And at some point today, maybe even over dinner, please take a moment to reflect on the history being made right before our eyes. This is not like the last impeachment. Back then both sides admitted to the reality of the situation. It was more a question of was this what the founders thought impeachment was created for. This time there is no doubt that this is exactly what the founders created impeachment for. This time Republicans in Congress must choose between the Constitution, which they have sworn to protect, or to instead use the power of their office to obstruct justice and in that process join the president in his crime.
And yes, if it is your way, please say a very honest prayer for Republicans. For those in national office I don’t believe it will hold much sway. By the time Republicans get to national office they understand the republican gig. They know their job is to take health care from the poor simply to give tax cuts to the rich. They know they are setting in motion eighty percent of America’s abortions by banning sex education in schools; blocking affordable, accessible birth control; and shutting down Planned Parenthoods across the country. For nationally elected Republicans blocking minorities from voting is no biggie. And they are fine with catastrophically damaging the Earth’s environment for a thousand years to come for short-term profits for the fossil fuel industry.
But as much as I don’t hold out much hope for thoughts and prayers for Republicans in national office, I still hold out hope for their voters. Where once you could get a Republican Senator to pause at the question of “Have you no dignity?” today any nationally elected official still with the Republican Party has moved past any thought of dignity a long time ago. But Republican voters are a very different story. Many still do have dignity, many still do care. I find great promise in the fact that they only believe what they believe because Fox News, the Attorney General and all the rest are intentionally lying to them. The trick is how to get them to see the reality right in front of them.
For us the way forward is to grow our message as best we can. This time of year gives us the very best chance to grow and you sharing Justice, gift boxes and gift cards is our best chance at doing that. Thanks for your help. All the people who could clear trump of his crimes by testifying under oath
are refusing to testify under oath. Wonder why that is?
Funny how that works. Not only could the republicans completely clear trump of any wrong doing, they could "own the dems" and shut them down in complete embarrassment by having these key witnesses testify and produce the documents.
But all they want to do is make noise and hammer away on the process.
