Mueller's mysterious post-press conference memo has reporters perplexed

I didn't know about this, but Ari Melber discusses it.

After Mueller’s remarks, his office released a memo giving what Mueller’s answer would have been to questions Bill Barr answered for him about the special counsel’s report. Barr told reporters that Mueller decided there was no obstruction and no collusion. However, the memo from Mueller’s office says something entirely different.

Is Pelosi Waiting for "An Ironclad Case" before moving forward on Impeachment?

She seems to be saying that.

Here's what she said today:

This morning we heard a patriotic American make his presentation. I have the deepest respect for special counsel — well former special counsel Mueller and what he had to say. He indicated if he saw any evidence that the president was innocent, he would have let us know. If he had any evidence that the president was not guilty, he would have let us know, but he didn’t. I think that was very, very important. I have the deepest respect for him and thank him and his team for the presentation of facts that will further lead us to help us in the Congress, in the courts. This is a very valuable contribution. I’m gravely disappointed in the justice department for their attitude, misrepresentation of the Mueller report to begin with. They are hiding behind something that you could never find in the constitution that the president is above the law and their misrepresentations even under oath by the attorney general to the Congress of the United States.

We will continue on our path which was led by our six chairmen. Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, Elijah Cummings, Maxine Waters. All of them have a piece of this. Last week we had three victories in the courts. One Elijah Cummings, the president’s accountant, they have to share the information. Two Maxine Waters which is they have to share the information and three not related to the Russian investigation or related to other problems we have with the president and his view of the Constitution. The court said that he can’t use Defense Department money to build his wall.

----
Where they will lead us, we shape see — Shall see. Nothing is off the table, but we do want to make a compelling case, such an ironclad case, that even the Republican Senate which seems to be not an objective jury will be convinced of the path that we have to take as a country.

Pelosi just used Melania as an example of Trump's hypocrisy on immigration

In comments Wednesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi poked the bear yet again, by calling out President Donald Trump’s immigration policy by using his wife and her family as an example.

“I don’t know merit counted when his wife’s family came into the country. God bless them if it did,” Pelosi said.

According to Pelosi, Trump’s merit-based immigration proposal means “make America white again.”

Side-by-side comparison of Barr and Mueller's statements about Russia probe looks very bad for Trump

CNN’s Brooke Baldwin on Wednesday showed a devastating side-by-side comparison of statements made by Attorney General Bill Barr and former special counsel Robert Mueller about the results of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

In the middle of a panel discussion in which former FBI agent Asha Rangappa accused Barr of “lying” about Mueller’s final report in his four-page summary released two months ago, Baldwin decided to show side-by-side video clips of Barr and Mueller describing the special counsel’s work to let viewers judge for themselves.

In the first clip, Barr stated that there “was no evidence of the Trump campaign collusion” with the Russian government to interfere in the 2016 election, whereas Mueller said that “there was insufficient evidence to charge a broader conspiracy.” In the next clip, Barr claimed that “the evidence developed by the special counsel is not sufficient to establish that the president committed and obstruction of justice offense,” whereas Mueller said that “if we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so.”

Rangappa also point out that Barr tried to claim that Mueller’s decision not to charge Trump with a crime was not based on DOJ policy against indicting a sitting president, whereas Mueller emphasized that the DOJ’s policy about indicting the president was a crucial factor in his final decision.

Fox News: Mueller directly contradicted what we've heard from the White House

On Wednesday, Special Counsel Robert Mueller belied Trump’s contention that his report exonerated him. In fact, he said that had they reached the conclusion that Trump was innocent of obstruction, they would have explicitly said so.

Still, the President maintains his innocence. Mueller also unequivocally stated that there was foreign interference in the U.S. election, which the White House has denied.

On Wednesday, Fox News’ Shepard Smith pointed out that Mueller’s comments were a complete rebuttal of the President’s stance on Russia.

“In doing so, he directly contradicted what we’ve heard from the Trump White House,” Smith said. “The special counsel stated clearly that his findings do not exonerate the president.”

Trump's ties to Russian mobsters are 'absolutely unprecedented'

From Andrew McCabe. Chilling.

Before he became infamous for working on the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s emails and the Trump Russia investigation, former acting FBI chief Andrew McCabe investigated the Russian mob in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. McCabe has been asking some of the questions we at “Trump, Inc.” have asked ourselves about Trump’s business. So today, we compare notes.

In this conversation with Andrea Bernstein and Heather Vogell, of “Trump, Inc.,” McCabe talks about why it makes sense that some of the people he investigated in the 1990s have resurfaced in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, what questions he still has after the Mueller report and why he and former FBI director Jim Comey have said Trump’s management style reminds them of the mob.

WNYC’s Andrea Bernstein: I want to start by asking you about your FBI training. You write about being at Quantico and you say, “I embraced every bit of this culture, even the most arbitrary aspects of the discipline.” You say that you loved “wearing the same style of polo shirt every day for weeks on end, loved the fact that everybody around me wore the same polo shirt too.” Why was it important to you, to dress the part?

Andrew McCabe: You know, I think each of those little details, though not significant individually, were a way of communicating to us that we had joined an organization that was much bigger and more significant than our individual preferences or our lives.

Fox Analyst: "Mueller said we had evidence that he committed a crime but we couldn't charge him"

Napolitano was very clear: Mueller devastated Trump today.

Mueller said they had evidence of Trump's crimes but couldn't charge him ONLY because his is POTUS.

“Effectively what Bob Mueller said is we had evidence that he committed a crime but we couldn’t charge him because he’s the president of the United States,” Napolitano explained. “This is even stronger than the language in his report. This is also a parting shot at his soon-to-be former boss, the attorney general, because this statement is 180 degrees from the four-page statement that Bill Barr issued at the time he first saw the report.”

“Is it that bad?” host Stuart Varney remarked.

“I think so,” Napolitano replied. “Basically he’s saying the president can’t be indicted, otherwise we would have indicted him and we’re not going to charge him with a crime because there’s no forum in which for him to refute the charges, but we could not say that he didn’t commit a crime, fill in the blank, because we believe he did.”

We haven't heard the end of this.

Rudy Giuliani says Mueller held a 'Soviet Union' press conference

Giuliani suggested to Fox News that Mueller’s statement had been un-American.

“When you get into this notion of exoneration, it’s completely foreign to American law,” the president’s lawyer complained before comparing Mueller’s press conference to something that could occur in the “Soviet Union.”

“He’s lost his notion of American fairness,” Giuliani added. “To me, as a lawyer, it’s astounding that he’s expounding on, ‘Can we exonerate him?’ The reality is he doesn’t have a case… Why did he do the investigation at all?”
