's date here" with boxes where we write the date. Only the hopelessly confused (or perhaps first-time voters) could mess this up, and many of us have already voted by mail at least 3 or 4 times.
Anyone who fails to complete the "signature" and "today's date" on the outer envelope will not get their vote counted, so please double check before mailing.

Today's Tiedrich rant: states of emergency and other dipshit wingnut reactions to today's eclipse
Link: https://www.jefftiedrich.com/p/states-of-emergency-and-other-dipshit
check out this tasty slice of prime fucknuttery:
Gov. Sanders declares state of emergency ahead of eclipse
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders declared a state of emergency on Friday ahead of the solar eclipse, according to a news release. Sanders said in the release that she released funds from the Response and Recovery Fund to help commercial carriers transport essentials to customers in the state during the eclipse. The essential items listed in the order include groceries, pharmacy items, medical equipment, goods, commodities, fuel, poultry, livestock and feed.
why, Sarah? the totality of the eclipse will be about 4 minutes. what do you expect is going to happen? what essentials will need to be transported during 240 seconds of darkness?
quick! we have a poultry emergency in Little Rock! the chickens think its night and fell asleep! send out the commercial carriers! alert the oh wait, the suns already coming back out.
Jeff is still the same ol' master of sarcasm. He layers it on for Sarah Sanders and then he moves on over to Marjory Taylor Greene. Please click on the link to read the rest on Tiedrich's blog....
I won't be seeing any eclipse today because we have 100% cloud cover in Pittsburgh, just like most days. Oh well there's probably a LIVE INTERNET broadcast of it on DU anyway.
Some Pa. municipalities are turning to fees to cover rising stormwater costs
Full headline: Some Pa. municipalities are turning to fees to cover rising stormwater costs, but pushback and a lawsuit threaten that revenue
Spotlight PA link: https://www.spotlightpa.org/statecollege/2024/04/pennsylvania-stormwater-fee-runoff-water-quality-local-government-rural/
The model is facing pushback from farmers who employ separate mitigation practices and large property owners confronted by pricey bills. The latter group includes West Chester University, which won a judgment in state court last year that found the fee was actually a tax that nonprofits like the school dont have to pay.
Municipal entities say the case, currently on appeal to the state Supreme Court, threatens a multimillion-dollar revenue source and their ability to keep pollution out of local waterways. The pipes, drains, and gutters that make up stormwater systems are largely invisible to most people until something goes wrong, but they are critical to prevent flooding, property damage, and pollution.
As Pennsylvanias stormwater infrastructure graded a D by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2022 gets older and heavy rain becomes more frequent, maintaining deteriorating pipes and drains is getting harder and more expensive.
This is a tough situation and it calls for mitigation by the state leadership. Some farming communities are getting hit with heavy costs, but maybe it should be equally shared by all PA residents and taxpayers - including so-called nonprofits.
Today's Tiedrich rant: Peter Navarro is having a shitty time in prison. boo fucking hoo
Link: https://www.jefftiedrich.com/p/peter-navarro-is-having-a-shitty
its only been 16 days, but already Petes been whining to all who will listen. the food sucks. the cell sucks. the guards suck. all the other inmates suck. the lack of privacy sucks. waking up at 4am sucks. having no control over your life sucks. its not fair!
.... Big Sad Petes gone running to the Supreme Court and hes asking his pal Neil Gorsuch to issue him a Get-Out-Of-Contempt-Of-Congress-Free Card, pronto.
Tuesdays petition for reconsideration was submitted by Navarros lawyers, Stan M. Brand and Stanley E. Woodward, Jr., stating: Dr. Peter K. Navarro self-surrendered to the custody of the Bureau of Prisons on March 19, 2024 and has now served fifteen (15) days of his four (4) month sentence. Of note, on March 26, 2024, the D.C. Circuit set a briefing schedule in his appeal, providing that briefing will not be concluded until July 19, 2024, after he is scheduled to have served the entirety of his prison sentence. Accordingly, we respectfully request your reconsideration of the Chief Justices denial.
isnt that nice? Dr. Peter K. Navarro wants you to know that just because he showed up for prison on time and was a very good boy for fifteen days, he should get a participation trophy, a pat on the head, and be sent merrily on his way.
So yeah, Tiedrich makes the point that all Navarro had to do was show up for the Congressional subpoena back in 2022. That's what this is all about. Why should the Supreme Court (including Justice Gorsuch) even listen to Navarro now?
This is a great rant today! Worth a click to read the rest on Tiedrich's blog.
Today's Tiedrich rant: what the fuck are you doing, Aileen?
Link: https://www.jefftiedrich.com/p/what-the-fuck-are-you-doing-aileen
most infuriatingly, shes refusing to rule on anything, kicking every can down the road. Trump will make some ridiculous claim, and instead of immediately slapping it down, Cannon will stick it in her back pocket and make a pinky-swear promise to get back to us about it real soon now. unanswered filings are piling up, pushing any possibility of a trial further into the future. yesterday, she declined to set a trial date.
the Man Who Convicts War Criminals In The Hague has finally lost his famous cool and late last night filed a writ of shit or get off the pot, Aileen. at the center of this donnybook is Donny Trumps wackadoodle insistence that the Presidential Records Act says that just by touching any document, they magically become his personal property. (this is actually the opposite of what the Presidential Records Act states.)
any other judge in the multiverse would have rejected this dumbfuck notion in about two nanoseconds, and ruled immediately from the bench but not Judge Aileen. nope, shes actually taking it seriously. in fact, shes taking it so seriously that she asked Jack Smith to play make-believe along with her, and pretend that it were true.
Great rant here, lots of insults and digs at Judge Aileen Cannon.
I don't know whether Jeff Tiedrich is a lawyer, but he's doing a good job of explaining these pre-trial procedures to his non-legal readers (namely me).
When will Aileen Cannon finally be booted off this case? It sounds like Jack Smith is really trying to show her the door.
