K&R. Thanks - many of us are as baffled as you.

Our Repug voters have been brainwashed with mostly emotional, patriotic and nationalistic issues and that's what most of their votes are based on. Most show little interest in real government policy issues and they've also been inoculated with a hearty dose of anti-government and anti-tax dogma.

Also, as others have said, most "follow the leader" which may be the dominant male in the home or their right-wing church pastor, or even one of many right-wing media personalities such as Rush Limbaugh. These phenomena are things the USA will simply have to out-grow in time. As you can see, we now feel we're in the "one step back" mode with Trump.

My Canadian best friend here has always told me that Canada is actually quite conservative, but noting like to the extremes of our right-wingers. More on the order of our old-time moderate conservatives.

Thanks, and here's plenty of proof:

1. Russia organized 2 sides of a Texas protest and encouraged 'both sides to battle in the streets'

Here's a good one from the UK:

"Donald Trump tumbles to earth with a bump"

Jon Sopel
North America editor @bbcjonsopel on Twitter

See: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-42338009

(snip)
Why this matters is that for two years now Donald Trump seems to have defied the laws of political gravity. Say what you like, insult who you like, do what you like, and when Newton's Law is suspended no harm will come to you.

But suddenly this president is no longer operating in a weightless environment. He has tumbled to earth with a bump. This is important. When someone seems invincible but turns out to be mortal after all, it will affect how your friends and enemies approach you. They might become less fearful.

Thanks to these people...

Rupert Murdoch (Faux News)

Sinclair Broadcasting (talk radio)

Hundreds of charlatan preachers.

Dozens of lying Repug politicians.

Lots of RW folks are crying in their warm beer this morning w/cold pizza for breakfast. Pity only goes out to Roy's horse.

Let's all remember Doug will have an obligation...

to support the policies his constituents want him to. I've always tried to factor that in when I disagree with any politician. We have far too many pols that religiously follow party lines rather than express what all his voters prefer.

I'll continue to support Doug Jones, so long as nothing horribly bad comes out on him.

No, but Al Franken may be the price we pay for not being Perfect.

What do you propose to do about all the GOP evil? They have an enormous media system to cover for all their sins, and nowadays with social media layered on top of Faux and talk radio.

Senator Franken has worked hard for all of us and I believe he deserves due process with this matter. I hope he stays on and insists on a congressional hearing. That would set a good moral and just example to American citizens and all the CongressCritters.

Found this article from 2007.

See: http://hwchronicle.com/former-student-to-be-tried-as-adult/

(snip)
A former student charged with premeditated attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon will be arraigned Friday at Los Angeles Superior Court Van Nuys after posting bail of $1 million.

Rupert Ditsworth allegedly beat Elizabeth Barcay ’07 with a claw hammer on May 14, causing lacerations to Barcay’s head, face and legs, District Attorney Lisa Tanner said.

Ditsworth was initially arrested on May 15 and arraigned on May 18 in Juvenile Court. He was ordered to remain in a psychiatric hospital where he had been since the attack. He was rearrested July 2, one day after his 18th birthday, and charged as an adult. He was released on bail later that day.

-----------
Have not found anything yet on the final resolution of the case. Probably a case of affluenza.

I hope several GOP Congress-Critters feel the same apprehension.

A wire here, a wire there.....there's a wire everywhere.

And, keep your damned hands off the women folk.

Another sinister element of their psychological divisiveness is...

the concept that Republican working class people are smarter and spend their money wisely, whereas Democrat working class folks are painted as lazy, foolish and wasteful.

It is a pattern in their dogma.

Thanks, Samnsara.

I know your feelings well, as I always get a big boost each time I get to visit my daughter's fifth-grade reading class and when I enjoy my granddaughter's artwork.

They will build a brand-new world that would be alien to us, and I try to stay positive about their survival.
