Bob Smietana of the Religion News Service broke the story that evangelical Beth Moore, a hugely popular leader, has left the Southern Baptist Church. A survivor of sexual assault, Moore objected to her denomination’s support for Trump in light of the Access Hollywood tapes in which he boasted of sexual assault. She has increasingly parted ways with church leaders and now has announced that she is leaving the denomination. Her departure could lead a number of women out of that church.

Rebekah Jones drops lawsuit against state of Florida, plans to refile

TALLAHASSEE — Former Florida Department of Health whistle-blower Rebekah Jones has moved to dismiss her lawsuit against the Florida Department of Law Enforcement that alleged that the state violated her constitutional rights when agents raided her Tallahassee townhome in December.

Jones’ lawyer, Richard E. Johnson, said she could not continue the case because of a pending criminal case against her but will refile the lawsuit when that case is resolved.

“You can’t do a criminal case and a civil case at the same time,’' Johnson said Tuesday. “The criminal case has to go first. It’s better to dismiss it so you can start over with the facts as they exist at the time of refiling.”

On his blog and in a book, Nobody Died at Sandy Hook: It Was a FEMA Drill to Promote Gun Control, Fetzer accuses Pozner of circulating a fake death certificate for a fictitious child when he tried to prove his son had lived and died. Those statements are the focus of Pozner’s lawsuit against Fetzer, who lives in Wisconsin. With DNA tests, government documents, an affidavit from the funeral home, and Pozner’s son’s medical files in the court record, the judge has already ruled for Pozner on summary judgment and declared Fetzer’s statements false and defamatory. The jury is here only to decide how much Fetzer’s lies should cost him."
