Damn

Our family Christmas cancelled! Family was supposed to fly here Monday. Getting together Tuesday for Christmas. All vaccinated and boostered. Just got a call, twin granddaughters and a fiancee just tested positive. Will it ever end?

SW Florida

Had an F-1 tornado hit this morning. Minor property damage to a golfing community, one person hurt and 77 mile an hour wind gusts at a local airport. 84 and humid yesterday, 80+ degrees on Christmas forecasted. Normal temps are in the low to mid 70s. First tornado here in December since the 40s. Climate change is here.

MSNBC Panel

and Pete Williams, in particular, seem to believe it's a foregone conclusion. Mississippi will prevail. Guess we'll have to wait til late June to find out. Closer to 2022 elections.

This takes the cake

Madison Cawthorn dipping (chewing tobacco) behind McCarthy in the well of the House! Nice touch for this fiasco.

Listening to Court on the radio

I had to look this one up.
Ex Parte Young U.S. Case Law

Legal Definition of Ex Parte Young
209 U.S. 123 (1908), determined that a federal court may enjoin a state from enforcing a law the constitutionality of which has been challenged. The particular law in this case was a railroad rate reduction statute in Minnesota that had been challenged by railroad company shareholders on the ground that it deprived them of their property without due process of law. The shareholders applied in a federal district court for an injunction, which was granted but subsequently ignored by state authorities. The Supreme Court found for the shareholders and the district court, holding that the right to enjoin did not violate Eleventh Amendment restrictions on the power of federal courts to hear suits against states.

My right ie folks

have been sending me a story from WSJ yesterday about Biden wanting to give immigrants over $450,000 per family. Anyone know the genesis of this story? Got to have a good and true comeback for them.

Its occurred to me today

that in kinder, gentler days, people would give the death of a famous person at least a day of tribute and/or sadness before bashing his/her record. But, alas, we're all so angry these days.

Thumbing through DU

had the TV on. So I half heard a local commercial for a company called "Plantation Shutters for You". But I did hear the end! They said," if you voted for Joe Biden or are a liberal voter, don't call us"! Wow, SW Florida repubs are now officially nuts! Hope the bankruptcy courts sees this business soon.
