What do you think Biden said when he found out about Manchin's opposition today?

Reporters won't get to question him about it until Monday, so what do you think he said when he found out this morning?

Manchin 'refused' a call from W.H. before killing BBB

Less than 30 minutes before he killed the Democratic Party’s most important piece of legislation, an aide was dispatched by Sen. JOE MANCHIN (D-W.Va.) to give the White House and congressional leadership a heads up.

At the White House, there was panic and disbelief. He sent an aide to tell the president of the United States that he was about to go on Fox News and put a bullet in BBB?

Top White House officials scrambled to call the senator and talk him out of what he was about to do.

“We tried to head him off,” a senior White House official told Playbook, but Manchin “refused to take a call from White House staff.”

Omar: Manchin's excuse for not supporting Build Back Better is 'bulls---'

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) said on Sunday that Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-W.Va.) reasons for not supporting Democrats' social spending bill are "bullshit" after the West Virginia moderate shocked lawmakers Sunday by announcing he was a "no" on the legislation.

"Let’s be clear: Manchin’s excuse is bullshit. The people of West Virginia would directly benefit from childcare, pre-Medicare expansion, and long term care, just like Minnesotans," Omar tweeted.

Omar said Manchin's position was what progressive House lawmakers had warned for months — that the Senate did not have all 50 Democratic votes needed to pass Biden's spending package.

“This is exactly what we warned would happen if we separated Build Back Better from infrastructure,” she said.

White House lights up Manchin after he crushes Biden's megabill

Source: Politico

Biden left negotiations with Manchin this week thinking the two men could cut a deal next year on his sweeping agenda. Then the West Virginia Democrat bluntly said he is a “no” on the $1.7 trillion in an interview on “Fox News Sunday.”

Those comments prompted an immediate war with the White House, who took personal aim at Manchin for what officials saw as a breach of trust. White House press secretary Jen Psaki released an unusually blunt statement saying that Manchin's comments "are at odds with his discussions this week with the President, with White House staff, and with his own public utterances."

Manchin’s rollout on Fox News infuriated Democrats Sunday morning. Psaki said that the senator had brought Biden an outline of a bill similar in size and scope that "could lead to a compromise acceptable to all."

"If his comments on FOX and written statement indicate an end to that effort, they represent a sudden and inexplicable reversal in his position, and a breach of his commitments to the president and the senator’s colleagues in the House and Senate," Psaki said. "Just as Senator Manchin reversed his position on Build Back Better this morning, we will continue to press him to see if he will reverse his position yet again, to honor his prior commitments and be true to his word."

BOLIVAR, Tenn. – A Bolivar Domino’s was closed Thursday, hours after police say an armed robber was shot and killed by a store employee.

They said one of the robbers came through the back door of the business and pointed a gun at the employees and one of the employees pulled out his own gun and opened fire.

28-year-old Jahquille Kodarius Dubose was pronounced dead on the scene. The other robber was seen running from the scene.

What are your thoughts on this? I know it's a week old, but I hadn't heard about it until last night. The deceased's Facebook is here. I have mixed feeling on this, as I wasn't there.

Mayor-elect Adams slams de Blasio move to end solitary confinement at NYC jails

Mayor de Blasio’s administration has quietly begun moving all detainees in solitary confinement — largely for violent attacks on staff — back into general population, sources say, outraging jail unions and Mayor-elect Eric Adams.

The transfers of the 108 detainees began earlier this week, jail sources said. The Department of Correction refers to solitary as punitive segregation. Inmates in “PSEG” are locked in their cells for 23 hours a day as punishment for a violent offense.

During a press conference Thursday introducing his pick for Department of Correction commissioner, Adams vowed the inmates will go right back into solitary once he’s in office.

“So the mayor announced December 31 he’s going to empty out punitive segregation,” Adams said. “January 1, they are going back into segregation. If they committed an act of violence that is unacceptable. You know, I’m not going to allow inmates and officers to be the victims of violent people.”
