I take out taxes on my unemployment benefits, so will I get a tax refund or owe money?

I live in NYC and have been on unemployment since late March. Over here at least, it gives you an option to take out taxes on your unemployment deposites. I checked the option to take out taxes. So instead of the enhanced $600 this Spring and Summer, I got $525 a week. Instead of the enhanced $300, I get $262. For my state unemployment, it's the same option, taxes are taken out.

I live alone, am single with no kids, and under 50. From January 1st until around March 20th, I was employed, but made only about $250 a week. No dependents either. So in my case, will I be getting a refund, owe money, or will it be a push?

So who's gonna win today's GA Senate races, and by how much? Predictions?

I'm sure we won't know who wins until later in the week, but who do you think actually wins? Which race will be closer?

I predict that Kelly Loeffler loses by one point to Raphael Warnock. Her negative ratings are higher than David Perdue, and I believe he wins his race against Jon Ossoff, by about 2 points or less.

Hope I'm wrong, but I see a split ticket. GA still leans Red. I know they voted for Biden, but I just don't see them going for a Democratic Hat Trick.

Have Mitch and Chuck Schumer already been re-elected as Senate leaders?

I haven't heard anything about Senate leadership voting, only House leadership voting the other day.

Rita Hart explains her challenge to overturn the 2nd District elections results, as seen on the Stee

Article from yesterday...

Republican Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks will be sworn in Sunday as Iowa's newest Representative in Congress from the 2nd Congressional District.

Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, says it's a provisional seating for now, until the House decides what to do about Democrat Rita Hart's challenge of the Miller-Meeks win.

The Miller-Meeks margin of victory was just 6-votes, making it the closest Congressional race in the country this year. The Iowa Board of Canvass unanimously certified Miller-Meeks as the winner, in a 5-0 vote,

Hart has filed what is known as a 'Notice of Contest' with the U.S. House Administrative Committee. She is trying to overturn the results, claiming there are several legal ballots which were not counted in the 2nd District election.

Hart says there are at least 22 ballots which should count, and that those ballots would give the victory to her, instead of Miller-Meeks.

QAnon Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene Refuses to Wear Mask at Congressional Swearing-In

Source: Daily Beast

Georgia’s new QAnon-supporting Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene caused a ruckus on Sunday at the swearing-in of the new Congress when she refused to wear a mask despite requests from House floor staff, according to Politico’s Jake Sherman. “2 new Republicans — including .@mtgreenee—are being told by House floor staff that they have to put their masks on. as of now, they seem to be telling the floor staff that they will not put it on. Taylor Greene is leaving the floor with the other R, who were trying to ID,” Sherman tweeted. He noted that Trump ally Louie Gohmert (R-TX)—who has pushed to overturn the presidential election result—was also standing maskless on the House floor. After Greene’s refusal to mask up, Republican and Democratic floor staff got into “a screaming match on the floor. So this Congress is going great already,” Sherman tweeted.

The ceremony takes place amid a drastic uptick in COVID-19 cases across the country. Several House members have been in quarantine due to COVID exposure and were participating in the swearing-in and the vote for Speaker from “secure” plexiglass enclosures, according to Capitol Hill doctor Brian Monahan.

Greene later lashed out on Twitter, directing her ire at Democratic Congresswoman Gwen Moore, who announced on Dec. 28 that she’d tested positive for COVID. Moore told a reporter on Sunday that she had quarantined for 2 weeks (raising questions about the date of her diagnosis) and that her doctor advised her it was safe to attend the swearing-in. Nevertheless, Moore was not using a plexiglass enclosure to vote, reportedly angering Republicans. Greene complained, “@SpeakerPelosi changed the COVID rules because she is desperate to cling to the gavel. No one can attack me about masks, when Pelosi is sending Democrats to the floor with positive COVID tests to vote for her for Speaker.”

Meanwhile, one new member of Congress never made it to the ceremony: Luke Letlow, a 41-year-old Republican, died from the virus just before the new year.
