Covid booster side effects is a good thing....

"Covid-19 vaccine study links side effects with greater antibody response"

https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/24/health/covid-antibody-response-vaccines/index.html

(CNN)"People who reported experiencing side effects to the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines such as fever, chills or muscle pain tended to have a greater antibody response following vaccination, according to new research."

"Having such symptoms after vaccination is associated with greater antibody responses compared with having only pain or rash at the injection site or no symptoms at all, suggests the paper published Friday in the journal JAMA Network Open." In conclusion, these findings support reframing postvaccination symptoms as signals of vaccine effectiveness and reinforce guidelines for vaccine boosters in older adults," the researchers -- from Columbia University in New York, University of Vermont and Boston University -- wrote in their paper."

"This is more to reassure people who have had a reaction that that's their immune system responding, actually in a rather good way, to the vaccine, even though it has caused them some discomfort," Schaffner said. The researchers analyzed data on 928 adults who self-reported what symptoms they experienced after receiving Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna Covid-19 vaccinations, as well as submitted a dried blood spot to test for antibodies. Most of the participants were White adults, with a mean age of 65. The researchers found that after either vaccine dose, 446 or 48% of participants reported systemic symptoms while 12% reported only local symptoms and 40% reported no symptoms at all."

*** I had a bad response but my brain knew that was a good thing! I got the flu and latest booster Oct 4th and had a bad migraine as opposed to an average one with past boosters. I figured that if my body is reacting this strongly to a little dose than if I actually did get Covid it would be very bad for my system.

Russian forces "preparing to work under radioactive contamination"

https://www.reuters.com/world/russia-says-its-forces-are-preparing-work-under-radioactive-contamination-2022-10-24/

"Russia's Defence Ministry said on Monday that it had prepared its forces to work in conditions of radioactive contamination, after Moscow accused Ukraine of planning to detonate a "dirty bomb" - something Kyiv has strongly denied. After weeks of rising international tension following threats by President Vladimir Putin to defend Russia's "territorial integrity" with nuclear weapons, it was the first concrete statement from Moscow of a change in its forces' state of preparedness."

"Ukraine wanted to paint Russia as a "nuclear terrorist", he said. "The aim of the provocation would be to accuse Russia of using a weapon of mass destruction in the Ukrainian military theatre and by that means to launch a powerful anti-Russian campaign in the world, aimed at undermining trust in Moscow."

"Kirillov concluded: "Work has been organised by the ministry of defence to counter possible provocations from the Ukrainian side: forces and resources have been put in readiness to perform tasks in conditions of radioactive contamination."

German Climate Activists throw food on Monet painting

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/24/police-arrest-climate-protestors-who-threw-mashed-potatoes-at-monet-painting.html

"Police have arrested two climate activists who threw mashed potatoes at a Claude Monet painting in a museum in Germany to protest fossil fuel production.
The protesters on Sunday targeted Monet's "Les Meules" at the Barberini Museum in Potsdam, a city on the border of Berlin.
The German climate group Last Generation took credit for the stunt, which caused no damage to the art."

"The incident was the latest attack on famous artwork carried out by protesters calling for action on climate change. Earlier this month, activists from the campaign group Just Stop Oil were arrested after throwing tomato soup on Vincent Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" painting in the National Gallery in London."

*** Do these activists really think damaging artwork helps their cause? I think it promotes negative, not positive, emotion.

Is COVID-19 reaching the endemic stage?

https://www.umassmed.edu/news/news-archives/2022/08/is-covid-19-reaching-the-endemic-stage-umass-chan-virologist-jeremy-luban-weighs-in/

"Now, as we approach the fall, we are in a different place. Many more people have developed a level of anti-SARS-CoV-2 immunity, from vaccination and/or infection. We’ve learned that boosters have an important role to play in terms of protecting against severe disease, though there are still big proportions of the population that haven’t been boosted."

"But it’s possible that this coming fall is going to be the first relatively normal period for us since the beginning of the pandemic. It may be the beginning of the real endemic phase for us, where most people who get infection have a common cold. But we don’t know that with any certainty, and with SARS-CoV-2 we have to be prepared for the worst."

"Another question concerns the long-term effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection. There are many indications that SARS-CoV-2 can have long-term effects on people’s health, sometimes called long COVID. We know little about these long-term effects and this is a very important area of research."
