Trump pardons grifter who stole from memorial fund for fallen officer

https://www.newsweek.com/trump-pardons-republican-who-spent-officer-memorial-fund-plastic-surgery-2063848

Nevada politician who was found guilty of using money intended for a memorial to honor a fallen officer on personal expenses including plastic surgery, has received a pardon from President Donald Trump.

Michele Fiore, former Las Vegas City councilwoman and Republican justice of the peace in Nye County, last year was convicted of six counts of federal wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

She was scheduled to be sentenced next month and was facing up to 20 years in prison for each count until she was granted the full and unconditional pardon on Wednesday.

Newsweek reached out to the White House via email for comment.

***My comment: It takes one to pardon one.***

Service for Pope Francis expected to last 2.5 hours. TSF can't go that long without being sucked up to.

So will he disrupt the service by leaving early, sleep through it, or back out at the last minute and miss the media coverage of him entering the Vatican? I’d say it’s a crap shoot

It took 45 mins, but just saved 64% on my home insurance. If, like me, you haven't shopped your insurance...do so.

I’ve had a lot going on the last few years caring for my wonderful husband. I also have all our bills set up for autopay. It just hit me that our home insurance had more than doubled just in the last few years. I printed our current policy and then went to another, frequently advertised insurance company and in minutes I had a quote. I’d been with my current company for 10 years without a single claim. I do not live in a flood risk or Forrest fire risk area. I live in a desert. The online quote was about 45% less for the same or very nearly same coverage. My next step was to contact the current company to see if they wanted to compete or be cancelled. I called the number on my policy. After going through all the automated choices and provided the 11 digit policy number and being offered to be given their wonderful website I waited for a live agent. One came on just a few minutes later. They informed me I had the wrong number and gave me the correct number then transferred me. Again, the automated choices and providing the 11 digit policy number, the kind offer to push me to the website and another short wait, that person said, again, I was in the wrong place and gave me yet another and transferred me. I’m on number three now who said yet again they did not service my policy and gave me another number and I said that is the very first number I started with. She kindly went on to do a little google investigating and ultimately suggested I call a local authorized insurance agent. I reached a very kind man who said he had a number for the companies headquarters and he would call and try and find someone for me. He put me on hold and finally, the right representative came online. She could not explain why her departments number was not on my policy or the website. Insurance companies have relationships with other insurance comapnies and depending on who sells the policy and what type home it is (an agent, online sales or their call center, a single family home, condo or mobile home) who services it becomes complicated. Turns out while the policy is from Liberty Mutual but sold to me by Geico via their call center. Bottom line after finally reaching the right group, they ran a search and found a policy from a reputable company with the same coverage for 64% less. Damn, that’s a huge savings and damn there seem to be insidious relationships between insurance companies. I’m delighted with the savings but disgusted that I paid so much more than I needed to for so long.

If you haven’t done so lately go home insurance shopping. My next shopping expedition will be for car insurance which has also been increasing despite not a single claim in my 45 years of driving.

Here's my support for Canada and Ukraine.

My neighbor complained to the HOA that I still had a Harris/Waltz sign up despite me checking her mail when she travelled and several times driving her to an airport shuttle. It was within her right per my state's HOA laws that require political signs be removed within 17 days after an election. Her complaint came not long after she asked how I was doing and I said terrible since we now had a convicted felon and rapist for a president.

Here’s what I replaced the one Harris/Waltz sign with (I’ve since added 3 small Ukrainian flags to keep the Canadian ones company). I suspect the flags may continue to multiply.

MAGA/ DOGE young hackers are our Chinese Red Guards who led the Cultural Revolution against education and the educated.

**My commentary: Very young people with little to know life experience were given unlimited power by Mao with a mission to destroy the FOUR OLDS which were were 'old ideas', 'old culture', 'old customs', and 'old habits' They targeted intellectuals, party officials, and anyone associated with the previous government. They led purges, public humiliation, and destruction of cultural artifacts and symbols. Education centers and the educated were their primary targets. Estimates are that at least 1-2 million died and many more harmed during this period called the Cultural Revolution.
Sound familiar? ***

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/may/11/the-cultural-revolution-50-years-on-all-you-need-to-know-about-chinas-political-convulsion

What was it and when did it begin?

The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution was a decade-long period of political and social chaos caused by Mao Zedong’s bid to use the Chinese masses to reassert his control over the Communist party.

Its bewildering complexity and almost unfathomable brutality was such that to this day historians struggle to make sense of everything that occurred during the period.

However, Mao’s decision to launch the “revolution” in May 1966 is now widely interpreted as an attempt to destroy his enemies by unleashing the people on the party and urging them to purify its ranks.

When the mass mobilisation kicked off party newspapers depicted it as an epochal struggle that would inject new life into the socialist cause. “Like the red sun rising in the east, the unprecedented Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution is illuminating the land with its brilliant rays,” one editorial read.

In fact, the Cultural Revolution crippled the economy, ruined millions of lives and thrust China into 10 years of turmoil, bloodshed, hunger and stagnation.

Gangs of students and Red Guards attacked people wearing “bourgeois clothes” on the street, “imperialist” signs were torn down and intellectuals and party officials were murdered or driven to suicide.

After violence had run its bloody course, the country’s rulers conceded it had been a catastrophe that had brought nothing but “grave disorder, damage and retrogression”.

An official party reckoning described it as a catastrophe which had caused “the most severe setback and the heaviest losses suffered by the party, the country, and the people since the founding of the People’s Republic” in 1949.

Is TSF providing cover for Putin war crimes against children? Is it inadvertent or another favor to Putin?

***I understand many don’t care for Raw Story but Washington Post has a paywall.

https://www.rawstory.com/trump-putin-ukraine-2671352832/

Excerpt:

The Washington Post reported Tuesday that the U.S. could be inadvertently helping Russian President Vladimir Putin cover up alleged Russian war crimes involving children.

The controversy revolves around a now terminated, U.S.-funded initiative that contained "a sensitive database detailing the mass deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia," The Post reported. The project was headed up by Yale University’s Humanitarian Research Lab, but that contract was recently scrapped by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency.

When the it abruptly ended, researchers reported losing "access to a trove of information, including satellite imagery and biometric data tracking the identities and locations of as many as 35,000 children from Ukraine."

National security reporter John Hudson wrote that the researchers were no longer able to transmit "evidence to prosecutors pursuing multiple criminal cases, including the International Criminal Court’s landmark indictment of Russian President Vladimir Putin for what it has called the 'unlawful transfer' of children from occupied areas of Ukraine."

Alyssa Farah accusing Lindsey Graham of selling out his principles....that's called fraud because he never had any to sell

It is tough to pick the worse Republican in the last 10 years. But Lindsey is on the shortlist.

How long before we start supplying arms to Russia?

I was reading an article about Ukraine effectively using portable anti-aircraft devices from Sweden against Russian aircraft. My first thought was how long before we supply arms to Russia?
