Proud to be a Floridian

We Floridians are known for, well, you know - crazy stuff. But we did good today. We flipped another seat blue!

Washington (CNN)Democrats picked off another Republican-held state legislative seat in a special election Tuesday -- this time a suburban, Sarasota-area district in Florida.

Margaret Good's win over James Buchanan -- the Republican whose father is US Rep. Vern Buchanan -- is another worrying sign for national Republicans headed into next fall's midterm elections.
Good won by 7 percentage points in a district that President Donald Trump carried by 5 points in the 2016 election.
That swing in Democrats' direction made the Florida contest the 36th GOP-held state legislative seat to change parties since Trump took office. And in a district where Republicans held a voter registration advantage of nearly 13,000, the Democratic Party sees it as evidence it can win in Republican strongholds. (Read more)

Fox News is Driving us Toward a Constitutional Crisis

Fox News and Sean Hannity have, through their own brand of propaganda, successfully manipulated the president of the United States into taking action that the FBI has “grave concerns” about and that his own Justice Department described as “extraordinarily reckless.”

The Nunes memo is a Hail Mary pass. A desperate, last-ditch effort by Trump and his Fox News enablers to stop the Mueller investigation before it goes any further and inflicts any more damage.

Most concerning of all, he is doing all of this at the behest of Hannity and Fox News.

I used to think that Fox was following Trump’s lead. Now, it appears as if Trump is following Fox and Hannity’s lead ― and in the process, effectively surrendering the powers of the presidency to his own propagandists.( Read more)

"There's No Way Mueller Will Indict Trump" according to The Atlantic (hope they're wrong)

"The latest revelations about President Trump have, once again, excited the interest of the public, leading to speculation that Special Counsel Robert Mueller may have amassed sufficient evidence to charge the president with obstruction of justice. Trump’s attempt to fire Mueller (which happened last June, but is only now being publicly reported) is, under this line of thinking, the final straw. Color me deeply skeptical.

Mueller will not indict Trump for obstruction of justice or for any other crime. Period. Full stop. End of story. Speculations to the contrary are just fantasy.

He won’t do it for the good and sufficient reason that the Department of Justice has a long-standing legal opinion that sitting presidents may not be indicted. First issued in 1973 during the Nixon era, the policy was reaffirmed in 2000, during the Clinton era. These rules bind all Department of Justice employees, and Mueller, in the end, is a Department of Justice employee. More to the point, if we know anything about Mueller, we think we know that he follows the rules—all of them. Even the ones that restrict him in ways he would prefer they not. And if he were to choose not to follow the rules, that, in turn, would be a reasonable justification for firing him. So … the special counsel will not indict the president." (Read more)

So while folks were looking at McCabe, Trumpy gave Putin a pass yesterday

The Trump administration, under fire from lawmakers for not punishing Moscow over election meddling, said Monday it will NOT implement Russia-related sanctions mandated by Congress last year because the threat itself is acting as a “deterrent.”

The decision was made public after nightfall on deadline day for implementing sanctions against those who do business with Russian defense and intelligence firms, as required under a 2017 law.

Home Depot does not deserve our business!

Every minute I think about this, it just makes me more mad...

Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus in an interview slammed Democrats on tax reform, telling them to use their brains.

"Democrats, use your stupid brains. You don't have any brains and don't understand what happens," Marcus said on Fox News on Saturday.

Wow, this young Democrat is only 27 years old!

Democrats across the nation sent a message to President Donald Trump and his administration in November, winning historic state legislative seats and governorships. Many of them, frustrated with Trump’s policies, decided to run for office in an attempt to energize a disjointed and fractious Democratic Party.

Hanif Johnson is one of those Democrats.

Johnson won the seat in the general election for the Dauphin County Magisterial District in Pennsylvania on Election Day last year, becoming the YOUNGEST Magisterial District Judge in the state at 27 years old. The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, native began his term in January and will preside over cases within the predominately black state capital. (Read more)
