Has anyone experienced poor performance with Samsung

products? It seems like their tablets suck and their phones are about the same. Their customer service and could use a lot of work, too.

There has not been a mass shooting in the last 4 days....

Should we celebrate?

Is it "news" when one of these "events" isn't in the national news for more than 4 days? I am finding myself becoming numb to all of the mass shootings anymore. It is almost like a rarity to see none on the news when I turn on the TV. What has the country become?

Cannabis is not the pain killer some hoped it would be.....

https://www.sciencealert.com/cannabis-for-pain-relief-review-of-20-studies-provides-sobering-results

"Although cannabis (and cannabis-derived products, such as CBD) may be widely used for reducing pain, how effective it really is in doing this is still unclear. This is what our recent systematic review and meta-analysis sought to uncover.

Our study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, suggests cannabis is no better at relieving pain than a placebo.

There are numerous examples of the relationship between treatment expectations and placebo responses. If a person thinks they will experience relief from their pain by using a certain product or treatment, this can change the way they end up perceiving incoming pain signals – making them think their pain is less severe. Recent evidence suggests that the placebo effect may work even if we're presented with evidence that contradicts our initial expectations."

*My own personal experience over the last 30 years supports this theory. I have tried it for everything from menstrual cramps and migraines to pancreatitus and it has never reduced any of my pain. It helps me sleep at night and that is with 90% Indica so that is why I use it.

Masking student in public schools slows the spread of Covid

https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/nation/masks-cut-covid-spread-in-schools-study-finds/

"New studies show that masking in public schools does help to slow the spread Covid.

Now a research paper details a so-called natural experiment that occurred when all but two school districts in the greater Boston area lifted mask requirements in the spring. Researchers took that opportunity to make a direct comparison of the spread of COVID in masking and nonmasking schools.

The bottom line: Masking mandates were linked with significantly reduced numbers of COVID-19 cases in schools.

Infection rates were lower among masked students — even in Boston’s public schools, where many buildings are old and lack good ventilation systems, classrooms are crowded and students are more often from at-risk communities — than among unmasked students attending newer schools in communities like Cambridge and Newton."

A special prosecutor is a good thing.....

He is non-partisan, it is fully funded, it is relatively quick and can't be derailed by the GQP easily. These are the same reasons I was calling for a special prosecutor for tRump in 2017.

I doubt Garland will edit 90% out of the report like Barr did.

Republicans win U.S. House majority, setting stage for divided government

Source: Reuters

Republicans were projected to win a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday, setting the stage for two years of divided government as President Joe Biden's Democratic Party held control of the Senate. The victory gives Republicans the power to rein in Biden's agenda, as well as to launch potentially politically damaging probes of his administration and family, though it falls far short of the "red wave" the party had hoped for.

The final call came after more than a week of ballot counting, when Edison Research projected Republicans had won the 218 seats they needed to control the House. Republican victory in California's 27th Congressional district took the party over the line.

Democrats have been buoyed by voters' repudiation of a string of far-right Republican candidates, most of them allies of Trump, including Mehmet Oz and Doug Mastriano in Pennsylvania's Senate and governor's races respectively, and Blake Masters in Arizona's Senate contest.

Even though the expected "red wave" of House Republicans never reached shore, conservatives are sticking to their agenda.

About BigmanPigman

I am 57, retired teacher and illustrator, life-long dem., activist, union member. Also I do not use social media and I'm technologically retarded. I love dogs, rock music and swearing (a lot). My 17 year old "puppy" died on June 2, 2020. She grew up listening to Animals (Pink Floyd). She has kept me sane through the tRump years, not easy, and has given me endless love, companionship, kisses and tail wags.
