William Powell, Kay Francis, Hardie Albright, Henry Kolker, Spencer Charters, Alan Mowbray, Helen Vinson. Disappointing adaptation of Edna Ferber's saga of an orphaned girl who becomes a schoolteacher in the midst of a farming community and raises her son to aspire to big things. Conservative hypocrisy re: medical marijuana

Dr. Dina, the "queen of medical marijuana in Hollywood", was interviewed concerning her medical marijuana consultant business. A video of this interview was posted to YouTube on November 7, 2014.

The interview covered the unusual kinds of clients that Dr. Dina has.

Interviewer: "Do you have any uptight conservative...?"

Dr. Dina: "Very uptight conservative political types."

I: "Any who have spoken out against weed?"

D: "Yes, but that's all I can say."

TCM Schedule for Saturday, September 7, 2019 - 2 movies you'll want to watch/record

1:30 PM -- THE WILD ONE (1953)

A cultural milestone: Marlon Brando "... became the premier icon of 1950s rebellion, pioneering the way James Dean, Elvis Presley, and others would follow. The Wild One also introduced biker hipster patter to movie audiences and defined biker fashion for decades to come." Richard T. Jameson https://www.amazon.com/Wild-One-Hugh-Sanders/dp/0767818172

3:00 PM -- THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI (1957)

In 1997, the film was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the United States Library of Congress. It has been included on the American Film Institute's list of best American films ever made.[4][5] In 1999, the British Film Institute voted The Bridge on the River Kwai the 11th greatest British film of the 20th century. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bridge_on_the_River_Kwai

If you've never seen this movie, this is a must-see movie.

I switched to Linux, and so far I like it.

1994 - 2008: Windows user. I left Windows because of a growing sense of dissatisfaction with the OS, culminating in my experience with Vista. I wanted an OS that would be less trouble, so I switched to Mac.

2008 - 2019: Mac user. I basically got tired of Apple making (in my opinion) over-priced and under-powered devices.

2019 - ? Linux user. I switched to Linux because the OS (Linux Mint) was free.

Only time will tell how long I stick to Linux, but so far, I like it. It almost feels like I'm having a flashback to 1994, learning how to use a computer.

Medical marijuana certification question.

I had a doctor visit six days ago for chronic pain, which is a qualifying condition in New Mexico. My doctor mentioned medical marijuana as a possible treatment for the pain. I told him I wanted to try it. He said he would write up a certification and mail it to me. I haven't received the certification yet.

Is it too soon to bug him about it? I don't know what process he has to go through to write up a certification for medical marijuana. Perhaps the certification has to be reviewed by someone at his place of business?
