HRC looks healthy and happy - little girl gives her hope, too!

What a beautiful, inspirational photo. No clutching of pearls there!

I think the little one was checking out Hil's necklace. Did she upstage our hero, LOL?

Thanks for posting!

Sickening smell of abuse of power.

I can see occasional justification for certain cabinet secretary travel to high-risk areas, but why would the HHS Secretary ever need to go to such places?

Never knew Geneva, Berlin, Beijing, and Tokyo were high risk except maybe during WW2. Are we in a time warp?

Me thinks it's the smell of elitism.

That's good. Will remember that one.

I can see the press release now:

pResident tRump and Director Mulvaney announces a brand-new division of the Office of Management and Budget, an innovative concept devised by the GOP's best budgetary leaders:

Office of Management and Budget
Division of Fiscal Fuckery
Division Head: Grover Norquist

Inspiring sight!

Strong statement this vet made for all of us.

Sadly, I guarantee that tRump thought the gentleman was bowing down to him.

Tobin, no I have not.

Frankly, after the election I lost interest. Maybe I'm being a simpleton but I've always assumed that in order to gain power, after the primaries Republicans typically back whoever runs against a Dem. In this case, what underlies that assumption is the large populist support that tRump got.

I think the big money boys see their people in office simply as place-holders they can ultimately control, and they do have tremendous leverage. Right now, it seems that system is experiencing huge turmoil.

I would be instructional to see a summary of where his money came from.

Reminds me of Alfalfa (Carl Switzer) and Superman (George Reeves).

Those guys were plagued with their successful roles for all their lives, and could never be released from them. A fun "What Happened to..." series by Jerry Skinner documents many of our past heroes and villains, too. For example, on Alfalfa see:

Megyn Kelly will never escape the stain of pumping right-wing bullshit for years (12?) at Fox. For many, she will always be equated with the likes of Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes, O'Reilly, and Hannity.

She also allowed herself to be a part of Murdoch's and Ailes' sexist policies of having lightly dressed female hosts and guests as eye-candy to attract the boys and old men.

I refuse to believe she has changed her stripes. Once Fox trash, always Fox trash.

Raven - you've got good company.

At my advanced age, it had been hell to now know that our nation will be extensively damaged by this administration and that I will not see additional real progress in my lifetime. By my estimation most everything in my remaining days will be regression. At best, my 10 year old granddaughter may see us return to sanity - I hope.

However, I have to get things in perspective to keep from going mad. When I think back at what my parents went through during the the Great Depression and WWII (and they went through hell during that era), I know there were many years that they felt like we do now, and that desperation lasted a long, long time. I can't imagine the mental pain older people who died during the Depression felt - thinking America was forever done for!

I honestly cannot see a way out of this hole we're in. We've allowed a system of malignant capitalism to be built that now has us enslaved, and globalism has woven the fabric.

I'll never forget some of my old family members humorously saying when in disgust over Nixon or some other travesty: "What this country needs is another Great Depression". Perhaps there was hidden wisdom of foresight there.

Most sinister and disturbing thing to me is...

...that more money in the pockets of the wealthy and the war chests of corporations is that a substantial part of it will be used against us to fund right-wing anti-worker political campaigns and organizations such as ALEC, AEI and the Heritage Foundation.

In the same light, every penny in excess profits from every purchase we make as consumers will likely trickle up and be used against our best interests. I've always found a cruel, ironic humor in that, and often sense it in the check-out lane.

This is a race to the bottom, folks. This bill will put jet fuel in the gasoline tank, just like W's did.

One of my thoughts was...

....that perhaps some of the main-stream media (CNN or NBC, etc.) news desk people got lazy - rather than doing clean, original reporting sourced from their own field people and just picked up on items trending on Facebook or Twitter.

That might explain some of the "clone-like" appearance of many of those headlines by them that you posted in another message.

I've heard that many of the news organizations have had very serious budget problems and have butchered their staffs. What easier way could there be to cut spending and generate cheap coverage than to fire a bunch of your people and just pick leads up from social media? In a competitive market such as this is, it could then become standard industry practice. That possibility is frightening!

Along the same line of thinking, I hope this does not have a negative impact on the quality of our masthead news aggregaters such as AP, UPI and Reuters.

Thanks!

Elitist attitudes.

I suspect that Jared, like tRump - has an ingrained elitist attitude that they shouldn't be bothered with trivial pursuits like filling out forms, honoring government protocols, respecting women and wiping their own asses.

That might explain the sloppy attention to details.
