Its all too real in my part of the state, my family is safe and thats all that I can concern myself with at this time....My ex-dil sat helplessly at the bedside of the 1st person to die in our county...
Messages from our neighborhood children....a glimmer of hope from the littles! ❤️💜💙💚🧡💛
An inspirational quote for these times.....
We all owe everyone for everything that happens in our lives. But its not owing like a debt to one person its really that we owe everyone for everything. Our whole lives can change in an instant so each person who keeps that from happening, no matter how small a role they play, is also responsible for all of it. Just by giving friendship and love, you keep the people around you from giving up and each expression of friendship or love may be the one that makes all the difference.

Stay safe everyone and stay home!
Questions on this coronavirus bill and payouts....
Im hearing senior citizens arent eligible, anyone else hear that? Will a person, still able to work full time with no interruption in income, receive the payout? If someone who has not filed taxes in 2018 or 2019 (complicated audit) be eligible?
Please no judgement, just need info.....
From Facebook....
In three short months, just like He did with the plagues of Egypt, God has taken away everything we worship. God said, "you want to worship athletes, I will shut down the stadiums. You want to worship musicians, I will shut down Civic Centers. You want to worship actors, I will shut down theaters. You want to worship money, I will shut down the economy and collapse the stock market. You don't want to go to church and worship Me, I will make it where you can't go to church"
"If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
Maybe we don't need a vaccine, Maybe we need to take this time of isolation from the distractions of the world and have a personal revival where we focus on the ONLY thing in the world that really matters. Jesus.
If you believe this copy and share. Start the revival in your home......Spread the Love of Jesus.
***Correct me if Im wrong but God didnt mention stadiums, Civic Centers or the Stock Market anywhere, did he?

Their Money or Your Life (The Fraudulence of Pro-Life, Christian Capitalists)
"Love is powerful.
It will make human beings do almost anything.
Were seeing that right now.
Some people adore capitalism so much, theyre willing to sell their souls to support it.
Theyre willing to spend other people lives in service of it.
In the middle of a brutal sprawling pandemic, on a day when 100 Americans died and our confirmed cases topped 43,000, Republican lieutenant governor of Texas, Dan Patrick, went on Fox News and said that older Americans would and should be willing to die in order to preserve the economy; that the elderly are the acceptable collateral damage of boosting the Stock Market and getting businesses rolling. He essentially served up grandparents and great aunts and Nanas and neighbors as seed money for Trumps reelection campaign and as a temporary recession stay.
Not coincidentally, this unthinkably macabre theory came on the same day that Donald Trump began suggesting he will send people back to work next weekeven as doctors and scientists have been begging people to take self-isolation guidelines seriously because the virus is approaching uncontainable levels; even as school systems are announcing shutdowns until at least May; even while test kits are still unavailable to hundreds of thousands, even as people are stockpiling toilet paper and rice and guns; even as our health care workers are pushed to the brink of collapse.
It also came on the same day when Republicans are trying to ram a slush-fund trojan hose disguised as economic crisis aid through the Senate; one that pads the already heavily buffered nest eggs of corporations and does little more for day laborers and the working poor, than give them the cheap buss of a one-time token gift.
This is the repugnant sham of pro-life Christianity revealed in all its grotesque ugliness.
This is what the Religious Right really thinks about human life: if the price is right, it is all expendable.
This is the economy of soul capitalism: their money is worth your life.
Others supply can meet their greedy demand.
For all their tearful, showy displays of phony religion, all their impassioned pleas about embryos in the womb being sacredthey will let sentient human beings with grandchildren and spouses and decades of wisdom, die on the altar of their 401Ks.
Theyre actually lobbying to send millions of people back into the swirling chaos of an infectious disease even before the peak of its spreadbecause their identity and the Presidents base is so beholden to a group of numbers and a ledger ending up in the black, that it sees no value in sick, elderly, and vulnerable human beings, for whom relaunching business as usual would be a certain death sentence.
Jesus said you cannot serve both God and money.
I never see these pro-life Christian Republicans wearing that verse on their chests or plastering it on their bumpers or brazenly broadcasting on social media, because then theyd be forced to face their fraudulence, theyd be forced to admit their hypocrisyand theyd have to confess that the teachings of Jesus and the sanctity of life arent all that critical when theres a buck to be made or a bailout to be brokered.
Call me strange, but I dont think the sick or the elderly are expendable just so Republicans can hold the presidency or so some already wealthy people can become even wealthier.
I dont see my mother or your grandfather or your next-door neighbor or your co-workers spouse as the acceptable collateral damage of temporarily boosting the Dow or nudging Donald Trumps poll numbers or providing a one-day national emotional placebo that allows a virus to keep killing. I dont believe older peoples lives are chips for someone else to cash in.
Maybe Im not a pro-life Christianjust a decent human being who values elderly and sick and vulnerable people who are living here right now, who deserve to be here as long as anyone else.
I dont give a damn about the economy if it costs us humanity.
Ill be okay with that balance in my ledger.
I can look myself in the mirror.
I can sleep at night."

