Drumph is already predicting that the "Abolish ICE" message will cost Democrats in November, and that idiot is good at one thing--reading other idiots.

Why does the GOP think it's OK for homophobe bakers and marriage license clerks to refuse service

based on their personal beliefs and feelings, but not a restaurant owner? Why is it okay for pharmacists to play God with women's healthcare and family planning choices (something that will affect the rest of their lives, not just inconvenience them with a missed meal)?

It's called hypocrisy.

Excuse me, just where are all the "Babies are precious gifts from Gawd" people right now? Why are they not joining the HUMAN BEINGS out there protesting, calling congress, donating for legal defense, speaking out loudly and unafraid against Trump and his INHUMANE treatment of INFANTS and CHILDREN?

For as long as I have breath, from now on every single person who claims to be "Pro-Life" is going to get a TOP OF MY LUNGS response from me: "Where were you when Trump was ripping infants from their mothers? What did you do to save THOSE children?"

"Pro-Life" is now, without a shred of doubt, a euphemism for "anti-women". Let's never entertain their sanctimonious horseshit again.

What did you think?

I thought it was really powerful. Some of the stories were hard to hear, and yet unsurprising at the same time. Here were some of my biggest takeaways, FWIW:

1) Across the country, we need to have a lot more of these types of discussions. Hearing these stories, and the resulting psychic harm, is needed to help white people "get it". More companies need to take a cue from Starbucks and devote time to educate their employees (and reinforce that training continually).
2) If we're ever going to turn the tide on everyday racism, we need more white people need to speak up when we see racism happening, even in subtle forms. And I don't say that because I think people of color need white people to "save" them. I say it because unfortunately, white people are more likely to listen to other white people. And also because racism is not just a problem for people of color, it's all of our problem. It harms our communities. It harms our workplaces. It harms our humanity.
3) I was amazed and saddened to hear how minority races and religions often must internalize their hurt and anger when they've been discriminated against, or else face even more real danger (being perceived as a "scary" or "angry" black person or muslim, or horror of horrors, both, can lead to police involvement). And I also understand more than ever why some minorities ARE really angry; I'd be beyond fed up too. Who wouldn't?

I wanted to say one more thing before I go: I really debated whether I should post in the African American forum because I am white. My sense is that my posting here might be seen as an intrusion of a safe space (and if so, I do apologize). But then I realized, "oh, that's probably how African Americans feel every day, only on a much larger scale". SMH.

Democrats' newest midterm pitch: Crackdown on corruption

Democrats are preparing to highlight allegations of corruption surrounding the Trump administration — and a legislative agenda to prevent future abuses — as they continue rolling out their party platform ahead of November’s midterm elections.

According to a senior Democratic official familiar with the announcement, the new agenda will include proposals that would eliminate loopholes that allow lobbyists and lawmakers to buy and sell influence without the public’s knowledge. The message: Elect Democrats in November to “clean up the chaos and corruption in Washington.”

“This administration is failing to police itself, to set moral standards, to clean up its messes, to shun corrupt behavior, and to drain the swamp,” the Democratic official said. “It’s the American people who are getting stuck with a raw deal. That has to change.”
The proposals are set to be rolled out Monday afternoon on Capitol Hill with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and several other congressional Democrats who have been engaged in anti-corruption issues, including Rep. John Sarbanes (Md.) and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.).

A friend is trying to talk me into doing this with him, and it SOUNDS beneficial but I have a strong feeling I'll hate it. Anyone tried this, and what did you think?

Tony Schwartz (co-author of Art of the Deal) explains why reasoning with trumpsters doesn't work

I saw him on "The Beat" with Ari Melber today. What he's saying makes a lot of sense about why people continue to support trump despite clearly knowing full well that he's a lying crook:

"What Democrats and opponents of trump get wrong again and again is they try to argue the merits, to prove that the lie is a lie, instead of recognizing that what they need to appeal to is bias of the people who are supporting him. What they need to do is say 'we'll do a better job of getting those bad guys who are after you than donald trump is'. And to have them FEEL that. Because Trump is so aggrieved, so angry, that they can relate to him as 'one of them', because they're angry too. So reason actually becomes undermining to your argument."

I'm pretty sure a lot of people are going to think or say "fuck them", but the fact is, that isn't working. And none of us are interested in coddling them either, but what Schwartz is suggesting is a different approach. Appeal to what they want. Make them believe we can give it to them.

According to legal expert on Nicole's show right now, that's their (Taint Team, I will never get tired of this phrase) job, to protect uninvolved clients. They would normally have gone through the client files and set aside anything unrelated to Cohen's alleged crimes.

By filing the motion, asking for exceptions to what gets reviewed/included in the investigaiton, Cohen inadvertently outed Hannity as his client.

Now, of course, we want to know why...

Question: Does Cohen have any other clients besides tRump?

I get the impression that Cohen's like the consigliere in "the Godfather" movies, he's like family and doesn't have any other clients. If so, the likelihood is very high that today's FBI raid was really about tRump's crimes as much as Cohen's.

Except that Cohen's also the Deputy Finance Chair of the RNC; so it could also go in that direction. Thoughts?
