Are some sins unforgivable?

Within a theological and biblical context, God can and will forgive all sins, other than blasphemy. Within a religious context we are all in the same boat when it comes to sin and all sins can be forgiven, however this is very different when we look at it in human terms. One might ask, does a belief in God’s forgiveness take power and control for forgiveness away from the victim?

Of course, it seems inevitable that any examination of sin and forgiveness gets wrapped up in a religious context. One might suggest that when religion came along man looked left, looked right and decided what seemed right and what seemed wrong and codified these behaviours and labelled them either sins or moral behaviour. If we take sin and remove it from a religious framework, we can all recognise that there can be some transgressions on societies, social groups or individuals that are hugely problematic in terms of forgiveness, as the perpetrator of the transgression does not show any insight or understanding of what happened. If one does now own their transgressions can you forgive them? After all, if they do not wish to accept your forgiveness, as they do not feel they have done anything wrong, what happens to the forgiveness?

If we take God out of the forgiveness equation then the only person necessary to do the forgiving is the victim of the sinful behaviour. Is there any sin that is too big to forgive? Probably not. We cannot tell people NOT to forgive. On the other side of the coin, of course, is that there is no obligation to forgive either, that is the victims decision.

To forgive, or not to forgive, that is the question.

Only black woman in Vermont statehouse quit after harassment by white nationalist -- who showed up to

‘troll’ her press conference

Morris did not get into detail about the harassment when she quit but, last week, held a press conference to discuss it.

“All of the accounts of what happened to me and my family over the years are enormous in scale and historically rooted in a legacy of white supremacy, misogyny and inequity,” Morris said at the press conference. “We did everything that we were told to do, reported everything, held nothing back and trusted in a system that, in the end, was insufficient and inept at addressing and repairing the harm done… we were told there was nothing to be done.”

Misch even showed up at the press conference, wearing a Pepe The Frog shirt and instigating a confrontation with the crowd.

The government is 'planning for martial law' after a no-deal Brexit and everyone is worried

As tensions rise with the Brexit deadline fast approaching, another round of stories reveals the chaos that might ensue if the UK crashes out of the EU without a deal.

Now it has been reported Brexit planners are looking into the possible imposition of martial law after no-deal Brexit to prevent civil disobedience.

According to a report in the Sunday Times, powers available under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 would allow ministers to impose curfews, travels bans, confiscate property and deploy the armed forces to quell rioting.

I am really hoping that this is scare tactics to get MPs in line to vote on the deal - otherwise what the fuck happened to the oldest modern democracy on the planet?!?!?!

Which is the Greater Threat to Freedom in America? (Yes, It Is A Rhetorical Q)

We cannot argue that there is not an external threat to the West wherein a group of Holy Roller fanatics would love to blow up the shit out of us. In reality of course, there is very limited scope for them to do any such thing, certainly on a scale that would cause anything but very limited damage. The fact remains that though this threat exists, it is incredibly small in comparison with the issues that are presented on a day to day basis. Gun violence, anyone? But hell, this does not stop the administration from demonising every Muslim in the West. Caravans of refugees fight to get to the US border to seek asylum, but we all know they are not the marauding hoards of rapists and murderers the current eejit in the White House makes them out to be. But he will repeat this message again and again and again.

On the other hand, we have seen one government shut down with another threatened. We have seen a full-on attack on voting rights, women’s reproductive rights, gay rights, trans rights, etc etc etc, hell we see attacks on just about anything that could be described as a fight for equality and justice for anyone that doesn't have enough cash to buy what they want in Trumps Washington.

We are witness to an ongoing right-wing hysteria aimed at pushing low information voters into a blind panic. The right wing wants people to live in fear. Day in and day out the drip drip drip of conspiracy theories and conflated and over blown rhetoric.

So, who do you really think is the bigger threat to freedom, a false hype about the boogie man coming to the shores of America or the current full on onslaught eroding rights left, right and centre brought to you proudly by the Trumpublican party? I think we all know the answer to that.
