Trump thinks video games desensitizes kids to violence

...clearly he doesn't think armed teachers and guns in schools do the same thing. Games are more dangerous that reality?

The game makers will likely face off during the meeting with some other long-time industry critics also in attendance including retired Lt. Col. Army Dave Grossman, who called violent video games "murder simulators" after the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, and Brent Bozell, founder of the Media Research Center. He criticized President Obama for targeting gun makers but going soft on violent video games, TV and movies.

After last month's shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., in which 17 were killed, President Trump voiced concern about violence in video games, as well as in movies and online. "I’m hearing more and more people say the level of violence on video games is really shaping young people’s thoughts," he said

Red Herring

Any voting results from Burlington VT Mayoral race?

just curious. I can't find anything

Is this link to an OP, and the subesequent replies, indicative of a racist hate site?

While I realize that site is a free for all mostly co-opted by repukes, why does admin appear to condone this type of racism that links back to DU? I guess Trump really has completed his permissive racist leadership of the Republican party.

my position? No guns for teachers! Spend the money on bullet proof classroom doors

that's all I have to say about that.

How common is it to have a human foot wash ashore, averaging at least once per year?

A human foot that washed ashore on Vancouver Island in December belonged to a Washington state man, officials said Wednesday, the 13th such case of a foot behind found along British Columbia's coast since 2007.
It's not clear if there's any link between the gruesome discoveries.

If Trump gets his way and requires teachers to be armed.....

what happens to those teachers that are (lets say) on depression meds? Or those that have been in a previous shooting and have PTSD? For their own safety, what happens if they are forced to carry a gun around all day long? What about devout pacifists? What about true Christians that believe in turning the other cheek to killing another person? Do they get to keep their jobs? Will they be branded as not good enough or not as good as their co -workers who are packing?....we already know they won't get paid as much under Trumps plan.

What a horrid, impractical idea.

then there's this:
Public school systems will employ about 3.2 million full-time-equivalent (FTE) teachers in fall 2017,

There are more than 900,000 sworn law enforcement officers now serving in the United States,

Pressing this issue, I think the NRA is looking for a significant increase in sales...another bang up money maker for them and the manufacturers they represent! Not to mention the millions of kids that will be future purchasers who would be conditioned into thinking that safety would only come with possession of a firearm.

Is this a dog I see?

Now what did daddy Trump say about dogs?

I am grateful for the hearts. Thanks to my anon donors.

Gay Olympic Figure Skater, publically snubs Pence

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea – Vice President Pence is set to arrive here soon to lead the official U.S. delegation to the 2018 Winter Olympic opening ceremony, a delegation that is making a strong political statement against North Korea’s oppressive regime by including the father of Otto Warmbier, the student who died not long after being held in captivity in North Korea.

But on the afternoon on Jan. 17, Pence had another focus: He was so concerned about the criticism he received from U.S. Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon that his staff went to the extraordinary length of asking the U.S. Olympic Committee to set up a conversation between the two – an offer Rippon turned down.

According to two people with knowledge of the situation who were not authorized to speak publicly about it, a member of Pence’s staff requested the conversation with the openly gay Rippon after reading the skater’s derogatory remarks about him in a USA TODAY Sports story that had been published online just an hour earlier.

Rippon, the two people said, declined the invitation.

Later in the article Rippon states her "may be open" to a conversation after the sporting event is over. Let's see if Pence enjoys stewing in that particular limelight for a while lol

Duckworth: "Cadet Bone Spurs" won't tell me when to clap

“We don’t live in a dictatorship or a monarchy,” Duckworth tweeted soon after he made the comment. “I swore an oath ― in the military and in the Senate ― to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, not to mindlessly cater to the whims of Cadet Bone Spurs and clap when he demands I clap.”
