Orangeutan's JournalThe study about the Berkeley coffee cup
Heard this on NPR's Radiolab program over the weekend. Scientists did a study in which they gave half the experiment group a University of California-Berkeley coffee mug. The other half got nothing. Then they asked the group with the mugs to list how much they would be willing to part with the mug for. They asked the group without the mugs how much they would be willing to buy a mug for.
Here's the interesting thing: the group in possession of the mugs named a price much higher than the price named by those without a mug, even though the mugs had only been in their possession for a minute or so. Thus, taking ownership of something immediately invests it with irrational value.
This goes some way toward explaining the intransigence of Trump voters in sticking with him to the hilt, despite all evidence that he's rotten to the core.
These people are f'ing scary
They're worse than I thought. We're back in the McCarthy era. Lord help us.

Is Trump constipated this morning?
What's up with the Orange Brillo Pad? Not a single tweet, and it's nearly 8.
How apeshit would Republicans have gone
if Obama had saluted a North Korean general?
Yet in Trump's case, you don't hear anything about it from the right.
Hmmmm.....
Does Trump get a nightly email from Putin...
directing him on what crazy actions to take the next day?
"Tomorrow--pardon Blagojevich. The next day--attack Canada. Await further instructions."
Does Donald have a Twitter nom de plume? And is it "Melania"?
Is Donald pulling the old "John Barron" trick again? Only with his wife's name and identity? Some convincing etymological evidence presented.

What's with this CBS poll?
A majority of voters now think the special counsel investigation is politically driven, even though Republicans are leading the investigation? Is the Repug noise machine working? Is the public that easily duped into believing up is down? Do we really live in a nation of slobbering simpletons, as would appear to be the case? Doesn't bode well....

Things we would have liked to hear the Fox & Friends hosts say after Trump hung up
"Wow, that guy's off his rocker!"
--"Completely nutso!"
--(Twirling index finger around his ear): "Woo-woo-woo!"
Could this be why Trump is so unhinged about the prosecution of Cohen in New York?
Cohen is his fixer. Remember the case of then 13-year-old who said she was kept chained to a bed, and that Trump raped her? She had a press conference scheduled days before the election, but Gloria Allred announced she had canceled because of death threats.
Could Cohen have been involved in that situation?
Also: Rachel said last night that Trump could appoint a new U.S. attorney for that district in two-and-a-half weeks, when the acting appointee, who has recused himself, has to be either finalized or discarded. Could a new district attorney pull the plug on the trial?
Here's an interesting statement by Dershowitz made last December
I believe the following, he told The Post. A president can be charged with obstruction of justice if he does anything unlawful outside the exercise of his constitutional power as set out in Article II of the Constitution if he pays hush money, for example, or destroys evidence. Thats obstruction of justice.
So--if the evidence unearthed when the FBI raided Michael Cohen's offices reveals that Trump paid the $130,000 to Stormy, then will Dershowitz reverse himself and declare on Fox News that Trump should be impeached?
