clementine613's JournalRethugs barred from adopting child in MA. Good.
A Massachusetts couple filed a complaint this week against the states health secretary and multiple officials in the Department of Children and Families after their application to become foster parents was denied over their stance on LGBTQ people.
Michael and Catherine Kitty Burke began the monthslong application process with the DCF to foster or adopt a child in January 2022, according to the complaint. The process involved screenings to gauge the couples views on raising children from historically marginalized groups, including LGBTQ children.
A social workers report attached to the complaint said the couple was asked how they would feel if a child in their care identified as LGBTQ or struggled with their gender identity. Kitty Burke responded by saying lets take the T out of it and called gender-affirming care chemical castration, according to the report. She also said, Im going to love you the same, but that the child would need to live a chaste life. Both Kitty and Michael Burke expressed hesitation around using a transgender or nonbinary persons preferred pronouns, the social workers report noted.
Good. Rethugs shouldn't be allowed anywhere near children, where they can fill the kids' minds with their poisonous beliefs.

What I Wish Would Happen... Schedule All of Dump's Trials At the Same Time
and then have him arrested for contempt of court for the ones he doesn't show up for.
I know it'll never happen (our DoJ is too cowardly)... but I can dream...
(My apologies... I posted this in the DU Lounge before, but it seems that that might have been the wrong forum. I deleted it from there and reposted here.)
Why do we allow the narrative that the Rethugs will take the House next week?
I see it all over the place that the Rethugs are going to win the House in next week's election. Why do we allow this? Why don't we show how that's untrue and that we can keep the House. Putting it out as a "done deal" is damaging to our cause. Why don't we fight this fire with fire of our own?
How about a wealth tax of 100%
on any amount over $30 million?* Seriously, does anyone need any more than that?
* I just picked $30m for the sake of argument and am fully aware that a different number (higher or lower) may be needed, so if you're going to argue against me (which is fine), don't do it on the basis of the number alone.
Is There Any Rule That Says the Senate Can't Try to Convict Trump Again?
I was wondering if the Senate could take up either/both of the Articles of Impeachment against Trump again after the 2022 midterms and possibly convict Trump and hold him ineligible to hold office.
(And no, please don't say "double jeopardy." That only applies to criminal trials. Impeachment and conviction in the Senate is a political process, not a criminal one).
So, now that the Repukes have messed up the vote in NYC...
... are we still going to ever trust them to run an election again?
How long before the new SCOTUS interprets the 13th Amendment out of existence?
They can do that, you know. They can just say that it means something other than what it actually says. How long before we see slavery in the country again, especially if Trump wins? Six months? A year?