Bill Penzey and the Coronavirus....
So along with our stores, as of this past Sunday weve closed our warehouse for shipping orders for 3 weeks because it is the right thing to do. Theres lots of essential jobs out there but very-very few that are so essential they cant shut down for 2-3 weeks. Everyone in America whose job isnt truly, absolutely critical should be staying home right now. We are doing our part, as should all of you. Go home. Stay home. Really stay home. This isnt the time for grand meanders around the neighborhood. Save lives by not letting your ability to transmit viruses overwhelm our hospitals and their courageous staffs. Please.
And for all the uncertainty we are all facing on so many levels, there really is no uncertainty to the way out of all this. The answer is a nation-wide shut down followed by as many as possible being tested. I cant help but imagine how different this all would have been for America if that over-prepared woman who far more people voted for was in the Oval Office to shut everything down in February. Elections truly do have consequences. South Korea was prepared and no one there called this a hoax. Even though they were hit well before us they already coming out of this with 120 deaths total. Yesterday alone America had 140 deaths and that number is now taking off like a rocket ship. Damn.
So we are shut down until April 13th. Orders already placed and new orders placed going forward will be given priority by day placed. With your huge response in support of our email announcing our stores temporarily closing we were a few days behind in getting orders out when we shut down. I am sorry. If you need to cancel your order click here, but of course we would appreciate it if you didnt. In fact, I believe theres a lot to be said for placing an order right now so you are up by the front of the line when orders start shipping again, but I suspect I may be biased. Nobody gets charged until orders ship.
In trying to think of a story of value to share for times like these Ive arrived at my very earliest days working in my parents' spice store at the corner of 33rd and Galena on Milwaukees near northwest side. And where growing up in the Milwaukee county suburb of Wauwatosa was all pretty non-stop white privilege, working in the 33rd and Galena neighborhood was pretty much the exact opposite of that.
Back in the late seventies we had customers driving in to shop with us from all over southeastern Wisconsin to stock up, but some of my best moments were with the people of the neighborhood just walking over to get what they needed that night. That despite my white kid suburban privilege I also got the chance to play a part in generations connecting to their roots through nutmeg and sage and cayenne pepper is a huge part of why Penzeys is what it is today. Thanks Dad!
I think in some ways I was a curiosity to our neighborhood customers, but for whatever reason they seemed to like me. At times they would share with me bits that their lives had given to them that they knew my life had left me clueless to. The late seventies was, like now, a time where the economy got so bad layoffs had actually reached into the lives of the privileged as well as those who usually bear the brunt. Against this background one of the neighbors shared this joke of truth with me: Hey kid, do you know the difference between a Recession and a Depression? I responded with a weak: Maybe, but not really? To which he delivered: A Recession is when your family moves in with you. A Depression is when you move in with your family.
That one stuck. Its so nice on so many levels. At first you want to respond with: Hey wait a minute... but then its pretty much everything Einstein was getting at with his Theory of Relatively with double-extra bonus points for being about your relatives, but ultimately its a story about kindness, acceptance and even hope. Wrapped in this joke was the gift of the basic truth that no matter what happens, no matter how much our plans have gone amiss, in our humanity there is always someone there to catch you if you fall. So beautiful. Thanks neighbor man from 42? years ago!
Our original Galena Street and newer no-salt Galena Street are us doing our best to sum up the popular flavors of our original neighborhood and those efforts were well-received. Yes, originally they were used a lot for chicken and ribs, but the Galena flavor is also great for root vegetables, wonderful for stuffing, and makes for an awesome breakfast sausage patty with whatever meat or non-meat you choose. Order yours today. You will have to wait 3+ weeks for delivery, but you will be at the head of the line. Thanks.
And please stay home waiting for that delivery. With the nature of the coronavirus the death toll of the next 12-14 days is already virtually carved in stone. For the next 14 days we will pay the price for not taking this seriously and that price will be heartbreaking. But what happens on that 15th day is very much in our hands today. Today is our chance to make a difference. Please do what is right.
Thank you,
Bill
