dameatball's JournalFires endanger Reagan library. 36,000 crayons at risk. You'd think Nancy would have seen this coming
My apologies for the people trying to live through this, as I do not mean to diminish what they are going through. But the media attention to the library of one of the people whose policies helped enable climate change is ridiculous. (Sigh). But I suppose it is news of some sort.
Quick question: Does anyone know how the G-7 agenda subjects are determined? I have no idea. Thanks.
Or is it a free for all?
Just saw Lester Holt re: tonight's news. Lead stories were LeBron James and Felicity Huffman. Good
Grief!
Sure, they are somewhat interesting stories. I get that. But in the grand scheme of things....wtf???
This is part of the reason why people are not fully informed over the corruption in our country and the peril our planet is in. Ratings I suppose.
Dirtball Gaetz is "How to Get Noticed in Conservative Politics 101."
This guy doesn't believe all the crap he spouts, nor do his advisors. Everything is about getting his name out there and is tailored to be a media event. This is merely the blueprint for conservatives these days and for a while now. Why the media follows him I have no idea. Oh, wait, yes I do. There are no conservative "statesmen" left to bother with so just follow the newest a-hole on the block.
These lightweights are all looking for a free pass and they will get it if they just keep trying.
Is it just me or do fewer people carry wallets these days? When I was an adolescent I remember my
father telling me that a gentleman (whatever that was) always carries a wallet and a handkerchief. I quit carrying a handkerchief many years ago because it seemed so unnecessary. And if you need to use it do you really want it back in your pocket?
But it just seems like I know more and more people who have wallets, but leave them in the car or in their desk or whatever.
I know. It's an inane post, but the news is making me goofy.
Back in the mid 60's we already were being taught that Hispanic culture would become a larger part
of our society. I remember my elementary school teachers in Florida telling us that learning Spanish would be a worthwhile goal as immigration would likely increase as we grew up. By the time I reached middle school, Spanish classes were available. In those days, immigration was seen as inevitable and a positive thing. Nearby Tampa already had a thriving Hispanic community.
So...what happened? Politicians is what happened. White nationalism is what happened. Hate radio and Fox news happened. Then Trump happened. It didn't have to be this way.
TCM...getting ready to watch "The Battle of Algiers".....sounds good
Seems to be a well respected film. I have not seen it to my knowledge.
"A Shot In The Dark" (1964). Peter Sellers, Herbert Lom and......sigh...Elke Sommer.....:)
This trip back to my adolescence has aged fairly well. Stumbled across it channel surfing tonight.
Hamberder question for Hoosiers....or....anyone else
Back in the 1970's I spent a few years in Bloomington, IN, At one point I was working west of town and there was this little hamburger joint I would stop at for lunch on the way to work second shift. They threw a round ball of ground beef on a large flat griddle and smashed it down while also cooking the onions. Eventually they would serve it all, however you wanted it in a paper bag if you wanted take out. Sometimes I just ate it there.
Does anyone know if this is what we now know as "Smashburger," cuz if so I want some
..
I have absolutely no idea what forum to put this in, Wouldn't be the first time. But those things were damn good.
For some reason I am rembering "W. Gordon Pike"....might be off.
Cynthia Alksne on Stephanie Miller show stated she believes that the reason Trump and Don Jr. were
not subpoenaed is that they had already taken the fifth amendment through their lawyers. Very interesting. It would be a logical explanation.
