In which Lindy West convinces me...

She makes the best damned argument I've read to convince me that yes, even in the reddest of red districts, abortion must be a litmus test for a Democratic candidate. I admit that I was wrong because she tells it like it is. The money quotes are in the last couple of paragraphs, and the final line, but please click the link below the quoted section and read the entire thing. This opinion piece is a thing of beauty and served to convince this old Democrat:

Of Course Abortion Should Be a Litmus Test for Democrats

...
Abortion is not controversial on the left. So what does it say that so many lefty men are willing to scrap it in an attempt to pander to some vague fantasy of a vast, disgruntled, anti-choice center? What kind of cringing, bewildered invertebrates roll over and capitulate to the losing side of a debate at a time when they’ve never had more leverage? What contortionist of logic came up with the proposal that alienating 75 percent of one’s constituents, and declaring half to not deserve control over their bodies, can strengthen a party’s numbers? This is not broadening our coalition; it’s flagrantly shrinking it.

There has never been a more opportune moment for the Democratic Party to demand compromise — not from the left but from the center. What are anti-choice Democrats going to do? Become Republicans? Now? Jump into the abattoir of clown meat whose top policy priority seems to be “poor people deserve to die of preventable diseases”?

Come on, Democrats. Be something. Unite and move left. The center will follow or lose.

Admissions from the call center, part 2. Kaspersky

In my call center job, I have been directed to assuage fears over customers who have Kaspersky installed.

If I gave my honest opinion to my customers who have Kaspersky currently as their Internet Security software, I would tell them to immediately uninstall the software, Wipe their hard drives clean to NSA standards, and reinstall Windows from the beginning. ANY computer with Kaspersky installed should be treated as having the worst rootkit and other malware infected and be treated as a pariah on any local area networks.

My opinion, but I am not allowed to give it to my customers.

The biggest hero last night was Lisa Murkowski

She faced threats to destroy her entire state and she held fast.

McCain face a "stern talking to".

Collins faced a guaranteed loss of her seat in her state if she DIDN'T hold fast.

McCain is taking revenge on Trump

McCain is probably extremely pissed off at Trump over Trump announcing a major policy change with the military via Twitter, which showed a massive level of disrespect for the chain of command.

If you have a Democratic Senator, CALL THEM NOW!

Make sure your Democratic Senator understands that you are concerned Trump will fire Sessions and recess appoint somebody who will then fire Mueller.

Offer your whole hearted support for a filibuster of the adjournment resolution!

I still contend the media helped Trump because they WANTED this.

They NEEDED this.

A constitutional crisis of historic proportions means eyes on glass to watch every moment of historical horror as it unfolds.

And eyes on glass make the price of advertising rise.

EVERYTHING since Trump announced in all quarters of the media and the GOP has been about nothing more than money.

EVERYTHING!

He should be in prison for the rest of his life.

That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
